Happy hump day, people!  Celebrating a little #WarmUpWednesday with Six:02 in my favorite kind of weekday look.  It’s sweat style meets street style, and it’s probably one of the most realistic get-ups for my life these days.  It’s the last couple of days before Christmas, and I’ve been running around like a wild woman trying to grab all those last-minute gifts and tie up loose ends before the end of the year.  One of my favorite workout to out-and-about brands these days is Alala, and Six:02 has a ton of great options.  These leggings are the perfect suck-you-in fabric with contrast panels down the side, and the dolman top is probably my favorite.  It’s loose and long with pockets – an obvious choice.  Throw on an easy leather jacket and comfy sneakers, and you’re ready to hit the pavement while keeping warm and cozy.

Bringing Back the Holidays

It’s the season of sparkle, the season of spiced cider and eggnog, the season of trees and wreaths, and most importantly, the season of giving.  It seems like the “giving” part sometimes gets lost in all the hustle and bustle, and we end up grabbing this or that because we need a last-minute gift.  This year, I’m trying to change that, and I’m teaming up with T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods to “bring back the holidays.”  Armed with a gift card and full blast Christmas music, I headed to T.J.Maxx to find the perfect gift for someone deserving this season.  I chose Eric’s (and my soon-to-be) aunt Jeri who lives in Boston, and I can think of no one who deserves a thoughtful gift more this season.  More than just an aunt, this April she’ll be the one who marries us.  She’s just the best, and unfortunately we won’t get to spend the holidays with her this year.  She’s all about her family and her kids, and I wanted to get her a gift that was just for her.  Nothing for the home, nothing to share, just something for her to enjoy.  And she’s a fashionable gal, so a handbag just seemed perfect.  I narrowed my choices down to two: one (gorgeous) leather and calfhair bag that’s great for everyday and one luxe clutch that she could take out to dinner with her girlfriends.  I don’t want to spoil the surprise, so I won’t tell you which bag won.  But I will say, it took all my strength not to keep the second bag for myself.  (They’re so good, right?!)  I’m so excited for this gift and can’t wait to ship it off to Boston.  It’s the season of giving, y’all, and it’s time to bring back the holidays.  Who will you surprise this season?

Like most women I know, there are definitely days where I could switch out my entire wardrobe for workout clothes and never look back. You know, live the dream basically. There are many reasons that wouldn’t actually work in my life, but with the amazing activewear options available these days, I can at least look pulled together when I have to take my look from gym to street. Case in point? The brand-new Derek Lam 10C Athleta collection. It’s serious, people. Filled with colorblocked gym staples, leather pieces, and cashmere sweaters, the collection will put a chic twist on your normal sweat style. (And maybe give you a reason to hit the gym in the first place?)

My workout of choice is definitely a Pilates reformer class, and after my favorite trainer Erica Ziel moved to Iowa, I found Core Reform Pilates in Costa Mesa. I’m now obsessed like a straight-up crazy person and try to go to a class at least five times a week. After class I sometimes have actual things going on in my life, and I try not to look like a sweaty Spandex mess for said actual things, ya know? So I’m REALLY into the idea of throwing on a luxe cashmere sweater (once the weather cools down) over my workout gear, adding a bright handbag, and finishing with a few jewels. Suddenly, this whole workout-wear all the time thing seems more realistic than ever. But hey, don’t take my word for it – join me, people! Check out the new Derek Lam 10C Athleta collection for yourself online and in select stores.

Last week I met up with Kathleen for happy hour at one of my favorite spots in Newport Beach, The Cannery.  After much gabbing and a couple of cocktails, we snapped these photos right outside of the restaurant.  I had plans of wearing a cute little dress and heeled sandals all day, but I lost track of time and threw on these glorified sweats on my way out the door.  I love Riller & Fount’s ultra-soft knitwear, and this little t-shirt dress is no exception.  Since I walked the few blocks there, a plaid around the waist, wedge sneakers, and sassy shades helped finish off the look.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Fit Style Meets Street Style

PicturePicture

Sometimes the only time I have to squeeze in a little exercise is right smack in the middle of my day, so it’s always nice to have a few great workout basics that can easily transition from “fit style” to “street style” with little effort.  Today I’m partnering with Athleta, and I must say, their spring collection definitely made it difficult to narrow down my choices.  There are so many great options in fun colors to help you shake off those winter blues and get motivated.  For my personal “fit style”, I love a great-fitting legging with something looser up top, and this tight and dolman tee combo fit the bill perfectly.  Afterwards, I took off the coral top and threw on a leather jacket over the fun printed tank.  I switched up my sneakers for a more street-friendly wedge version and threw on a beanie and scarf.  By adding in some great new pieces to my spring workout wardrobe, I’ll definitely be less likely to make excuses and more likely to get out and get moving.  Head over to Athleta to get a little fit-spiration of your own.  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

After last weekend’s amazing trip to New York and this week’s busy schedule of playing catch-up, my body is finally feeling the recent lack of sleep.  This weekend I’ll be taking it easy (and maybe taking a nap or two), and I couldn’t be happier about it.  Super Bowl Sunday is the perfect time to relax, indulge in a few (too many) snacks, and check out the latest million-dollar commercials.  In preparation for this weekend, today’s look is a little bit sporty and a lotta bit comfy.  Sweatshirt dresses are an absolute weakness of mine, and for about 20 bucks, this one was screaming my name at Forever 21.  These sneakers have rarely left my feet over the last week, and pre-Fashion Week, my feet are definitely thanking me.  Finished things off with an old favorite scarf and a new favorite bag (scooped up at H&M for about $7 – score).  Happy Friday, and hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

Ahh, New York.  It’s been my home away from home for the last three days, and it’s been an incredible little trip.  Along with three other bloggers (Naty, Amy, and Katie), I had the amazing opportunity to shoot with Lucky Magazine and P&G for their New Voices of Beauty campaign, thanks to your votes!  On Sunday we headed out to brunch with a couple of Lucky editors and then out in SOHO for a little shopping.  We had such a great (and freezing!) day and weekend, and I can’t wait to share the finished video with you guys in a few weeks.  Today I’m headed home to California, but I can’t wait to make it back in a few short days for Fashion Week.  There really is something so special about this city.  Thank you so much to Lucky Magazine and P&G for hosting us this weekend, and thank you all for your votes that made this little dream weekend possible.  Hope everyone is having a great week so far!
