Sometime around last summer, I decided I was done.  No more rompers for me.  I have a long torso, and it was pretty rare for me to find a romper that fit well.  Even then, I felt like I was spending all my time tugging and adjusting, and don’t even get me started on finding myself in a public restroom reaching for some back zipper.

Recently I came across this little leopard romper though and made an exception to my rule.  It’s super lightweight, loose and flowy, and fits more like a little shift dress than your average romper.  It’s got pockets and easy front buttons, and I couldn’t love the leopard print more.  And right now, you can snag it on sale at Nordstrom along with these super comfy rubber slides.

In fact, Nordstrom is currently offering 25% off sitewide (with a few brand exceptions).  I’m pretty sure I’ve never even seen a sitewide sale like this from Nordstrom, so I’ll definitely be taking advantage and spending a couple of gift cards from Christmas.  (Sometimes saving them pays off.)  If you’re looking to shop the sale too, I’m rounding up some of my favorite comfy, cozy, or just plain classic finds below.

You guys know I’m a sucker for a good sale, and today, one of my favorite sales of the season kicks off.  It only happens twice a year, but the Lilly Pulitzer Afterparty sale is happening today, friends.  I’ve worn a ton of Lilly over the years, and the pieces I have are serious closet favorites.  In general, I keep things pretty neutral, but when I want to add a little color, Lilly Pulitzer is the go-to.

It may not feel like it here today, but summertime is officially upon us, and that means it’s officially romper season.  I’ve been a romper fan for years – I mean, what’s not to love?  A one-and-done outfit that consists of shorts instead of a skirt?  Sold.  Add shoes and a bag and you’re done.

Unfortunately for me though, finding a romper that actually fits can be a bit of a challenge.  I’m 5’8″ (or something close to that) with a really long torso, so getting into a romper sometimes requires a little maneuvering.  Not today though!

I recently picked up this easy navy romper from Banana Republic, and guess what – she fits like a dream.  I’m wearing the regular sizing (in a medium for reference), but this utility romper is also available in tall sizes if you need even more room.  The design is so versatile, can be dressed up or down, and I love that it has pockets.  (Duh, always.)

A few years ago the romper stormed onto the fashion scene as something actually acceptable to wear out in public past the age of five and it grew really popular, really quickly because, other than that whole unzipping your entire outfit in public restrooms thing, what’s not to love?  I mean, a girl’s gotta have options besides your standard dress.  Similarly, the maxi dress was accepted with super enthusiastic open arms because it’s basically a smiled-upon muumuu, no?  So it was only a matter of time before these two trendy-trends joined forces and birthed, for lack of a better name, the romper dress.  The maxi romper?  The dromper?  Too far, Nikki.

Well who am I to pass up a good fashion fusion, so here I am, giving it a (literal) whirl.  And y’all, it’s not so bad.  I’ve got a long torso so I sized about as far up as you can go and paired her with the first ever bralette that I’ve found for busty gals.  (Seriously, it’s a game-changer.)  The romper dress has long sleeves, but it’s the perfect weight to make it A-OK for right this second.  Fall fashion or no fall fashion, I’m not trying to sweat it out for no apparent reason, feel me?

Happy Monday, people.  How was everyone’s weekend?  Mine was pretty stellar because in Southern California we got…wait for it…rain.  Whaaat?!  And not just a little.  It rained for a few hours on both Saturday and Sunday, and we even got a little thunder and lightening.  It’s such a rare occurrence here that when we do get a rainy day, all I want to do is curl up on the couch and listen to it.  And although the rain was supposed to last through today, I woke up to a beautiful sunny SoCal morning here.  I guess it’s kind of hard to complain about that.  So today I’m sharing this sunny look from Liz & Honey boutique, and I’m pretty much in love with this romper.  From the color to the billowy shape to the lightweight fabric, it’s so perfect for the hot summer days ahead.  Worn with tall gladiator sandals, a fringe bag and a hat, it’s a little touch of boho glam at the beach.  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

There’s probably only one spring staple that I love more than rompers and matching sets, and that, my friends, is the kimono.  It’s the perfect addition to almost anything, from jeans to jumpsuits and swimsuits, and in the world of kimonos, Flynn Skye is pretty tops.  (What can I say?  I’m playing favorites.)  I first came across the brand when working with the fabulous ladies of OC Style Report, and I was immediately obsessed.  The blue and white print is the perfect complement to the denim romper above and was quite the statement in the windstorm-like conditions this day.  And perhaps it helps distract from that supermodel (and blogger friend Jen) that I’m with?  Probably not though

This week I’ve got fall fashion on the brain as I prepare to head to New York for Fashion Week, but at home in Newport Beach, things are still very summery.  This romper arrived in the middle of a heatwave, and I couldn’t have been more excited.  It’s the perfect little lightweight, throw-on-and-go piece that will get you through the hottest days, and paired with a cardigan, it’s ideal for cool nights.  Bohemian accessories finished the look.  Hope everyone’s short week is off to a great start!
