Happy Tuesday, friends!  In case you haven’t heard on social media (over and over again), the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale kicked off for card-holders this week.  (I’ve never been one to have a store credit card, but I did get the Nordstrom debit card years ago to shop the sale – it connects straight to my own bank debit card.)  I personally can’t shop the sale until Friday, but I figured I would put together some faves ahead of time for all the gals that can shop the sale right now.

The sale certainly has mixed reviews these days (as opposed to the all-out bonanza that it used to be in the blogger world), and while I don’t think I’ll be buying much, I do think there are some really great finds.  Above are some of the things I own and love from years past, and below are some of the pieces I’m digging this year.

Up at the top of my list?  I usually snag a new set of these PJ’s every year, am loving these ivory slides, eyeing this perfume set (I already use the Santal 33 scent), and although I do not need another sweater that I’ll never wear in Southern California, this one is just so pretty.  There are a couple of dresses I’m loving below, and I think these pants could be so pretty (although I haven’t seen them in person).  Turns out maybe I’ve got a few more things in my shopping cart than I thought I would, imagine that, ha!

If you’re shopping the sale, then here’s hoping your faves don’t sell out before you snag ’em!

5 Things I’m Loving This Week

Habanero Watermelon Margarita made with Casamigos Tequila, Suja Watermelon Whim, and Bear Root Bitters Happy Friday, friends!  Today’s post is coming to you from a cozy spot on my parents’ couch where I’m admittedly still pajama-clad and watching the rain fall.  I got to Louisiana yesterday to celebrate one of my high school best friends getting married this weekend, and it’s supposed to storm the entire time I’m here.  Hoping and praying and crossing all my fingers that my friend has a rain-free wedding day, but other than her big day, I gotta say I’m not mad at the rain at all.

Besides this rainy Friday morning with a hot cup of coffee, I thought I’d share five more things I’m loving this week.  (Because spicy honey and the best suck-you-in leggings were just meant to be shared between friends.  Here’s hoping everyone has an amazing weekend ahead!

End of summer Habanero Watermelon Margaritas – Summer may be coming to a close, but it’s still pretty toasty outside.  For your next happy hour, try out these delicious margarita cocktails made with Casamigos Tequila, Suja Watermelon Whim juice, fresh lime juice, and a few drops of Bear Root Habanero Ginger Bitters.

The coziest faur fur bomber jacket – I was roaming around Bloomingdale’s recently looking for a dress for a friend’s wedding when I was completely sidetracked by this jacket.  Now it’ll be a while before I can wear anything super cozy around here, but I’m counting down the days until I can justify throwing this pretty on.  The absolute softest faux fur, hooded, pockets, and the prettiest blush pink color – it’s a good one, y’all.

The best spicy honey – You guys, I never even knew I needed a spicy honey in my life, but it turns out, I certainly did.  Somehow I came across Mike’s Hot Honey on Amazon and added it to my cart.  I changed my mind and didn’t end up ordering, but the next time that Eric made an Amazon purchase, the honey was still in the cart and showed up at our front door in two days.  And I’m so glad that it did.  Serve it up next to a cheese plate, add it to a breakfast sandwich, or dip a chicken tender while you’re living your best weekend life.  This stuff is so good, and I’m constantly finding new uses for it.

White Noise Lite App – I’m naturally a pretty light sleeper through the night, and I’ll wake up for any creak, crack, or noise.  This white noise app has been a total game changer for me.  It’s free to download, comes with a ton of different sound settings, and can be set to fade out or shut off whenever you want.  I’m now falling asleep faster and staying asleep longer, and it’s been especially great for blocking out hotel sounds when I’m traveling.

Spanx legging season – With the changing seasons comes one of my favorite seasons of all – Spanx legging season.  (It’s a real thing in my mind.)  I’ve worn my black and navy pairs approximately 476 times over the last couple of years, and this year I’ve got my sights set on their new “Rich Olive” color.  They’re a little pricey, but after you’ve worn them for an entire fall and winter, the cost per wear is super low.

The Lazy Weekend Uniform

And so ends a week of pack, pack, packing, y’all, and not a moment too soon.  (More on what I’m doing over here.)  Yesterday I realized that the first weekend of the new year is upon us, and I was like, YASSS.  And then I remembered that I’ll be spending it moving some of our stuff into our temporary rental home and lots more of it into a storage pod, and I was like, NOOO.  All good in the hood, though.  I’ll find some downtime in there somehow, and I plan to do absolutely nothing with it.  Anyone else looking for a couple of lazy days ahead?  Well if you are, then I’ve got your weekend uniform.

I scooped up this adorable little ruffle-sleeved sweater tee this week because, how cute?  So cute, and under $40.  And if anyone else is still feeling all that holiday overindulgence (raises hand slowly), then it’s time to get yourself a pair of these Spanx denim leggings because I’m telling you, they forgive all.  Annnnd while you’re at it, you might as well treat yo’self to the world’s most comfortable kicks.  Downright cushy, y’all.  I love these so much that I own them in two colors (because my mother-in-law rocks and bought me a second pair for Christmas), and if color options are your jam, well these come in over 20.  The taupe and the grey are my personal faves, and I have to say, they were just made for casual Fridays.

So for now I’m off to wrap up this kitchen packing struggle (for now) and treat myself to lunch.  Every worker bee needs a break sometime, right?  Oh, and if you aren’t already, I hope you’ll follow me over on Instagram (and Instagram stories!) for peeks into the happenings around here.  Hope everyone has a great weekend ahead!

Sooo by now I think I’ve worn this little cabi turtleneck 4,795 times, and I’m not stopping anytime soon.  It literally goes under everything.  Like this dress.  And this one.  And this little satin and lace cami in today’s post that I loved so much I bought it in two more colors.  Y’all, it’s currently under $10, so go ahead and treat yo’self.  I spent a couple of days bumming that we didn’t have a Christmas tree this year (#constructionproblems), but then I was like, cheer up, idiot, there are literally Christmas trees ALL around you.  And the prettiest place around to take in a little Christmas cheer just might be Lido Marina Village.  This place is seriously the cutest – I can’t stay away.  It’s also the perfect place to stock up on gifts, so that’s productive, right?  Hope everyone has an amazing weekend ahead!

All I Want For Christmas (The Luxe List)

Today I saw a website countdown that Christmas is only 18 days away (17 for Hanukkah), and I was like, that can’t be right.  In my mind, I swear it’s still October, and I’m thinking that my lack of Christmas awareness has to do with our lack of Christmas tree (due to some home remodel plans) this year.  But ready or not, my favorite day of the year is right around the corner – YAY!  I’ve decided that all I want for Christmas this year is to spend it with family and friends and way too much food and sweatpants and snow (is that too much to ask, Louisiana?), but today I’m rounding up a holiday wishlist because a little bit of daydreaming never hurt anybody.  And while my own Santa Clause may say dream on, there’s no rule against treating yourself this season, is there?  (P.S. – don’t worry, looking for gifts a bit more affordable?  Check out this cozy gift guide.)

Party Time: Holiday Style Under $100

I’m pretty aware by now that I declare every new season as my favorite fashion season.  Fall is the best!  Spring is the thing!  But I really, really mean it this time, guys – is there anything better than holiday style?  Lace, sequins, velvet, fur…gimme all of the things!  It’s just not every day that a head to toe sequin look is appropriate, and sometimes you just gotta go all out disco ball.  BUUUT, you probably don’t want to break the bank on it.  So today I’m rounding up a few favorite party-perfect finds for under $100 because I’m pretty sure we all have a couple of holiday gifts to buy for people other than ourselves this year, right?

Just another day over here in my favorite leggings ever.  (Seriously, if you haven’t checked these out yet, get on it, girl.)  But I’ve gushed about these before, so today’s post is not about the leggings, but what you’ll usually find me wearing with them.  And well, there’s nothing I love more with leggings than an easy tee and a long knit cardigan.  I’ve got a stack of boyfriend cardigans in my arsenal, and they’re the first things I grab for when it gets cold.  And while a lush, expensive version may seem like the bee’s knees, you don’t need to spend a bunch to get a super-soft cardigan that you’ll wear with everything.  So browse around below for fifteen versions that are under $100, or go for the one that I’m wearing above for right around $29.  Steal of a deal, kids.

Also, if you’re looking for a crazy comfortable pair of black booties, these are pretty great.  They’ll definitely be accompanying me this weekend for a little one-night getaway with the husband.  Where to?  I have no idea…yet.  It’s my 30th birthday tomorrow, and Eric’s planned a little surprise and I’ve yet to break the case.  Then on Sunday, we’re headed to the Sip’n’Shuck event at The Deck in Laguna Beach, and I’m so excited for it.  It’s their annual charity event with lots of oysters and small bites, tons of wines and beers to try, live music, and just lots of fun.  If you’re in the Orange County area, highly recommend making your way to Sip’n’Shuck – it’s SO much fun.  What fun plans do you guys have for the weekend ahead?

If you guys were following along on Instagram last week, you may have noticed a little Vegas vacay with three of my favorite girls (Jenn, Krystal, and Kathleen) taking over my feed.  The four of us had the not-so-difficult task of spending two days exploring the Venetian and the Palazzo, and y’all, the trip did not disappoint.  Aside from seeing Britney Spears’ “Piece of Me” show (these Southerners clearly loved it), here are a few highlights of the trip.

LOVE art installation by Laura Kimpton – 12-foot high red steel letters spelling out LOVE in the lobby of the Venetian are just begging for a little Instagram love.  Pun intended.

Canyon Ranch SpaClub – What girls’ trip would be complete without a little visit to the spa?  We each enjoyed the All-In Massage which combines hot stones, Shiatsu, reflexology, a salt scrub, and more.  It was like a mixed bag of all of my favorite massages combined into one.  We didn’t have time to stay and enjoy the other spa amenities, but they looked fab, definitely worth checking out.  Hashtag, robe life.

LAVO at the Palazzo – This is just straight up delicious Italian comfort food.  Get the giant meatball.  Or don’t.  I’m not the boss of you.  But it’s so good, and so is the gnocchi.  Hell, so is the straight up bread dipped in their marinara sauce.  This was my third time eating at LAVO, and it’s been consistently delicious every time.

Brunch at Bouchon – You can’t go to Vegas without a little brunch action, and Bouchon is in the perfect setting.  The weather in Vegas while we were there was just plain delightful, so we sat outside overlooking a beautiful garden with the sounds of a fountain in the background.  It really feels like you’re somewhere else entirely.  Our group pretty much never has a meal without fries, and if you add the word truffle to that?  We’re sold every single time.

BAZ – Star Crossed Love show – Y’all, I’m not gonna lie.  Theater and musicals have never really been my thing.  It’s true, but I totally got into this one.  BAZ combines Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge, and The Great Gatsby in a way that totally makes sense and keeps you interested.  I walked out thinking, well that was really fun.  Rare for me, seriously.

SUSHISAMBA – This. Was. So. Good.  I really, really wish there was a SUSHISAMBA near us in Orange County because I’m telling you, it was one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve ever been to.  The Samba Strip roll was AMAZING, and the Peruvian Corn was addictive.  Also, Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef.  I’ll just leave that right there.

Bottle service at TAO Nightclub – I haven’t been “clubbing” since my days living in Hollywood, and I hadn’t been to TAO in a bazillion years, but going back was like a glorious blast from the past.  The DJ killed it, as Vegas DJ’s tend to do, and the all-night dance party was much needed after the SUSHISAMBA food-a-thon.

And there you have it, our two days in Vegas packed full of food, drinks, and a little exploring.  What are some of your favorite places to see, do, and eat in Las Vegas?

This Week’s Fall Must-Haves

fall must-haves 1. Plaid Infinity Scarf  2. Grey Patent Leather Mule Loafer  3. Drape Front Faux Leather Jacket  4. Kendall + Kylie Booties  5. Seam Detail Sleeveless Sweater  6. Metallic Toe Block Heel Bootie  7. Lapis Abby Ring  8. Lace Shift Dress (also available here)  9. Camo Shirt Jacket  10. Faux Leather Shorts  11. Suede Love Crossbody Bag  12. Spanx Faux Leather Leggings

After two glorious days of overcast fallish-ness earlier this week, the urge to do SO much fall shopping damage is way strong.  Way strong.  Must keep reminding myself that all of the fall must-haves that I’ve already adopted are still waiting their turn to make it out of the closet.  But if you’ve been patiently waiting to add to your fall wardrobe, then today’s post is for you, friend.  And you know what, I’ll just go ahead and be honest.  The dress at number 8 is already on its way to me, and I’m JUSSST about to pull the trigger on those killer faux leather leggings that suck you all in and make you look like a supermodel.  But then once I get the leggings, I think I’ll have to pair them with the sleeveless sweater and suede booties.  And the camo shirt jacket.  You should know that as a Southerner who grew up surrounded by camo-clad hunters and fishermen, I always swore up and down, side to side and backwards that I’d never wear anything camo.  And yet here I am, staring at this camo shirt jacket like, where have you been all my life?  Someone send help.  (Also, this happened and I wasn’t even mad at it.)  But I mean, cute outfit, right?  Especially cute once you add the navy handbag and ring because I clearly have a fall problem and we’ve already come this far so let’s just keep going.  (I’m not calling them my fall must-haves for nothing.)  Which pieces are calling your name for the fall season?
