Blame it on my recent trip to Mexico or an upcoming trip to Palm Springs (or blame it on the fact that my name is Nikki and I have a handbag problem), but I’ve got a serious itch for fun, summer bags this year.  (And every year?)  Yesterday after uploading this photo to Instagram it seems that some of you gals have a little thing for summer bags too, so I figured I’d share a few favorites here.

Y’all, how cute are these?  I snagged number 4 in yellow before Mexico and love how it easily transitions from the beach to dinner or whatever the day brings.  The same can be said for most of the bags here – day to night for an easy vacation vibe.  Number 7 is seriously cute with pretty much any outfit (check it out here), and I just discovered that it comes in so many more colors than I thought.  The decisions, y’all.  But whether small bags are your thing (hello, number 10) or you need a little more space (numbers 6 and 13), you can’t go wrong with one (or all) of the bags here.  So which would you take along with you on your next vacay?

A couple of weeks ago when discovering the local goodness that is Sadie Slick, I found a few great pieces and then I came across this dress.  On the hanger, it didn’t look like much, but once I put it on, I knew I’d be wearing the crap out of it this summer.  It’s super soft and comfy and just lightweight enough for hot summer days.  The midi length is on point this season, and whether you cinch the waist or not, it’s just an easy silhouette to pull off.  If you buy one dress this summer, this one would be my pick.

Tommy Bahama swim top, bottom, coverup, towel

Happy almost Friday, summer lovers!  Whether you like it or not, summer weather and swimsuit season are fully upon us – have you found your perfect swimsuit yet?  Living at the beach, it’s always great to have a few options, so this week I stopped by the Tommy Bahama store in Corona Del Mar to meet with their swim fit specialist Jill.  Within minutes she knew my swim style, my likes and dislikes, and my main challenge of finding a top with enough coverage, and she had suggested and pulled a ton of styles for me to try.  I tried on a few, liked a few, loved a couple, and eventually decided on the two-tone pieces above.  And then my new BFF Jill was all, “Hey, let me change your life.  Try tying it like this so that it doesn’t have to be tied behind your neck…”  (So she didn’t actually say it like that, but let me tell you, it was life-changing.)  I’m beyond stoked on this new suit and have big plans for it (with the straps tied criss-cross of course) at the beach ASAP.  And because I tend to live in swimsuits and coverups in the summers here, I couldn’t leave without this tasseled little kaftan number.

It may not feel like it everywhere, but Spring really is just around the corner.  This coming weekend we’re setting the clocks forward, and this girl is excited.  Though we’ve got a bit to wait before it’s really warm out, this little Tolani dress is perfect for those summer days ahead.  It’s super lightweight, but the colors make a big impact.  Add booties or a pair of gladiator sandals (my continued obsession), and you’re set.  Little to no accessories required, but a killer fringe bag never hurt anyone.

The “dog days of summer” may be technically over, but it’s still pretty scorching most days around here.  On those days the only thing that matters when getting dressed is beating the heat, and this look does it pretty well.  The oversized tunic from Riller & Fount is so lightweight and airy, and paired with these easy embroidered shorts, it’s a heat wave no-brainer.  Flat sandals and layered jewelry tie it all together.  Hope everyone has an amazing Labor Day weekend!

There’s probably nothing more excessive in my wardrobe (besides fun costume jewelry I suppose) than scarves, and for good reason.  Even in the dead of summer here, it can get pretty chilly at night, and an oversized scarf is the perfect accessory to help keep warm without looking too wintery.  My motto with scarves is “the bigger the better”, and this one from Theodora & Callum is huge.  It easily doubles as a swimsuit coverup, and in fact, on their website, you can find dozens of seriously cute #waystowear these.  It’s the perfect summer accessory to throw in your suitcase or beach bag for any upcoming summer travel.  Today I’m pairing the neutral accessory with muted skinnies and an easy white tank for a low-key and comfortable look.  What are some of your go-to summer accessories?
