It’s been a few days since the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale launched for cardholders, and surprisingly, there are still some great pieces in stock to snag.  Last week I rounded up some of my favorite first picks from the sale, and today I’m sharing some of the pieces I tried, bought, and am currently loving.

In particular, these jeans are so GOOD – the perfect high rise, a fit that hugs curves, an easy everyday wash, and super comfortable denim.  They’re true to size – I snagged a 4 for reference.  I’m also super jazzed about this cozy cardigan and this super soft loungewear set for an upcoming trip that will include chilly evenings.

I’ve also ordered these Tory Burch slides which have since sold out (hopefully those get a restock before the sale is open to everyone) and am constantly checking for my size to be restocked in these Ugg slippers.  (Since a certain rambunctious puppy ate my last pair of slippers…)  Overall I didn’t buy too many things from the sale, but I am pretty pleased with the cozy things I did get.  Have you guys shopped the sale?

Happy Friday, friends!  If you haven’t heard from the 17,486,900 other bloggers out on the interwebs, the Nordstrom Anniversary sale hits this week.  Big card holders have been shopping for a couple of days, but today at 9:30 PST the sale hits for all card holders.  (Including me – and side note, I don’t have a Nordstrom credit card, I have the Nordstrom debit card so it’s the same as shopping with my own debit card.)

Anywho, it’s one of my favorite sales of the year because it’s brand new stuff on sale, things that are just hitting the site.  Full disclosure, I feel like in previous years I’ve overdone this sale big time – BIG TIME.  And this year I promise not to.  But, I’ve combed and combed and found some things that I feel are totally worth shopping.  I wanted to narrow it down to 25, but here we are at 50.

This year, there are a few things I’ll be zeroing in on:

Activewear – Let’s face it, I pretty much live in activewear these days, from the gym to the grocery story to the dog walk, and the Anniversary Sale always has some great finds.

A new bra from Chantelle – If you’re busty, this brand is awesome.  I’ve had their bras for years, and they’re both supportive and pretty.  There are a couple of good ones included in this year’s sale.

Anything Madewell – It’s one of my favorite brands of the moment, and there are some great pieces in the sale.  Last year I found the prettiest Madewell dress in the sale, and I’m OBSESSED with their denim.

Wear right now dresses – In years past, I tried to stock up on fall finds because there are just so many great boots, sweaters, and jackets, but fall in Southern California is still pretty hot.  So this year I’m focusing on things I can wear right now and not have to store away for months.

Something Barefoot Dreams – It’s always one of the most popular brands in the sale, and this year, I’m snagging something in their cozy, delicious fabric.  We have a trip to Idaho coming up in the next couple of weeks, and I’m thinking this cardigan or this wrap would be perfect for the flight and chilly nights there.  (Or perhaps I need both?)

So I’m headed to the store today to see what I can snag, but if online is more your jam, feel free to scroll below for the pieces that I think are totally worth it.  And if you find something I’ve missed, let me know, girl!  It’s like Black Friday shopping without the turkey hangover, so let’s do this, shall we?

The Perfect Long Length Sweater: Found

Hey guys, it’s me, your long-torsoed, hip-having friend, and today I’ve got a little beef with the fashion industry.  More specifically, the knitwear peeps.  A few weeks ago, I did a rather LARGE closet clean-out and wanted to ditch the pieces I no longer wear in favor of a couple new classics to update my wardrobe.

So I did the clean-out, sold a few things, and hit the mall (#mallrat) thinking I’d like to grab a couple of new sweaters, a pair of jeans, and maybe a new cold-weather scarf or two.  (What can I say, I’m a scarf hoarder.)  The jeans were a no-brainer – hello, Madewell.  (THIS is my current favorite pair, and right now you can score 25% off your entire purchase.)  And the scarves are always screaming my name at Zara.  But the sweaters.  Ohhh, that sweater hunt.

Now I’m not much a complainer usually because life is too good to waste away complaining, but I feel like this sweater season and last and maybe even the one before that it’s been nearly impossible to find sweaters with a longer length.  At around 5’8″, I was walking around wondering if I’m some kind of Amazon woman or something.

Whether I’m wearing the old faithful Spanx leggings or skinny jeans, I just always find that a longer sweater is so much more flattering and lengthening – no cropped knits over here, fool.  (Actually, just one cropped sweater.  I did buy this one because it’s so dang cute and was begging to be worn with these joggers.  It was actually my Thanksgiving look.)

So anywho, I roamed around the mall, tried on all the ill-fitting, too short sweaters and almost called it a day before I found this one.  It’s seriously soft, the perfect length for tall gals with leggings or jeans, and comes in nine colors.  (So I’m thinking, how many of the nine do I need?)  It’s also under $100 and makes for the perfectly cozy holiday gift.  Because I’m not the only one who still has a ton of holiday shopping to do, right?

Wrap Dress and the Leopard Mules You Need for Fall

Wanna smile often this fall?  Get you a pair of leopard mules and get ready to live your best life in serious comfort.  Y’all, I ordered these calfhair mules recently thinking they’d be great with jeans once the temperatures dropped, but now I’ve got plans to pair them with just about every fall (and almost fall) thing I own.  In addition to my favorite boyfriend jeans or skinnies, I’m loving them with a little black dress or a faux leather skirt.

I wasn’t sure how comfortable they’d be with the pointy toe, but I have to say, they definitely exceeded my expectations in the comfort department.  (For reference, I sized up a half size.)  And, if you’re loving the idea of leopard mules but aren’t quite sold on these, scroll below for a few more pairs that I love.

And now you’re probably thinking – is this the same girl who’s always blabbing about heatstroke and never-ending summertime?  Talking about fall fashion already?  Well hot and sweaty or not, at some point I’m ready to leave the denim shorts and summer duds behind and trade them in for something a little more pre-fall friendly.  It actually dawned on my yesterday that it is, in fact, almost September.  WILD.

This faux wrap dress is super soft and lightweight for now but so good with a denim jacket once that actual fall weather hits.  It’s got a flattering (for me anyway) cut, and how cute are the little button details?  I dig it.  Linking this little black dress and a couple of other similar styles I’ve got my eye on below – which is your favorite for transitioning to fall?

If there’s one thing in every girl’s closet, I’ll betcha it’s denim.  But these days, denim is EVERYWHERE and popping up in way more ways than just your basic jeans.  From jackets to jumpsuits, dresses and even accessories, there’s something for every blue-jean baby out there.  Wear them solo or wear a couple pieces together (like here and here).  Just don’t wear them all together, okay?  Wondering how you’d wear the denim kicks?  Pair them with a little black dress, with an all-white look, or go edgy by pairing them with leather.  My top picks?  Well the little dress at number 6 is currently on its way to me, and I just NEED that little spring jacket at number 10.  What are some of your faves?

Fall Wish List: The Basics

Sole Society Huxley Loafer

Today I’m fall daydreamin’ y’all, and my cart runneth over.  There are so many killer trends this year (helloooo, 70’s revival…yet again), but right now my mind is on all things basic.  This season, I’ve got my eye on three types of denim: destroyed black skinnies, clean dark flares, or button-front skirts.  And I need them all.  Since we’ve got a little more hot weather than I’d like left, I’m loving this racerback dress that can be worn alone with booties now or layered up later.  And the thing I need the most from this little list?  (And yes, I realize the word need is ridiculous in this case.)  I’m dying over the jumbo version of my beloved Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody.  I mean, isn’t there a saying about this?  If you love something, let it go buy it in jumbo?  My shaky trigger finger is just hovering over that “Place Order” button.  I’m weak, people!  What do you guys have your little fall hearts set on?

Flannel Love

Blank NYC jeans (similar in black – I have these and love them);  Vermont Flannel Henley (definitely recommend ordering down a size);  Madewell fur scarf (similar);  Steve Madden bootiesJoelle Hawkens bagRay-Ban sunglasses;  Bracelets: Lilli & Tori, C. Wonder, Gorjana

Despite our warmer temperatures lately, I just can’t seem to step away from my plaid and flannel addiction, and this one, in particular, has been in heavy rotation.  It’s oversized and oh-so-cozy, and I just can’t get enough.  We snapped these photos a couple of Saturdays ago when I dragged Eric with me on a Target run, something I usually immediately regret.  And this time was, well, as “delightful” as ever.  I just don’t understand – how could anyone not like playing photographer and going to Target on a Saturday afternoon? 😉

This leather jacket was such a sweet find at T.J.Maxx recently, and I can’t help but throw it on with just about everything.  I love how it adds a little something interesting to easy boyfriend jeans and a laidback plaid.  Finished with a pair of classic leather booties, this outfit is my ideal weekend wear and a comfortable fall uniform.  Which pieces are currently on replay in your wardrobe?  Happy Friday, everyone!

Orange Pop

There’s no better way to break up a neutral color palette than with a bold pop of orange and contrasting blue accents.  A cinched blazer paired with basic grey skinnies creates a flattering silhouette, while gold accessories are the perfect final touch.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!
