A season or two ago, I was roaming around some store shopping for God knows what when I came across a pair of culottes.  Admittedly I did a double take, picked them up, and thought, what year is it right now?  Where am I?  I actually felt similarly last week when I noticed a new Aaron Carter song on the radio.  What theeee?  But back to the pants.  I shrugged off the culotte thing and chalked it up to some buyer gone rogue.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I spotted this pair in Amour Vert.  I wanted to look away, but damnit, I couldn’t resist.  I mean, chambray culottes?  They’re pretty darn cute in my opinion.  They’re also pretty much the softest pants ever, and with a comfy striped tee tucked (or half-tucked), it’s such an easy, standout look.  (Also, head right over here to see why I think you need ALL of the Amour Vert tees.)  I added a favorite heeled mule, but these will be just as cute this summer with a flat sandal.  And like, a pretty pastel bike with a basket full of flowers.  Are they growing on you yet?

While taking a stroll over the old Instagram this morning, I noticed that lately I’ve got quite a thing for stripes.  And truth be told, it’s not just a recent obsession.  I feel like of all the prints and patterns that I dig – florals, plaid, gingham, and even palm prints – stripes are definitely my main squeeze.  They’re so classic and easy to mix, match and mingle, and this season, they’re once again everywhere.

So whether you go for a swimsuit (the tankini at number one is so good for busty gals), a fun bag, or a little something for your feet, you really can’t go wrong with adding a little stripe to any look.  My personal faves?  Well, I did pick all of the above, but I really want to get my hands on numbers five and fourteen – nothing better than a pool sarong that doubles as a scarf later.  And the slides at number nine are pretty dang cute for under $25.  Also, if you’re looking for the absolute softest tees around, the brand at number three has that ALL figured out.  Hope everyone is having a great week, and happy summer shopping!

Happy Monday, guys!  (Does that even exist?  Not sure.)  Hope everyone had an amazing Father’s Day weekend.  Unfortunately I didn’t get to spend the day with my own dad, pretty much the raddest dad around, and thinking I need to make a little Louisiana trip home soon.  We did spend the day with Eric’s family celebrating his dad and eating way too much guacamole.  I’m a sucker for guacamole.  Today I’m recovering from my Mexican food coma and sharing a bit more print mixing.  This striped midi skirt is super versatile for summer, can be dressed up or down, and the best part?  Pockets, people.  I’m also a sucker for pockets.  I kept it simple with a knotted chambray button-down and leopard heels, and while putting this post together and simultaneously browsing Instagram (the norm), I realized that Kathleen and I pretty much had the same idea.  Great minds…  Hope everyone has an amazing start to the week!

Happy Friday, loves!  Today’s post is a little tardy, but after a crazy week in New York, it’s so great to be back in California.  First, I have to get a little sappy here and say how AMAZING all of the support for this week’s Target swim campaign has been.  You guys!  Putting myself out there (In a swimsuit!  In a video!  Yikes!)  was such a scary decision, but I was so excited to be a part of a campaign that celebrates women of all different shapes and sizes.  The most incredible opportunity came my way, and there was no way to pass it up.  As the video launched though, I braced myself for a little bit of “hate mail.”  But I was SO wrong.  The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of it.  I’m one lucky gal and just had to take a minute to say THANK YOU!

Y’all, this weekend was amazing.  Eric and I spent a few days in Louisiana last week for my cousin’s wedding.  We got to hang out, drink (too much) wine, and eat everything (cajun) in sight with a few of my favorite family members, and somewhere in between we managed to book our wedding venue (more on that later in the week).  We headed back to California on Saturday and got home in time for a little Valentine’s Day sushi.  It was low-key and perfect and followed by a Sunday lunch with friends.  I’m constantly reminded how lucky I am to share this crazy life with the one I love and hope that you guys had a love-filled weekend as well.  And hopefully, you’re starting off the week with a vacation Monday.  Hands up if you plan on being in your pajamas at noon!  (Slowly raises hand…)  Here’s lookin’ at you, Presidents’ Day.

Recently while rearranging my clothing rack, this shirt (last seen here) and these shorts (see them here) ended up side by side.  Right now I’m all about matching separates, and although these stripes weren’t technically meant for each other, I love how they came together.  Tucked in and accented with a belt, the two look like an easy romper.  A favorite handbag and bold necklace add a couple pops of color.  Hope everyone is having a great week!
