Remember this little metallic skirt from this post?  Well I promised myself I wouldn’t let it sit unworn in my closet forever, so today I’m taking her for a spin with a slouchy little sweater and those favorite sneakers again.  And will probably be re-wearing it for dinner tonight at the Red O.  Yep, dinner, because this year we are skipping Halloween.

You can call me a Halloween scrooge, but trick-or-treating in our neighborhood is seriously aggressive.  There is a house that was built to look like a castle that throws the biggest haunted house in the city and invites everyone in, so we get tons and tons of families passing through.  Last year we went through 750 candy bars by 7:30 and got yelled at by two disgruntled mothers for running out.  I’m not even kidding.

So this year I bought the usual giant mound of expensive candy, thought about Weeze losing her mind with every single “trick-or-treat”, and figured this year we could use a break.  Candy was returned, dinner reservations were made, and we’re taking our little hot dog to hang with her best doggo pal.  I know, I know – are we totally lame?  I don’t care, and I’m sure we’ll be back in the treat-giving action next year.  But maybe if you’re hitting the streets with your kids tonight, try not to yell at people for running out of candy.  I don’t know, just a thought.

Well sure, a tunic-y sweater like this one was probably meant to be worn with skinny jeans or leggings or as a dress by a seriously petite gal, but it’s 2017 dammit, and there’s just no rule against wearing it over your favorite little body-con dress.  (Same dress from this post, BTW.)  How else are you supposed to wear said body-con dress post-holidays and pre-cleanse?  (More about the cleanse coming later, and if you saw my Instagram story last night, don’t judge.  I totally cheated for my last dinner of the cleanse because I committed to going to the opening of Bonchon OC last night with the husband, and who am I to cancel date night?  It’s bad form.  That last Juice Served Here bowl shall make the best lunch tomorrow.  Anywho…)

If your weather happens to be tightrope-walking winter and spring like ours is currently with chilly mornings and nights and pretty hot afternoons, then you just toss that favorite chunky knit over a dress, add your favorite ankle booties, and get on with your day.  Grab a green juice and some fried chicken while you’re at it because life’s about balance, y’all.  That’s what I’m telling myself, anyways.  Hope everyone is having a great week and hope you guys are following along on Instagram as I’m heading to San Diego for #cabiScoop today.  Head over to my Instagram and Instagram story for sneak peeks!

This year’s winter so far hasn’t allowed me much sweater time (sorry, East Coasters), but this little guy was an excellent last-minute addition to the closet sweater stock.  It’s sort of a half turtleneck, which I for some reason love, and I can always get behind a good set of dolman sleeves.  Paired with dressed-up track pants and a metallic pump, it’s an outfit maker that’s easy peasy and coincidentally on sale.

Well the post-holiday, most epic Monday of ’em all blues are in full effect here, people, and it’s not pretty.  But hey, it’s a new year and a fresh start, and I suppose that’s something worth celebrating, right?  Also the discovery that a favorite fur vest can double as the perfectly oversized infinity scarf by sticking your head through both arm holes.  Small victories.  So I guess it’s time to cheer up and dive into 2015.  Here’s to a spankin’ new year and many small victories ahead.

I can’t believe the Christmas season is officially over.  Eric and I spent a few days in Louisiana with my family before heading back to California for Christmas with his family, and although it flew by, our time in Louisiana was perfect.  I got to see most of my friends and family, eat some of my favorite foods, take in a few sights and lights, and, oh yeah, we got engaged!  Today I’m sharing a few photos from our morning at Oak Alley Plantation, a favorite local stop, pre-engagement and before a couple of glorious thunderstorms chased away the sweater weather.  Hope everyone had an amazing holiday season – I know I did!
