Happy Tuesday, friends! Did anyone else completely take the day off yesterday for Presidents’ Day? I really can’t remember the last time I had a full-on lazy day lounging with the pups with zero responsibilities (slash none that couldn’t wait until today), and it was glorious. We also went to bed super early snuggled under a ton of blankets because currently in Southern California, it IS COLD. Eric left for work this morning with ice on his car, and we’ve been using our heater more in the last couple of weeks than we did all last winter.
But cold or no cold, spring fashion is on its way, and I am ready for it. A few weeks ago I got to once again attend cabi’s annual “Scoop” fashion show, and it was just as fun as ever. I’ve chatted about it here before, but cabi Scoop just epitomizes the idea of women supporting women. It’s a huge room filled with ladies who seem to genuinely love what they do and are also SERIOUSLY enthused about the next season of fashion from cabi. And when I saw the spring runway, I was pretty enthused myself. We’re talking a slew of spring blouses, three pairs of wear-everywhere shoes, a handful of adorable sweaters and cardigans, the basic knit tees that have become my go-to favorites, and so much more.
If you missed out on the Scoop it, take a look at the video below to see the a peek at cabi’s spring line, and scroll down for a few of my favorites (including this striped blouse that will be on the blog soon). Which pieces would you guys like to snag for spring?
In case you missed the, like, 475 photos and videos that I shared on my Instastory and Instagram, a couple of weeks ago I got to attend my second #cabiScoop, and it was just as bananas (in the best way possible) as my first. I’m telling you, with each new model that walks out in something new for spring, the crowd of enthusiastic cabi gals seriously goes WILD. It is such a fun event to be a part of, and I hope they keep inviting me back for the next 100 years.
This year’s Scoop may have even been a smidge more fun than last time because I got to catch up with one of my first blogger friends from years ago, Jen. She and I got to check out the shopping event during Scoop (that I missed last year due to traffic) where they sell past seasons’ collections at super steals. With my current legging uniform (all day, everyday), I couldn’t resist this oversized tee and cozy cardigan combo. I’m sure it’s a little blast from the past for the cabi gals out there because I don’t even know how far back these pieces are from, but they’re new to me and oh-so-comfy.
Obviously during this particular cabi Scoop, Spring is the thing, and I’m so excited about the new collection. It’s REALLY hard for me to even pick favorites, but I’d probably have to go with this killer blazer, the shirtdress I’ll wear a thousand times, or this long cardigan that’s probably way more versatile than you’d think. You guys know I love a good stripe, so I may have to throw this tee into the mix as well. Love. OH! And one last favorite – did I mention that this season they’ve come out with their first-ever shoes? It’s true. Two different styles, and I can’t decide which I love more. If you missed out on the fun, check out the fun recap video below and then head over to cabi to start planning that Spring wishlist.
If there’s one trend from 2016 that I fully embraced, it was the bomber jacket. Quilted, sequined, Pink Lady style, or in dress form, I had a real love for anything bomber style, and lucky for me, the trend isn’t going anywhere just yet. This little striped bomber is lightweight and perfect for transitioning to spring, and it comes in two more adorable prints (here and here).
But perhaps we’re a little early to be wearing spring, so for now I’m layering this little jacket with the cabi vest that I’ve worn a few thousand times. cabi has been a favorite of mine season after season, and I can’t wait to see the brand new Spring 2017 collection revealed this week at cabiScoop. This will be my second time attending the Scoop in San Diego, and it really is such a fun event. It’s a giant fashion show event packed with cabi stylists from all around the country. It has an amazing community feel of women supporting women and just genuine happiness. If you can’t make it to the Scoop, make sure you tune in online to see the Spring collection as it comes down the runway, and follow along on my Instagram story where I’ll be sharing as well. Hope everyone is having an amazing week so far!
Happy Monday, lovelies. How was everyone’s weekend? Today I’m spilling the beans on one of my favorite brands season after season, cabi. Over the years I’ve worn quite a few cabi pieces, and it’s with good reason. The entire collection is meant to be mixed, matched, and worn a ton of different ways, and the quality is just so good. I’ve got favorite jackets and one particular blouse that I’ve worn for years now, and they still look brand new. cabi is sold through a community of female stylists (over 3500 of them currently), and although I’m not a cabi stylist, this week I’ll get to join them at their bi-annual “The Scoop” in San Diego. I’m so excited to check out their Spring 2016 collection at this year’s Scoop fashion show on Thursday and can’t wait to share it all with you guys on my Twitter and Instagram! So tune in this Thursday at 4 pm (PST), and in the meantime, check out the video below for a sneak peek. I’ve already got my eye on so. many. pieces.
Disclosure: This post is in collaboration with cabi, but all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make My Style Diaries possible.
Recently I got to accompany the cabi team to their annual #cabiScoop event in San Diego. It was basically the most fun runway show you can imagine with the entire crowd clapping, cheering and going nuts over each new runway look. It was the unveiling of cabi’s spring collection, and the audience was filled with cabi stylists who would be selling the pieces. The show and whole night were so much fun, and the spring collection is really good. So many great colors and prints, flattering cuts, and classic staples. This poncho is probably my favorite piece and is so versatile for spring. The boyfriend jeans are easy and comfortable, and the tee will definitely be overused these next few months. Check out the full collection here, and stay tuned for more pieces coming to the blog soon. Hope everyone has a great start to the week!
You guys, it really is true what they say: people in Southern California are complete babies when it comes to cold weather. (I actually have no idea if “they” say that, but they should.) This year we’ve had more winter-ish weather than I can remember in years past, and it looks like we’ve got a bunch of chilly (and even, gasp, rainy) days ahead. Eric cannot stop talking about spring, and me? I just keep finding more faux fur to love.
I snagged this little vest on major sale during cabi Scoop back in January, and I just love the colors. It was only available about 2 to 3 sizes bigger than I’d normally buy from cabi, but the sides of the vest are woven fabric so I knew it would be an easy fix for a tailor. This vest is sadly no longer available, but I did find a couple of brand new options on ebay and am linking a few similar styles below.
Annnnd surprise, surprise – that pair of black skinnies again. I know I’m pretty much a broken record about this, but if you like high rise denim and have not tried Madewell’s high rise skinnies yet, you are seriously missing out. They come in 9 and 10 inch rises in a million washes and are available in regular, petite, long, curvy, and maternity versions because sometimes it’s nice to have ALL of the options, right?
Happy February, friends! Is that wild or what? I blinked and January was gone, but I did notice this week that the days seem to be getting a smidge longer, and I have to say, I am here for it. Maybe it’s because last spring was effectively cancelled by Covid, but I’ve never been so ready for the time change to happen. (Perhaps that’s why I’m pulling out the white jeans a tad early…)
Today I’m back with some of my recent fave finds from Amazon, and these might be some of my favorite ones yet. (Hello, Kindle Paperwhite.)
White skinny jeans that don’t suck – I could NOT tell you why I found myself perusing my arch nemesis – white denim, obviously – on the interwebs late at night last week, but somehow I found myself doing just that. I’ll go ahead and blame that dry January boredom and the fact that Amazon Prime gets me every time, but a few clicks later and I had three pairs headed to my doorstep. I don’t wanna talk about the other two pairs, but I was pretty shocked at how much I like the pair above. For under 50 bucks, I’m just as surprised as you are.
The tastiest cinnamon tea – Well since I mentioned dry January, I’ve got to let you guys know about the Bengal tea, a nice little nighttime replacement for that glass of wine. Eric and I have actually been big hot tea drinkers for a while, but this one is definitely our new favorite. My mother-in-law introduced us to this tea, and we were hooked from our first cup. So what’s a girl to do besides immediately ordering six boxes of it??
My Kindle Paperwhite – I’ve been an off and on reader for years now – a book here, a book there, three books back to back, and then a few months off – but after watching ALL the shows we could in 2020, I’ve been on a serious reading kick. I’m a hundred years late to the Kindle game, but a friend recently convinced me to get one, and I’m just so mad that I didn’t buy one sooner. I think my main concern was how reading on a Kindle might affect my eyes, but it’s 100% not the same as looking at a computer screen all day. I love how small and compact it is and especially love it for reading in bed at night. The screen is so crystal clear. Another bonus is that I don’t have to have a “next book” ready and on deck for when I finish one – I can just grab whatever I want to read next on the spot from the Amazon store. (A reader also just told me about the Overdrive App that allows you to use a library card to check out books to your Kindle – mind officially blown and will definitely be checking that out.). If you’ve been waiting to get one like me, now’s the perfect time because they’re currently on sale – $35 off.
Personalized nameplate necklace – I was HIGHLY skeptical when I ordered this necklace, but I was so pleasantly surprised when I received it. A custom, nameplate necklace that’s made of sterling silver and plated in 24k gold for under $20? It certainly sounds too good to be true. It feels a little lightweight for sure, but I’ve been wearing it a ton over the last three months and so far, so good. Can’t recommend this one enough for yourself or as a cute little gift for a gal in your life.
These super flattering joggers – I saw Beth from Seersucker + Saddles chatting up these joggers and decided to give them a try. I wasn’t sure about the fabric at first, but it actually grew on me really quickly. It’s sort of a silky, more workout material if that makes sense? I don’t know, just know that they’re super comfy and somehow very flattering – I put them on and felt instantly slimmer.
Affordable workout leggings – New year, new me, new workouts, right? Well for me, new workout goals and new workout gear go hand in hand, but I always get a little sticker shock when it comes to grabbing the new gear. Holy money bags, workout clothes can be SO expensive. While I do think some of the pricey pieces can be worth it (I gotta admit, I really freaking love these Alo leggings), I also am a sucker for a good deal. I’ve heard so many good things about these $25 Amazon leggings, and for the price, I have to say they really are great. I would probably pay much more for them – the fabric is really nice, and they stay put through workouts. I did order a return one of the lighter colors though because I found them to be pretty see-through, so I’d stick with black or the darker colors.
A pickleball net and paddle set – While we’re getting sporty and talking workout gear, let’s talk about our new favorite weekend game, pickleball. I feel like pickleball popped up everywhere during the shutdown and for good reason – it’s really fun. We had no idea how the game was even played, but we ordered the net and paddles, watched a Youtube video or two, and then used sidewalk chalk to draw out a court right in the street in front of our house. It’s basically like life-size table tennis, and it’s actually a pretty good workout. (This household admittedly had some very sore muscles the next morning.)
A couple new Carve Designs swimsuits – I couldn’t stop raving about this Carve Designs one piece swimsuit last year, so recently I grabbed it in a couple more prints. It’s honestly the most comfy swimsuit I own, and I love that it comes in both standard sizes and D-DD cup sizing. It comes in a ton of different prints, and if you click around the different prints and sizes, you can find some of them for a total steal. (Although even at full price, it’s not a bad deal.)
Well sure, a tunic-y sweater like this one was probably meant to be worn with skinny jeans or leggings or as a dress by a seriously petite gal, but it’s 2017 dammit, and there’s just no rule against wearing it over your favorite little body-con dress. (Same dress from this post, BTW.) How else are you supposed to wear said body-con dress post-holidays and pre-cleanse? (More about the cleanse coming later, and if you saw my Instagram story last night, don’t judge. I totally cheated for my last dinner of the cleanse because I committed to going to the opening of Bonchon OC last night with the husband, and who am I to cancel date night? It’s bad form. That last Juice Served Here bowl shall make the best lunch tomorrow. Anywho…)
If your weather happens to be tightrope-walking winter and spring like ours is currently with chilly mornings and nights and pretty hot afternoons, then you just toss that favorite chunky knit over a dress, add your favorite ankle booties, and get on with your day. Grab a green juice and some fried chicken while you’re at it because life’s about balance, y’all. That’s what I’m telling myself, anyways. Hope everyone is having a great week and hope you guys are following along on Instagram as I’m heading to San Diego for #cabiScoop today. Head over to my Instagram and Instagram story for sneak peeks!
Why is it when I have the most work to do, I find myself doing the MOST online shopping? Well, I’m sure that’s not a hard one to figure out: procrastination at its finest, y’all. But also, part of my job? Sure, we’ll go with that. The new arrivals are seriously EVERYWHERE, and so many of them are just staring at me, like, buy me. So today I’m rounding up 13 pieces that are currently on my radar. I scooped up these velvet beauties this week, and now I’m like, do I need the leather ones at number six too? Maybe? Probably. The fur-embellished sneakers and patchwork jeans (same brand as these that I wear all the time) are next on my list as well as a pair of metallic sneakers for spring. Also, loving this big tote for any upcoming travel plans – totes made from this material always have the most comfortable padded straps. I need new sunglasses like I need a hole in my head, but somehow the perfectly mirrored pair under $20 just gets me every time – add ’em to the collection, hoarder. So basically the list goes on and on, but hey, that’s fashion, right? What pieces are you guys looking to add to your wardrobe this month?
What do you do when you’ve got a little chiffon dress just calling your name but it’s, ya know, winter? Grab your favorite turtleneck and layer up, friends. I’ve pretty much worn this little layering turtleneck on repeat this fall and winter, and I’ve just found a super similar version that’s under $40 and available in six colors. I’m thinking I may need to scoop up the ivory version STAT. (I also just Googled what the letters in STAT stand for. Turns out, nothing – not an acronym.) Anywho, just layer the dress that you’re trying to wear over a thin turtleneck, and add a little outerwear. A shearling vest is the perfect way to stay warm, and there are a ton of great options here. (Bonus points for any clothing that feels like an oversized teddy bear.) Over-the-knee boots add the perfect finishing touch because they’re, like, almost pants, right? I’m obsessed with this grey pair. Once the temperatures warm up for spring, I can’t wait to break out this dress again with sandals or wedges, and if you love it like I do, then you’re in luck. It’s currently 25% off, just in time to wear it now and later into Spring. Versatile pieces that hop from season to season? Happy layering, friends!
