Fall Lace

I’ve never had a job with the typical nine-to-five office attire, but sometimes it’s fun to dress the part.  I love a good pencil skirt, and in burgundy lace, this one from CAbi is perfect for fall.  Calf-hair leopard pumps create contrast, while a tucked black blouse and structured handbag add polish.  If a buttoned-up dress code is part of your weekday routine, it’s easy to get stuck in a boring rut, but adding in a few textured pieces for fall can really change your options.  Hope everyone has a great week!

Dittos jeans (c/o);  CAbi blouse and jacket (c/o);  Rebecca Minkoff bag (c/o) Paula & Chlo;  Persol sunglasses (similar);  Kendra Phillip necklace (c/o);  Ariel Gordon Jewelry ring (c/o);  Wantable bracelet (c/o);  Caravelle watch

Today’s look is one of my favorite spring combos: flared denim, an easy white blouse, and a shrunken blazer to help add shape.  I absolutely love this little textured jacket from CAbi, and I can already tell that the blouse will be a favorite for seasons to come.  The flares are a recent release from Dittos, and the denim is just the softest.  I topped it all off with a contrasting handbag, a few silver jewels, and sunglasses borrowed from the boyfriend.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

The Lodge at The North Rim
Picture

After Thursday’s YOUphoria event with Nordstrom, the boyfriend and I took off on a little road trip for a couple days.  The fine folks over at Cadillac provided us with a sweet SRX, so we hit the road in comfort and style.  (Seriously, it was nice.)  On Friday we headed up to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, which is one of our favorite places to visit.  If you’ve never been to the North Rim, it really is a must-see.  The weather and scenery are much different from the South Rim, and the accommodations are my favorite.  There’s a comfy, cozy lodge with amazing back patio areas for taking in the Canyon, and everyone stays in little log cabins.  Since it’s a national park, everything is pretty affordable but also usually booked up far in advance.  (If you live close enough, there are usually day-of cancellations, which is how we scored an awesome cabin.)  On Saturday morning we headed south to Sedona, Arizona, another one of our favorite places to visit.  It’s true what they say: there really is something about Sedona.  It’s so peaceful, and the city is really beautiful.  From there, we headed out to Scottsdale for the final night of our trip.  I hadn’t been before, so I was excited to see the city.  We checked into The Saguaro Hotel, which I loved.  Everything was so bright and cheerful, and the pool was pretty hard to beat.  After a delicious lunch at the hotel’s Distrito Restaurant, we started the LONG drive back.  We got home overfed and pretty pooped, but it was SO worth it.  We had an amazing long weekend, and I already can’t wait to plan our next road trip.  (Thanks so much to Cadillac for hooking us up with a ride and inspiring our little get-away!)

New Year’s Eve Glam

Breaking our usual tradition of New Year’s Eve at a cabin in the mountains, this year we plan to spend the evening at home with friends, and I couldn’t be happier.  That said, I’ve decided that a NYE at home shouldn’t put a stop to the all out glam feel of the night, and this dress is simply stunning.  Keep the look classic with a sky-high grey patent heel and a jewel-toned clutch, and add an unexpected finish with delicate gold jewelry.  Let’s face it, I may not get THIS decked out, but at least I can live vicariously through my fabulous readers.  What are your plans for the big night?  And, more importantly, what on earth are you going to wear?
