When packing for someplace tropical (or just beating the heat at home during the summer), you probably don’t immediately think of an activewear line to stock up on essentials.  Well, think again, friends.  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite little dresses from my recent trip to Mexico, and it’s from my very favorite activewear line, lucy.

I’ve been a fan of lucy’s leggings and tanks for years for actually working out, but in recent seasons, I’ve especially gravitated towards their dresses, jumpers, and separates to support my love of all things athleisure.  Today’s midi dress is just about as lightweight as they come, has a mesh detail in the back for added ventilation, and is just SO comfortable.  After a day in the sun or night out, it was pretty much the only dress I wanted to throw on and wear all day.  Plus, the fabric is so great for packing and travel because it stays pretty wrinkle-free and won’t look like a hot mess when you pull it out of your suitcase.

Other travel-friendly favorites include these denim-look leggings that are perfect for the plane, these easy crops that I want to live in, and this lightweight wrap cardigan that’s a go-to for chilly nights.  Well, and maybe this little jacket top too.  And everything else below.  When everything is this cute and comfy, picking favorites is hard to do!  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

Happy new week, friends, and yes, I’m a day late with that but let’s just go with it here.  I’m currently in Playa de La Paz for the week, and y’all, it’s seriously beautiful.  (There will be a full recap coming up on the blog, but you can follow along this week over on the Instagram.)  And while I’d love to say that I’ve used these adorable lucy leggings to get ready for a full week in swimsuits, I’ll be honest, I’m living in these because they’re just plain cute.  And well, as comfy as can be.

BUT!  Jenn from Haute Off the Rack has convinced me that I’m going to try her #BBG workout while on vacay, and I have no idea why I said yes.  (Do any of y’all do this?  It seems intense, and I’m not quite sure if I’ve brought my A game with me to Mexico.)  I guess I need a little something to erase all of the upcoming margs and tacos or the unexpected Italian meal that we kicked things off with.  So I’ll finally be putting these leggings to use I suppose, and whether you want to work out in these or not, they’re pretty great to live in.

AND if you’re interested in dipping your toes in the comfy faux denim water, then head over here and enter to win a $500 gift card to lucy.  I’m extending the giveaway one full day and will announce a winner tomorrow morning.  Good luck!

Hip, hip, hooray for the three-day weekend, y’all!  Although I’ll be honest, my brain switched into weekend mode somewhere around Thursday, so it’s really been about four days of freedom around here.  Today got off to a slow start, but I’m finally getting around to sharing this fun spring look with some of my favorite basics.  I first posted this cabi cardigan back here, and I love how it pairs so easily with dresses or jeans, dressed up or down.  These white jeans are from a few seasons back, but I recently tried on this similar style and this one and LOVE them both.  (They run a bit big, so size down.)  And finally, if you guys haven’t tried these wedges yet, get on it!  They are so comfortable, and for some reason I find them super flattering on my feet.  (If you’ve checked them out online, you’ll notice that some of the comments say that they rub the back of your ankles uncomfortably.  For me, that did happen with the right shoe, but I added in a pad to the shoe, and they’re a dream now.  Just an FYI!)  I’m linking two versions at two price points above.  Hope everyone is having a great President’s Day Weekend!

The rest of the week may have a little rain in the forecast, but today just so happens to be warm and sunny, bare-legged, Spring dress weather around here and I’m not complaining one bit.  I wasted no time pulling out this printed shirtdress from cabi’s latest collection, and seriously, how good is it paired back with their long striped cardi?  Pretty good.  And then there are the spring wedges that I will most likely be wearing well into summer and beyond.  These were hugely popular last year (this version), but I resisted the urge because honestly they were a bit narrow on my foot.  This year, when I saw the perforated version, I knew I had to give them another shot.  And I’m so glad that I did because I swear, these are SO comfortable.  They are pretty tall but super easy to walk in and go with just about everything in my spring wardrobe.  If you haven’t checked out these spring wedges yet (or the budget-friendly version here), I’d definitely recommend taking them for a stroll.  My favorite kind of stroll?  The kind that ends at Juice Served Here in Lido Marina because I swear I’m addicted.  Iced Matcha?  Yes, please.  I thought I might have slight regrets for skipping New York Fashion Week this season, but I’m looking around and there’s no #FOMO in sight.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Last week I shared a few of my favorite budget basics (along with a few favorite spring sneakers), and today, I’m adding in a couple more.  I’ve been on a serious denim-buying kick these days, but I’ve found SO many affordable, flattering pairs lately that I’m like, why stop?  I love the fun distressing on this pair, and they fit like a glove.  They’re under $100, but I’ve actually found them on sale right over here.  The sneakers could not be more comfortable and fun for Spring, and if you haven’t scooped up this $17 tee yet, you’re missing out, babes.  (I actually just picked up a second because it’s such a favorite.)  Add in a cozy cardigan and the bag that always gets 1,000 compliments, and it’s the perfect look for running around town getting things done.  We’ve got a little over a month left in the rental house, so that means things need to kick into overdrive at our casa.  (The four to five days of predicted rain this week is throwing a little wrench into the plans…)  But the day moves on and here’s hoping everyone has an amazing week ahead.

Another day, another pair of distressed denim because, well, I’m obsessed.  I’ve had these Levi’s since last summer, and they are seriously a go-to.  I love the high rise and statement distressing, and they’re just plain comfy for all day wear.  Unfortunately these are now sold out in most sizes, with a few sizes left here, here, and here for lucky gals.  (I sized up 2 whole sizes from my normal “jegging” size because there is no stretch in these.)  If your size is gone or perhaps you’re just looking for a little something else, the denim show rolls on and I’m rounding up a few pairs below that are distressed just right.  The best part?  They’re all under $100 because although I think this style is here to stay for a while, there’s nothing wrong with scoring them for a steal.  I’m all about the budget denim lately and also own this pair and this one, with this pair next on my list.  Wear ’em all with heels, mules, or sneakers, and get ready to seriously fall in love.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Recapping cabi Scoop + a Little Throwback

In case you missed the, like, 475 photos and videos that I shared on my Instastory and Instagram, a couple of weeks ago I got to attend my second #cabiScoop, and it was just as bananas (in the best way possible) as my first.  I’m telling you, with each new model that walks out in something new for spring, the crowd of enthusiastic cabi gals seriously goes WILD.  It is such a fun event to be a part of, and I hope they keep inviting me back for the next 100 years.

This year’s Scoop may have even been a smidge more fun than last time because I got to catch up with one of my first blogger friends from years ago, Jen.  She and I got to check out the shopping event during Scoop (that I missed last year due to traffic) where they sell past seasons’ collections at super steals.  With my current legging uniform (all day, everyday), I couldn’t resist this oversized tee and cozy cardigan combo.  I’m sure it’s a little blast from the past for the cabi gals out there because I don’t even know how far back these pieces are from, but they’re new to me and oh-so-comfy.

Obviously during this particular cabi Scoop, Spring is the thing, and I’m so excited about the new collection.  It’s REALLY hard for me to even pick favorites, but I’d probably have to go with this killer blazer, the shirtdress I’ll wear a thousand times, or this long cardigan that’s probably way more versatile than you’d think.  You guys know I love a good stripe, so I may have to throw this tee into the mix as well.  Love.  OH!  And one last favorite – did I mention that this season they’ve come out with their first-ever shoes?  It’s true.  Two different styles, and I can’t decide which I love more.  If you missed out on the fun, check out the fun recap video below and then head over to cabi to start planning that Spring wishlist.

Motivation Monday

New year, new me, y’all.  This is my year for working out, eating right, drinking way more water, and getting more sleep, yada yada.  But then you help throw a friend’s chicken and waffles birthday dinner on Friday night because his favorite food is fried chicken strips and adding in waffles only seemed natural and you obviously had to bake a Funfetti cake to top it all off.  Naturally.  Add in a couple of very rainy days spent on the couch, and this Monday is feeling a little extra sluggish.

Buuuut, I suppose there’s no better time to get back on track, so I’m kicking things off this Motivation Monday with a green juice and some of the cutest new activewear from lucy.  Nothing like some sweet new sweat duds to get my booty back in motion, and lucy is always my favorite.  This year I’m looking to add in a few new workouts (suggestions welcome!) as well as sticking with my normal routine of walking a couple of miles along the beach path – just as soon as this cuckoo rain lets up and stops flooding our construction site house and ruining the wood floors, but that’s a story for a different day.  For today, I’m just going with this little tidbit of advice and couldn’t help but passing it along:

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

A Few of My Favorite (Cashmere) Things

Mmmm, nothing says Christmas to me quite like a cozy cashmere sweater, a cup of hot cocoa, and a fire in the fireplace.  Sounds pretty ideal to me.  Unfortunately the Louisiana forecast for Christmas this year is looking like a high of 77 degrees, so I’ll be doing none of the above.  Perhaps a sleeveless sweater dress, glass of cold champagne, and a fake fire crackling on the TV.  Thanks a lot, Mother Nature.  Regardless, you can’t stop my love of cashmere, and I’ll take any two-degree drop in weather around here and use it as an excuse to pull out my coziest gear.  Which is why I’ve worn the super soft cardigan above for, like, three days straight this week.  BRRR, so cold, SoCal.  So today I’m rounding up a few favorite cashmere finds this season, including a few total steals below.  (Cashmere can get pretty pricey, but there are deals to be found, y’all.)  And bonus, if you act quickly, you can get most of these to your door before Christmas morning.  You know, if Christmas is actually going to be cold where you’re spending it.  Hope everyone is having an amazing holiday week!

In years past my fall wardrobe (as well as my year-round wardrobe in general) has consisted of lots and lots of dark colors and plenty of black.  I mean, can you really go wrong with an all black look?  I think not.  So while I’m not completely turning my back on my beloved dark clothes, I have been so drawn to neutrals with the start of this fall.  Is there anything cozier than a head to toe, bundled up neutral look?  And it’s even better when you mix and match shades of grey, ivory, camel, winter white, and my favorite of the moment, blush pink.  (This little bag may have jump-started my obsession.)  Normally reserved for spring frocks, blush is everywhere this fall, from knit sweaters to mini dresses and so many accessories.  I mean, little blush dress with grey over-the-knee boots and this cocoon sweater?  I’m all in.
