In the daily routine during summers past, you could usually find me in some sort of jersey t-shirt dress or flowy floral number.  I was never really a “jorts” girl until a couple of summers ago and certainly didn’t own much summer denim.  And now I’m wondering, what in the world was I thinking?  Jean shorts are pretty much my main jam these days (these are my current faves, I sized up for reference), and I live for a good summer denim piece.

And I’m pretty sure it all started with this dress.  Pretty much the same dress as above but in a different denim.  Remember this one from last year?  GoodNESS, I wore that poor dress to death, and to be honest, I still do.  It’s just seriously comfortable, looks a bit more pulled together than that old t-shirt dress, and goes with just about every sneaker, slide, and sandal I own.  Plus, the fit and lightweight fabric are airy enough for even the hottest days.  So when I saw the same dress in a new chambray style this season, I obviously had to snag it.

Other denim favorites?  Still obsessed with this jumpsuit (that’s sadly sold out) and this figure-flattering romper that’s just been restocked in all sizes.  It’s under $100, super easy to pull off with wedges, slides, or sandals, and seriously slimming.  (Hashtag, yassss.)  I really can’t recommend it more, but if you’re looking for a little something else, check out a few more of my favorite summer denim finds below.  What are some of the unexpected pieces you guys are most excited about for summer?

Good morning, friends!  How was everyone’s weekend?  Mine was a total whirlwind in Mexico checking out the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica resort and celebrating our little Jenn getting married.  (Check out a little bachelorette party for Jenn here.)  It’s a Monday morning catch-up session around here, but I just had to share this denim romper look from Mexico before it’s completely sold out.  It was just fully in stock a couple of days ago, but unfortunately, it’s going FAST.  (It fits true to size and is so, so comfortable, by the way.)

I scooped it up along with these wedges before Cabo, and on both accounts, I’m so glad that I did.  Y’all, these wedges might just be the most comfy wedges that I own.  They’re super easy to walk in, and I even managed to wear them for two hours on a rocking sailboat for Jenn’s rehearsal dinner without any problems.  Not bad, right?

We had such an amazing time at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica, and I can’t wait to share more with you guys this week.

With more than a couple new pairs of jeans already in my arsenal for spring (see here and here), I’m turning my attention to all of the other denim things out there that I’m pretty sure my wardrobe, well, needs.  During the spring (and not quite spring) months when I admittedly jump the gun on the warm weather wear, I live in my denim jacket.  (I currently have the version at number five, and it’s a keeper.)  It’s the perfect piece to throw on over a little dress, with white denim, or with a fun pair of shorts, and this year, I’m loving the oversized “trucker” versions that are popping up everywhere.  I’ve shared number six above before (here and here) because I’m pretty obsessed and had just about decided to pull the trigger, but now I’m thinking, how’s a girl to choose?  Similarly, a denim dress is something that I think every closet needs, and the easy version at number nine above is under $50.  This year in lieu of sandals and wedges, I’ll be pairing mine with another new obsession – sneakers.  Anyone else caught the denim shopping bug hard this season?

A few years ago I probably couldn’t have told you that denim on denim would be a favorite combo of mine, but somehow here I am in double denim once again on my own free will.  This shirtdress is one of my favorites that I’ve tried.  It’s so soft and comfortable, and the best part, pockets.  (Because why doesn’t every dress come with pockets these days?  I don’t know why I like them so much, I just do.)  And you can’t go wrong with a little bit of leopard.  These leopard booties are from years and years ago, but I’ll never get rid of them because they’re just my favorites.  They’ve got the perfect heel height and a little platform so they’re really comfortable.  Sadly they’re sold out, but I’ve linked a couple of similar styles because everyone needs a good pair of leopard booties, right?  Hope everyone has a fab “almost Friday.”

If there’s one thing in every girl’s closet, I’ll betcha it’s denim.  But these days, denim is EVERYWHERE and popping up in way more ways than just your basic jeans.  From jackets to jumpsuits, dresses and even accessories, there’s something for every blue-jean baby out there.  Wear them solo or wear a couple pieces together (like here and here).  Just don’t wear them all together, okay?  Wondering how you’d wear the denim kicks?  Pair them with a little black dress, with an all-white look, or go edgy by pairing them with leather.  My top picks?  Well the little dress at number 6 is currently on its way to me, and I just NEED that little spring jacket at number 10.  What are some of your faves?

Happy New Year, y’all!  How’s everyone feeling?  Nothing that a little Bloody Mary can’t fix, I’m sure.  We spent our New Year’s Eve in a cabin in the mountains where we’ve spent several before, and it’s pretty much the best.  No dressing up and no making plans.  Don’t we do that enough during the year?  No crowded bars and no expensive event tickets to buy.  You just bundle up in every Southern California layer that you own, grab takeout Chinese food, and hang out by a fire with friends.  It’s cozy, and I dig it.  So here we are, in 2016.  And it seems that my love of flares didn’t get left behind in 2015.  And neither did my denim on denim habit.  So I’m going with it.  I think that’s what you’re supposed to do in 2016, right?  Hope everyone’s January is off to a great start!

If you follow this blog or perhaps my Instagram, you may notice I’ve got a little thing for plaid.  If you see me on the weekends, you’ll know that it’s more of a BIG thing for plaid.  Huge, really.  I live for a comfy, cozy plaid button-down paired with denim, and to me, it’s the ultimate down-time uniform.  After a couple of days of playing tourist around New Orleans with Jenn (that recap, still to come), I couldn’t wait to slip into this soft-as-hell Wayf plaid complete with the coziest booties.  Because “slipping into something more comfortable” doesn’t have to be sweats.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

As they say, all good things must come to an end, and today marks my very last post from last month’s trip to Cabo and also a kind of farewell to summer style.  Seems like forever ago, right?  Well with the whole computer crash thing and then New York Fashion Week, I’ve had a few delays in getting these last looks up.  This one is definitely one of my favorites from the trip, and while I may be saying goodbye to summer style, I’m holding onto these suede lace-up heels and denim cutoffs for a couple months longer.  Unfortunately it’ll be warm in Southern California for at least a few more weeks, and I love using denim cutoffs as a fall transition piece with loose sweaters, plaid button-downs, or lightweight jackets.  This staple pair is definitely my favorite from a couple seasons back, and they’re currently 30% off and available in most sizes.  So don’t miss out!  Because there’s nothing I love more in my closet than my worn-in, stretched out, ripped and destroyed denim cutoffs.  Anyone else?

Today I’m fall daydreamin’ y’all, and my cart runneth over.  There are so many killer trends this year (helloooo, 70’s revival…yet again), but right now my mind is on all things basic.  This season, I’ve got my eye on three types of denim: destroyed black skinnies, clean dark flares, or button-front skirts.  And I need them all.  Since we’ve got a little more hot weather than I’d like left, I’m loving this racerback dress that can be worn alone with booties now or layered up later.  And the thing I need the most from this little list?  (And yes, I realize the word need is ridiculous in this case.)  I’m dying over the jumbo version of my beloved Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody.  I mean, isn’t there a saying about this?  If you love something, let it go buy it in jumbo?  My shaky trigger finger is just hovering over that “Place Order” button.  I’m weak, people!  What do you guys have your little fall hearts set on?
