New York Fashion Week only comes a couple times a year, and I so look forward to it each time. It’s a week of reconnecting with brands, bloggers, and friends that I rarely get to actually see in person; a week of brunches, lunches, and wine-filled dinners; a week of high fashion and street style, a bit of shopping and dressing up. But it’s also a week of—and I say this for lack of a better word—hustle. We run around like cuckoo birds, trying to snap some normal-looking pictures along the way, and my bag is stuffed with a backup phone charger, fold-up flats, and snacks. Seriously, my number-one rule: bring a snack. Hangry is not a good look, and I’m currently all about these protein-packed thinkThin® bars.
We pack our days from morning until night with all that we can squeeze into them, and during this past week’s frigid temps, it was a little draining. Sometimes you just need a night off, you know? So our group has a little tradition. We pick one night of the trip, make no working plans, have a little wine, and just go out dancing. We dress down—like, WAY down—and don’t care who sees it. (Seriously, I wore the sweater above out and was calling it my “librarian chic” look.) We don’t check emails or social media (although videos have been known to end up on Snapchat…) and just have a good time with friends. It’s by far my favorite guiltless pleasure at Fashion Week, and one that we plan to continue as long as these feet can dance. In these crazy winter months, what are some of your favorite guiltless pleasures?
