Happy Sunday from Miami, friends!  If you’ve been following along on Instagram and Snapchat, then you probably know that I’ve been hanging out at Miami Swim Week with the Kyboe! team this weekend.  Miami has been a scorcher, but it couldn’t stop me from hitting up the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for all the new fall goodness.  Have you guys shopped the sale yet?  While I’m LOVING all of the boots, jackets, and scarves, I definitely wanted a few transitional pieces that I could start wearing now.  (Because who can let new clothes sit around unworn?  Kills me.)  This dress is definitely one of my favorite finds of the sale.  It’s lightweight and breezy for now but so easy to pair with a leather jacket and booties once fall rolls around.  Plus, the slit makes that whole “Angelina leg” thing make so much sense – you just can’t resist.

Need a little more motivation to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?  I’m teaming up with some of my favorite blogger gals to give one lucky winner a $500 gift card to Nordstrom.  So you can buy this dress.  You can buy 10 of them actually.  Although maybe that’s a little overkill, and there are a ton of other things you may want to get your hands on, just saying.  So click around below to enter – a winner will be chosen on Thursday, July 21st.  Good luck!

Well here’s some shocking news: I am NOT ready for the weekend to be over, and somehow, Monday rolled around anyway.  So rude.  This weekend my pestering paid off, and we headed to Palm Springs on Saturday.  After a couple of days of pool time, a pretty sweet hammock nap, dinner at Ruben & Ozzy’s, and drinks at the Bootlegger Tiki, it’s back to the real world and back to the Pilates reformer.  (That part can’t come soon enough.)

One thing that definitely made the desert trip with me this weekend: this denim dress.  Although denim may not sound like the most lightweight material to take to 109 degree heat, I’m telling you, this dress is about as airy as they come.  (I’ve got a thing for all denim dresses, really.  Remember this one from last year?  Still wearing the heck out of it.)  The fit is nice and loose, and I love the roomy sleeves – they’re like built-in air conditioning.

This was probably my favorite purchase in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, and it sold out FAST.  Real fast.  Currently it’s back in stock in a couple of sizes, and if your size is there, I can’t recommend this little shirtdress more.  And if your size is still gone, then I’m rounding up a few more denim dresses below that are definitely worth checking out.  (Because nothing breaks up the Monday blues like a little online shopping, right?)

High Rise Denim That’s Actually High Enough

Anyone tired of hearing about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale yet?  Oh come on now, the sale fun is just getting started.  I have a ton more sale content coming your way, but for now, here’s a fun striped top that I’ve been meaning to get up on the blog for weeks now.  I love the dramatic tie waist of this blouse and am always loving anything striped for summer.

The jeans I’ve worn quite a few times over on the old ‘gram (here and here), and they seriously fit like a dream.  The “high rise” is actually high enough – what’s up with all the phony high rise denim these days?  And the best part?  Even though the blouse and jeans aren’t IN the #nsale, they are currently both ON sale.  So that’s a win, right?

Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

Shorts All Day, Everyday

After spending a couple of days in Palm Springs this week and coming home to some hot Orange County weather, it’s no wonder I’m thinking shorts all day, everyday around here lately.  I mean, the hot-and-bothered effect has been REAL strong at our house.  Yesterday I escaped the house for a few hours (yes, a few hours) to shop around the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and I really don’t know what was better – the deals or the mall air conditioning.  I’m thinking it was a combo of both.  (And if you haven’t checked out the Anniversary sale yet, get on it, girl.)

But I digress.  So for the second time this week, I’m giving the cold shoulder, and this lightweight blouse is a serious summer keeper.  It’s easy as pie with jeans or shorts, but in today’s post I’m tempting fate with the ultimate risky move: white denim shorts.  Is it even possible to wear white denim without immediately spilling something on yourself?  Or sitting on something mysterious?  I think not, but on this particular day, I managed to escape unscathed.  Now that’s a white denim win, friends.

So here’s to a happy weekend ahead and a ton more weekend wins.

Miami Swim Week With Kyboe

This past weekend I got to check out my first Miami Swim Week with Kyboe, and it was just as much fun as I had imagined.  My original thought was how in the world are they going to have a fashion show made up of only watches?  But when the show started, it didn’t disappoint.   The show started off with the unveiling of a conveyor belt down the center of the runway, and watches started slowly moving forward on pre-positioned mannequin hands.  Sounds kind of funny, right?  It was.  And all I kept thinking was holy cow, they got all of these people to this show to watch mannequin hands.  Genius.  But after a couple of minutes, models also began making their way down the runway wearing adorable swimsuits that matched their Kyboe watches.  I thought it was super fun, and the more that I got to know the Kyboe team over the weekend, I realized that fun is what they are all about.

Also just as I had imagined it?  The humid Miami heat.  (I will say that I think New Orleans was hotter, but still – Miami Swim Week was toasty.)  Little dresses like this one were about all I could manage, but this little lace-up top that I scooped up from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale was breezier than you might think.  It’s super lightweight and is perfect for pairing with my favorite denim shorts that I’ve worn to death.  Once fall rolls around, I can’t wait to wear it with flares or cropped skinnies and booties.  Stay tuned this week for more looks from Miami and more of my favorite finds from the #nsale.

The worst part about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (besides me annoying you about it, like, every single day) is that once you get your hands on your shiny new fall steals, it seems like an eternity until you’ll get to wear them.  So I figured what the hell, why not take them for an early spin.  (#liveyourlife)  I’ve posted this denim trench on Instagram precisely three times now because it’s my favorite sale find, and I’m trying to make sure you don’t miss out, girl.  The faux suede skirt was actually the first piece I had to have from the sale because it’s such a classic staple that I’ll wear year after year.  It’s a perfect goes-with-anything camel color, and it’s just about as soft as you might imagine.  The wrap-front blouse is light enough to wear now and later layered into the fall.  Want a similar bag and shoes?  Those are also on sale, but only for a couple more days.  Prices go up on Monday, August 3rd, so this weekend, better get your shop on.

I was first drawn to these wayf trousers because they’re part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (no-brainer), and they seemed like an easy enough pair to work into my wardrobe.  They’re comfortable and classic and add instant polish to an outfit, and now that I’ve had them for a couple of weeks, they’ve become one of my favorite pieces for transitioning to fall.  (It’s in a few short weeks, people.  Brace yourselves.)  They’ve got a slimming front waistband with elastic in the back, so they’re an easy, pull-on style.  So far I’ve found them best with the shorter tops and tanks in my closet, and come fall, I’m thinking they’ll be perfect with cropped sweaters.  Annnd did I mention they’re under $45?  If you’re in need of a great pair of trousers, scoop these up before they go back to full price on Monday.  Happy almost Friday!

Happy almost Friday, everyone.  Today’s post is a little throwback to my 4th of July outfit from last weekend, and I’m pretty much obsessed with this little tasseled dress.  It’s the softest fabric ever and will set you back about 15 bucks.  Did I mention it’s tasseled?  It’s a good one.  Today I’m off to check out a service from Unbooked Appointments, a great new website that’s all about finding you the best deals on beauty, hair treatments, massages, workouts, and tons more.  But more on that next week.  Today also starts the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for all Nordstrom card holders.  (If you’re not a card holder, you can still take a peek here.)  It’s the best, best, best sale of the year, so I’ll be bringing you all my favorite must-shop picks over the next couple of weeks.  Stay tuned!
