Oh hi, friends! Guess who finally recovered from the 4th of July? This girl right here. Whoo, America’s birthday really wore me out. But I’m back in action and headed down South for a high school girlfriend’s wedding, and I’m pretty excited. Bring me all the Southern food! Hopefully it isn’t a thousand degrees in Louisiana, but I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m planning for the heat stroke ahead with light-as-a-feather dresses like this one. It’s seriously breezy and dreamy and under $20 – in the suitcase it goes. Is there anything better than an affordable summer dress that you love to wear? Nope. See you in the South, guys!
How was everyone’s July 4th weekend? After a fun-filled Saturday and Sunday here, this girl is pooped. Yesterday’s plan was to hang out and take it easy on the couch all day, but when we heard that a theater down the street was live broadcasting the very last Grateful Dead concert, we had a change of plans. Super random, but we had to check it out and it didn’t disappoint. On slow-moving days like today, there’s just nothing better than a comfy jersey maxi dress, and this one from Oasis is currently at the top of my favorites list. It feels like pajamas but somehow is a little more pulled-together for running errands. Just a little. Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!
A lightweight jersey maxi dress is the perfect way to save my hot and bothered arse in un-air-conditioned Orange County this summer (hence, an extensive collection in my closet), and an oversized bow adds a fun little punch to the back of this one. From the front, this basic black maxi is the perfect canvas for layered statement jewelry, and easy sandals and a go-to favorite clutch finish the look. Hope everyone has an amazing weekend! xoxo
Dress: Topshop; Belt and Sunglasses: Forever 21; Wedges: Urban Outfitters; Bag: (c/o) T.J. Maxx; Watch: (c/o) Caravelle by Bulova; Bracelet: (c/o) Peppermint Chic
A great black maxi dress is definitely one of the closet staples I couldn’t do without, and this racerback tank version from Topshop is probably one of my favorites. It’s the easiest bet for a casual wedding, cocktail party, or, in the case of this weekend, my very first quinceanera. A studded belt and bold crossbody bag added the final touches. Hope everyone had a great weekend! xoxo
I’m a sucker for a good spring maxi. I first pulled this dress out a few weeks ago (when it was probably a little too cold to wear it), but this past weekend the weather was perfect for a comfy cotton maxi dress. I love the soft fabric, exaggerated side slits and neck detailing of this one from LA Made, and these sparkly sandals from Fibi & Clo (last seen here) will definitely be in high rotation this summer. What spring pieces in your closet are you getting excited about? Hope everyone had an amazing weekend! xoxo
It’s a wild and crazy world out there, but today on the blog I’m keeping things nice and light with the prettiest maxi dress that I was so excited to find for spring. While I originally bought it for a quarantine-cancelled wine tasting weekend, I have no problem wearing it around the house when the weather warms up a little next week. (Quarantine, Southern Charm Patricia style.) It is super comfy and lightweight, comes in a few colors, and is under $30. (It’s the same brand as these two dresses from last year, so I figured it was a safe bet for me.)
Working on a big roundup post for tomorrow with all the sites and companies that are helping me avoid the grocery store right now, so stay tuned. Hope everyone has a great rest of their week!
Ever met a maxi dress that just made you wanna twirl? Well maybe now perhaps you have. I can’t even tell you how much I love this lightweight caftan for the summer months ahead, and I may just have to order this palm print version too. It’s perfect for throwing on over a swimsuit or layered over a slip for any day that the weather has you hot and bothered. (Also heads up, it runs pretty big, so I’d definitely recommend sizing down. I’m wearing a medium for reference.)
I scooped this little tasseled maxi up before Eric and I headed to Palm Springs last weekend, but I had to test it out before the weekend when I met up with the most lovely couple behind Pura Soul Photo. A mutual friend of ours made the introduction, and I’m SO glad that she did. They’re a couple of Southern transplants now living in San Diego, and hanging out with them was like getting together with a couple of old friends. Plus, I’m pretty obsessed with the photos that they share. (Also any shoot that starts off with a glass of wine is A-OK in my book, y’all.)
So here’s to new friends, dresses that make you twirl, a little rosé on a gloomy day, and a great rest of the week ahead!
It’s been a minute, friends, but today I’m back with one of my favorite kinds of posts – some tried and true fave Amazon finds. From an easy maxi dress to a chic fruit bowl, a supportive swim top to the best face sunscreen, and everything in between, here are some of my current fave finds that you can snag on Amazon.
Floral Maxi Dress – This is my third color in this easy maxi dress, so I’d say it’s a good one. (You can see it in another color on the blog here.) The cinched waist is pretty flattering, and the turquoise print is so pretty in person. I love how lightweight and cool these are for the summer months, and they’re also super low maintenance – I toss them in the washer and then hang to dry usually.
Lululemon Dupe Leggings – I’ve tried my fair share of Amazon workout leggings, and these are by far my favorite. They’re super soft and buttery, stay put really well, and have the pockets. With as much as I wash and dry my workout gear, I’d much rather a couple pairs of these over the higher priced Lululemon leggings, and to me, they feel exactly the same.
Airy Romper – This romper and oversized and roomy, in no way figure-flattering, and seriously perfect for the sweaty months ahead. It’s made of super lightweight fabric and is so cute styled with sneakers or sandals all summer long.
Lumify Eye Drops – I’m a complete sucker and ordered these after hearing they’re what Jennifer Aniston uses in all those close-up television shots where her eyes are just gleaming white. I have no idea if she actually uses these, but they seriously work SO well. The difference is noticeable, and I’ve successfully converted any of my friends who have tried them.
Wide Brim Hat – This is the first good wide brim wool hat that I’ve found on Amazon, and it’s a really good one. (It seriously looks JUST like this Lack of Color hat, for about a quarter of the price.) When it first came in, it was a little too snug on my big head, but I discovered that the ribbon band was making it tighter – so I slipped the ribbon off and replaced with this Gigi Pip hat band. (If you buy the Amazon hat and the hat band, it’s still less than half the price of the LOC hat.) It comes in a ton of color options and has an adjustable sizer inside if your head is on the smaller size.
Underwire Swim Top – I’ve been raving about these swim tops since our recent trip to Tulum, but they really are so great. If you’re like me and have a hard time finding cute, supportive bikini tops that are actually comfortable, this one is for you. They come in cup sizes from D through F and tie in the back but not behind the neck so they’re actually comfortable enough to wear all day. There are also a bunch of color options.
Bliss Block Star Sunscreen – A great sunscreen doesn’t have to be super expensive, and this $20 tube lasts me for an entire summer (at least). It’s slightly tinted, slightly mattifying, and feels so nice on. During weekends in the summertime, I usually wear this one with nothing on top – it’s your skin but better.
Wooden Fruit Bowl – I had my eye on a similar fruit bowl for our countertop recently that luckily sold out because this one is right around $35, and the quality is great. Looks so good on our marble countertops.
Stuart Weitzman Studded Jelly Sandals – Jelly sandals are everywhere this season, and I LOVE this gold pair with jeans, dresses, shorts, you name it. They’re my “dressed up” summer shoe because where I live, there’s just no need for a heel basically ever. These are still full price most places (like here) but are currently 60% off on Amazon.
I was going to start this off by saying spring is just around the corner, but in Southern California, springtime is almost, pretty much, basically, depending on the day, kinda here. And I am READY for it. Ready for spring and ALL. THE. COLORS. Blame it on the times, but I’ve never been more ready to introduce a little fun into my wardrobe, and right now, the stores and interwebs are bursting with the prettiest, most colorful spring collections.
From soft pastels to bold brights in every color of the rainbow, you really can’t go wrong this season. Go all out head to toe, or just add a splash with a fun handbag, shoes, or out of your comfort zone sunglasses. Personally, I couldn’t pick a favorite, so today I’m rounding up some of my favorite pieces in a slew of spring colors. Which ones are you eyeing?
Ahh, the summer trends, friends. While I normally try to spend sparingly on trends, this summer I can’t help myself – I want them all. (I blame last summer’s stay-at-home lounge style.) This year, I’m craving ALL the accessories – athletic sandals, puffy slides, woven handbags, I’ll take them all. So today I’m rounding up some favorite splurge vs. steal finds so that we can shop those summer trends for less. Happy shopping, gals.
