If you’ve been following along here for a while, you know that I’ve talked about the swimsuit struggle quite a bit over the years.  I’m busty.  And have curves.  And was shocked as hell for years how hard it was to find a swimsuit that actually fit.  The dressing room diary of a girl trying on suit after suit and leaving empty handed is a frustrating book to say the least.  I knew that I wasn’t alone in the struggle, but I just couldn’t understand why companies couldn’t make bikini tops in bigger cuts or one-pieces that were actually supportive.

A couple of years ago I discovered Miracle Brands swimsuits and became a big fan.  The silhouettes are sleek, the fabric sucks you in, and I loved that there was hidden underwire in the suits to help support the girls.  I’ve been wearing them summer after summer, and this year, there’s a whole new line to love.  Miracle Brands has just released their Embrace Your Curves swim line at (my fave place, you guessed it…) Walmart, and it’s so good.  It’s everything I’ve loved from Miracle Brands over the years at a price point that is so affordable.  The fabrics still feel so luxe, the cuts are simple and flattering, and some of the suits have that hidden underwire that makes them so supportive.  (But if you’re not a fan of the underwire, don’t worry, there are suits like the floral one above without it that are still supportive.)

And just like that, the 4th of July is officially one week away.  Crazy, crazy, crazytown.  Now, I’m not complaining.  I love summer just as much as the next bike-riding, beach-going, easy summer dress-wearing gal, but the summer months also bring along the dreaded (for some) swimsuit season.

If you’ve been following along with this blog for a while, then you know I’ve done my fair share of whining about finding swimsuits for busty girls.  Bikini tops were never cut large enough, and one-piece suits for the most part were just no-support, not-happening, jokes in my book.  Well, gals, I’m happy to report that after years and years of trying ALL of the damn swimsuits, I’ve finally found some tried and true brands that won’t let you (or your girls) down.  And Magicsuit is one of those brands.

I first tried out Magicsuit when I brought one of their suits along on this amazing Mexico trip last year.  The swimsuit was super supportive with adjustable straps, had a low back that I loved, and was comfortable enough for all-day wear.  It quickly became a go-to one-piece suit for me, so this year when I saw the updated version, I was immediately sold.  I’m loving the ruching along the front seam, and the palm print is just too cute to pass up.

For me, it’s the perfect kind of suit for a beach day that leads right into lunch, dinner, drinks, or shopping near the beach.  Just throw on denim shorts, an easy kimono, and comfy slides to take your swimsuit right into tank top territory.  Another favorite of mine?  Check out this wide strap tank suit that will never leave those uncomfy red marks on your shoulders (also seen here).  And stay tuned for one more Magicsuit making its way to the blog soon.

We had been planning the week in Palm Springs for months, and I was so looking forward to some pool time and a little tan.  BUUUUT, then the day arrived and things were looking more like sweater-and-shorts weather than anything warm enough for taking a dip.  So we stashed the flamingo pool floats, snapped a couple of swimsuit pics (I mean it is Palm Springs), and then settled in with ALL the snacks and a little wine and made the best of it.

We stayed at our home in Palm Springs and made sure to check out a couple of my favorite restaurants while there.  You just can’t go to Palm Springs without a little food on the agenda.  This time around, these are the spots we picked.

Dinner at Las Casuelas Terraza – Palm Springs has a handful of Mexican restaurants that I really enjoy, but this one is probably my favorite for a skinny spicy margarita and shrimp fajitas.  The place is HUGE, but don’t be fooled –  it can get packed and sometimes has long wait times.  Reservations are usually a good idea – especially if you want to be near the live band.

Lunch at Melvyn’s – It’s a bold statement, but I think I’ll say that currently this is my favorite place in Palm Springs for lunch or dinner.  It’s an old-school restaurant that’s been around since the 70’s, and the food is just plain GOOD.  Lunch is served on the prettiest little patio (the Chinese chicken salad is my favorite), and dinner is in a swanky, dark dining room.  If you’re going for dinner, the lobster pot pie is what dreams are made of.

Dinner at Tropicale – So this one isn’t exactly a rave review, but I have friends who have eaten at Tropicale and loved it.  So maybe I need to give it another shot?  We ordered Vietnamese Spring Rolls and the Firecracker Shrimp as appetizers, and those were great.  My entree though, as well as everyone else’s, was just kind of, meh.  (For reference, I ordered the fried chicken salad which was supposed to be amazing.  I guess I was thinking it would be boneless chicken, which to me makes much more sense in a salad.)

Breakfast at Norma’s (located in the Parker) – On our last day in Palm Springs, we figured we’d leave town on a high note.  A REAL high note.  Breakfast at Norma’s is pricey, but if you haven’t been, it’s definitely worth a try.  We ordered a few things to split and loved every bite.  The “Waz-Za?” and the Huevos Rancheros are seriously where it’s at, and taking in the pretty scenery at the Parker is a nice little bonus.

Overall it was an amazing few days, and I’ve already got the itch to go back.  Eric and I are always looking to try out new restaurants in the area, so I’d love to know – what are some of your favorites?

Clearly taking a SHARP left turn from yesterday’s snowy post, today I’ve got nothing but sunny weather and vacay vibes on the brain.  Blame it on the springy temps we’ve had around here lately or the upcoming trips I have planned to Palm Springs and Cabo on the horizon, but my online shopping cart is currently filled with easy dresses, airy coverups, and the wedge sandals I know I’ll be wearing throughout the summer.

I first started this post thinking I wanted to create a collage of all the things I’m loving for a tropical vacation, but then it turned into four ready-to-go looks (top to bottom columns) will all the packable essentials for a long weekend getaway.  And now I’m convinced that it’s just meant to be for one of my upcoming trips, no?  I know it’s technically still January, but let the resort dreaming begin.

While some parts of the country may be gearing up for fall fashion (my hands-down fave fashion season), we’ve still got a ways to go here in Southern California, and really, the summer weather is just about to kick into full swing.  All fashion aside, it’s kind of my favorite.  The beaches are pretty empty, and the resort pools are just primed for the taking.  (I mean, guess which pale girl finally got a little tan?)  So what’s a girl to do but stock up on a few more swimsuits?

Last week Kathleen and I spent a couple of glorious nights at the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara, and I’ve got a full recap of that coming up here soon.  But for now, I’m sharing a few snaps by the pool because this swimsuit is just so good for those of us looking for a bit more support.  And couldn’t we all use a little support these days?

I held out on the one-piece swimsuit trend for quite a while, but I finally caved earlier this spring in Mexico and haven’t looked back since.  Well, with the right one-piece.  I will say that some one-piece suits aren’t great for those of us that are busty up top, but Amoressa  by Miraclesuit is one of those brands that just gets it.

My favorite part about this one?  Well it’s comfy and easy by the pool, and once you’re done with the sun, throw on some shorts and an easy kimono, and you’re good to go.  I’m loving the lace-up detailing of this suit, and the fabric sucks you in after those necessary pool margaritas and tacos.  Live your best life, girl!

Ohhh, what do we have here?  Another Friday?  Well count me in, friends, because there’s just nothing better.  And here we are at the start of summer, so let’s talk swimsuits once again, shall we?  Well I’m here to bring a little blast from my teenage past – tankinis!

They were my first dip into the two-piece swimsuit pool back in the day, and I felt pretty freaking cool about myself.  Fast forward (quite) a few years, and I thought my tankini days were done.  But hey 2017, we’re bringing it back.  And they’re just as great as I remember.

The two in today’s post are so great for a variety of sizes (Hey D-cup girls!), and they’re super comfy for all day wear.  Weather you’re looking to get sporty on the beach or trying to get your sandy nap on, I can’t say enough good things about these suits.  They’re supportive and versatile – wear ’em as-is, tie them in a knot, add a little coverup, whatever you wanna do, girl.  (Also, so great for long torso girls like myself who have troubles with most one-piece suits – hashtag, thumbs up.)  I’m here to tell you, the tank suit is back in our 30’s, friends, and I’m not mad about it.

I’ve mentioned it a couple of times this season, but I swear swimsuit brands have really started to up their game when it comes to bikini tops for the busty gals out there.  I’ve gotten several requests from you guys to share a full roundup of my favorite tried and true tops, and I swear, I will get that post up soon.  But for today, I’ve got a recent FAVORITE this season from La Blanca.

My favorite kind of bikini tops are the kind that don’t tie behind my neck because I just think they’re so much more comfortable.  This one has adjustable straps and the cutest little keyhole detail in front.  I’m linking a few colors of the top below, and you can get it in standard sizes here and D+ cup sizes here and here.  (And a super similar version in cup sizes here.)  Y’all, if you have trouble finding comfortable, supportive tops that are big enough, I can’t recommend this one more.  Also, I usually have to size up in swim, but not with this top.  If anything, it actually runs a smidge big, so you may want to size down.

And then there is the tasseled kimono and shorts duo.  I mean, how cute?  I’m pretty obsessed – so much so that I got the set in two colors.  Trina Turk prints just scream Palm Springs, so what better set for our recent weekend at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Palm Springs?   Stay tuned for the second color in this set or get a head start by shopping it below.  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you may have noticed a post or two from The Residences at Playa de La Paz.  OK, maybe there are more than a couple of posts, and full apologies, they’re not about to stop any time soon.  Y’all, it was seriously a dream vacay, and while the full recap is still coming up this week, today I’m sharing a couple of favorite swimsuits from the trip.

Maybe I’ll back things up a bit here.  When I first started planning for the trip, it dawned on me that all of my swimsuits (and pretty much anything summery) from previous years were trapped inside a dresser, wrapped up in plastic, and barricaded behind a ton of other furniture in our current home remodel situation.  (When we moved into the rental, it was supposed to be for one month, remember?  Quietly walking into month four over here…)  SOOO, that was a challenge.

I’ve had my eye on Miraclesuit swimsuits for a while now (remember this post from almost a year ago?  Peep that number 12.), and for this trip, I finally decided to put them to the test.  Well, friends, disappointed I was not.  I mean, these suits suck you in, slap you on the behind, and send you off for the day.  Maybe not that intense, but it’s the kind of suit that you can easily feel comfortable in all day long, whether you’re a busty gal or not.  (I think we all know my busty gal swimsuit struggle around here by now…)

Anywho, I found myself grabbing for these more than once, and if you’re fed up with the swimsuit shopping struggle, I can’t recommend these Miraclesuit swimsuits more.  Slip one on and go live your best vacay life, y’all.  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

The seasons, they are a-changing around here, and for me, that means the end of our wedding season.  Phew!  I’m not gonna lie, I spent the first solid week after our wedding eating, like, whatever I wanted.  I mean, Eric and I got late-night burgers (and chili cheese fries) on the actual night of our wedding.  (No regrets, that fourth meal was so worth the calories.)  But now it’s a couple of weeks later, and it’s time to embrace the next season: beach season.  It may seem a little early to the rest of the country, but in Southern California, it’s here, y’all.  My best beach advice around here? Bring a snack. Nobody likes a crabby, hungry beach-goer, and that burger place can be so tempting.
