My 2023 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

Brixton straw hat; Isabel Marant sunglasses; Farm Rio belted dress; Kate Spade straw hat; Beis mini weekender bag; Beis carryon luggage; Nordstrom cubic zirconia bracelet; Tie-strap floral dress; Birkenstock sandals; Rails denim skirt

My favorite sale of the year is here – well, sort of. Almost. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opened today to top tier cardholders (which does not include me) and will open to all cardholders on Thursday. (The sale opens to the public on July 17th.) I spent a whole lot of time combing through the sale this past week, and here are some of my favorite finds.

This year, the denim and the sneakers are the two main standout categories to me. I saw so many great denim finds that I actually forced myself to try on all of my jeans over the weekend so that I could make room for new pairs. And while I don’t need any more sneakers, there’s no harm in looking, right? If you’ve had your eye on a pair of New Balance 327’s, now is the time to grab them. I seriously wear mine ALL the time and think they are so comfortable.

And while most of the sale finds are fall pieces, above I’m highlighting some of my favorite summer-ready buys that you can buy now and enjoy now. And below I’ve got some of my favorite denim, designer (that leather jacket!), sneaker, and boot finds. Obviously, this is one of a million sales going on right now (hello, Amazon Prime Day, Circle Week, Walmart+ Week, etc.), and it can get a little overwhelming. Just know that sales come and go, but if you’re shopping for something in particular, here’s hoping you find something you love.

New Favorite Spring Finds from Walmart

Spring Finds from Walmart | My Style Diaries blogger Nikki Prendergast Scoop pants from WalmartTime & Tru bodysuitFrench Connection sandalsBottega handbagAmazon bangles

OK, friends, it’s been a minute, but my latest Walmart order came in, and (I’ve said this before but…) this one may be my favorite one yet.  Literally almost everything I ordered worked out like I hoped, but here are some of my favorites from the bunch.

  1. These linen blend green pants (above) – I had high hopes for these linen pants, and they were even better than I hoped.  Online, they look like they’re a cropped length, but in person, they’re definitely a longer length which I prefer.  Super comfy with pockets and an elastic high waist, these also come in black, and I’m pretty tempted to order those too.  (The bodysuit that I paired with them is sold out but now comes in a tank version that’s around $10 and so GOOD.)
  2. These wide leg cropped jeans (below) –  OK, these were a total surprise.  I have been needing to order a new pair of denim (in a smaller size, yippee!), but I didn’t really want to commit to a higher-priced pair while I’m still working on some sort of fitness journey.  So I ordered these to try and holy moly I am thrilled.  The fabric feels like an expensive pair, the fit is super comfy, and I really love the wash.  Oh, and they’re under $30.  These also come in a couple different washes as well as white denim which I will be ordering in my size for sure.
  3. These white denim shorts (below) – I’m pretty sure I had this same pair of shorts last year in ivory, and I wore the crap out of them.  So when I saw them in stark white this year, it was a no-brainer.  I go up a size or two in these because that’s just how I like to wear denim shorts.
  4. Multi-band slides (below) – These are SO cute and look just like a more expensive pair that I’ve seen everywhere this year.  When I got them in, I thought maybe they’d be too narrow on my feet, but they’re actually super comfy and flattering on.  These come in four colors – the black ones are probably my faves, but I already have black sandals that are similar – and are currently on sale for $12.  I do love the blush pink and mint green options for spring and summer.

Cute and Comfy Spring Sweater Sets

My love for a good matching set has been well documented over the last couple of years, and right now for spring I’m especially loving cute and comfy sweater sets.  I’ve worn these little sweater sets from Target for years (which are still available here and here), but recently I grabbed a couple of new sets in fresh spring colors.  I love that they can be worn together (like above) or separately with jeans or denim shorts (see below) to create quite a few outfits.  Plus, they’re as comfy as a favorite set of PJ’s.  Just add sneakers or sandals and you’re good to go.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

A New Favorite Spring Skirt

Recently while on the online hunt for all the spring things, this little sarong-like skirt caught my eye on the Free People site.  I immediately added to cart but then kept it there for a few days because it’s admittedly a bit of a splurge.  Well I finally pulled the trigger and am so happy that I did.  It’s surprisingly versatile paired with a lightweight sweater and booties or a favorite faux leather jacket for now and then sandals and beachy accessories later once the weather warms up.  (See below.)

It’s predictably super comfy, and I find it runs true to size.  Now, if I can only convince myself that I don’t need the yellow color in it too 😉  Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

St. Patrick’s Day is this week, and while I’m not always 100% into celebrating, I am conveniently VERY drawn to all things green this season.  And luckily, green is everywhere for spring in every shade you could want.  From lightweight sweaters and comfy loungewear to bold handbags and sandals, I’ve found so many new favorite green pieces lately.

So today I’m sharing a couple of favorite St. Patty’s Day ready looks with quick shipping that can arrive in time for the party.  (Also apologies for the last vacay-ready look to all of you still stuck in snowy weather – I’ll be in Palm Springs for St. Patty’s Day where it will be 85 and sunny, so I had to!) You can also check out this post for a few more green ideas.  Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

Hello, friends!  Love it or hate it, the Hallmark holiday of love is upon us.  And while it’s easy to call it stupid and talk down on the whole song and dance, I gotta admit I’ll take any excuse to get dressed up and go out these days.  (I blame 2020.)  So this year, I’ll be celebrating Galentine’s Day with a little girls’ dinner and Valentine’s Day with my main squeeze.  (Although Valentine’s Day with Eric will be a few days early because I got reservations at a cute little beach restaurant I’ve been wanting to check out and because going out to eat on the actual 14th is a real racket.)

And so today I’m sharing a couple of cute and comfy Valentine’s looks at a couple different price points in case you’re looking to rock a little red for this sort-of-fake holiday.  And you’ll probably notice I’m playing favorites in the accessories department – just can’t quit these boot / hat combos.  (Also, we’re currently in a heatwave in SoCal, so no coat in sight, but if you’re not so lucky in the weather department, add a coat, a pair of tights, and chic black boots.)

Here’s hoping everyone has a great rest of their week!

The Best Budget-Friendly Weekend Joggers

It’s no secret that I LIVE for an athleisure slash loungewear look, and when I can find great comfy basics that are also budget-friendly?  Well I’d be a bad blogger friend not to share.  I snagged these joggers (and the matching sweatshirt) a few months ago actually and have worn them so much that I just ordered the set in a second color.  (I went with white, but there are currently 12 colors to choose from.)

I wash and dry (over and over) with zero issues, and I just love the overall fit.  (I own the joggers in small and medium but prefer the small, and I have the sweatshirt in a large.)  I also love that you can easily mix and match the pieces with other closet basics.  If you’re like me and always on the hunt for the best weekend lounge essentials (or maybe looking for something cozy to kick back and watch the Super Bowl in), I can’t recommend this set more.

Hope everyone is having a great start to February!

I’m sure it goes without saying that I love clothes.  I wouldn’t have started this blog ten years ago if I didn’t.  But as much as I love clothing, my true weakness is handbags.  (And shoes and all accessories if I’m being honest.)  And while I do love an occasional designer bag splurge, I LOVE when I find a brand of handbags that only look expensive.  I’d be a bad internet friend if I didn’t share my favorite affordable handbag line with you guys, so today I’m sharing some of my fave bags from Scarleton with a discount code cherry on top.

I’ve tried a handful of Scarleton bags at this point, and every single one of them looks and feels so much more expensive than it actually is.  If you’re a backpack-loving gal, then I can’t recommend the backpack below more.  It’s structured and roomy with adjustable straps and would be so great as a carryon for travel.  The little white top handle is so versatile and pretty for spring and summer, but by far my favorite bag is this little crossbody that I now have in black and red.  (Also currently crushing on the green, so PRETTY!)  It’s the perfect size for everyday and comes with two different strap options, so it’s super versatile.

And right now my friends over at Scarleton are offering 15% off any of the bags here with code 15MYSTYLE.  (You can type in the discount code during Amazon checkout.)  I hope you guys love these as much as I do!

Happy December, friends!  Ahh, my favorite month of the year.  It’s the month of so many fun gatherings – Christmas parties, boat parades, girls’ holiday dinners, our annual white elephant party – and so many opportunities to get dressed up.  While we don’t have anything fancy on deck (yet!) this year, there will be plenty of occasions to pull out these go-to sweater dresses.  These two above and below are my absolute favorites right now –  so easy to dress up or down – and they happen to both be affordable finds.

So if you’ve got an upcoming holiday shindig that has you stumped in the wardrobe department, try one of these comfy, cozy sweater dresses.  (And don’t forget to scroll through the options at the bottom of this post for even more fun finds.)  Hope everyone has a great December ahead!

If you thought that the Western-style boot trend this fall wasn’t for you, maybe give it another chance.  When I saw the trend coming, I was kind of into it, but now I’m INTO it.  My everyday life is admittedly heavy on the sneaker-wearing, but for a night out or date night dinner this time of year, boots are a go-to.  And right now I’m loving the mid-calf, loose-fitting Western-style boots that are seriously everywhere.  I just think they’re so flattering with dresses, skirts, and leather shorts.  Sadly my two current pairs are sold out, but I’m rounding up nine new pairs below that I love.  (And admittedly, I’ve already ordered a couple of them for myself – oops!)
