Last week I declared my love for sneakers this time of year, and today, well, I guess I’m further proving it. I picked up these sneakers on major sale before a recent wine-tasting trip and have been wearing the heck out of them since. They are so lightweight and breathable, super comfy, and the perfect match for my recent jeans and tee uniform. (I know, I know – I said I would never be down the the camo trend, but I think after all these years, I’ve finally changed my mind. And these, I couldn’t resist.)
I’m a sucker for a good graphic tee, but I’m especially loving the oversized, slightly longer fit of this Bowie one. (It also comes in two other prints and colors.) It’s perfect for a front-tuck with jeans and is also long enough for me to wear over my favorite faux leather leggings. I’d say that’s a serious win for this creature of comfort. Just add distressed denim and a teddy jacket – you can find some of my favorites here.
And now to tackle this extra Monday-ish Monday. Eric and I got home last last night from a dreamy weekend trip to Tennessee, and I’m guessing it’s time to rejoin the real world. Today will be a day of unpacking, laundry, and so many errands, but stay tuned for lots more Tennessee snaps and the reason we headed out to Knoxville in the first place. Hope everyone has a great week ahead!
Let’s be real: who doesn’t love to bypass their closet’s stacks of tight-ass skinny jeans in favor of perfectly worn-in boyfriend jeans from time to time? Sometimes, this girl just can’t resist. For a relaxed (not sloppy) weekend look, pair the comfortable denim with a colorblocked silk tee, bright flats and an oversized suede handbag. Or, for a more dressed up feel, a fitted peplum jacket and leopard heels add polish and create an unexpected silhouette. For both looks, aviators and sleek gold jewelry are the perfect finishing touches. So, which would you prefer: relaxed or polished? Hope everyone has a great weekend!

This might sound crazy, but happy October, friends! I really can’t even believe it’s October already, but I am THRILLED. I mean, summer is fine, but October, November, December – it’s the best quarter of the whole year, I don’t care what anyone says. Southern California even welcomed the month with a couple of random, out-of-the-blue thunder storms so far, and I took the opportunity to bust out some favorite cozy neutrals that I’m loving right now. (I ordered this sweater back when it was like 90 degrees and have been impatiently waiting to wear it. Sadly this color is currently sold out, but it’s fully stocked in black.)
And as for the shoes, they were such a happy discovery. Anyone with wide feet like mine can probably agree that fall boots, booties, mules, loafers, etc. can be actual torture devices on the foot, and if you find something that comes in a wide width, it’s normally NOT very cute. I saw these little suede mules during the Evereve store opening at Fashion Island and loved them but just didn’t know how comfy they would be for me. A couple weeks later I was searching them online (yet again) and noticed that they come in a wide width option on the Dolce Vita site! I ordered them immediately (along with the now sold out pair below) and am so happy with the fit, the style, the look- LOVE! If you have feel on the wider side, I can’t recommend these more. (And if you’re looking for a great look for less, you can’t go wrong with this pair.)
Happy Tuesday, friends! If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you probably noticed more than a couple of snaps from a snowy winter wonderland recently, and today I’m sharing a bit more about our trip to Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky, Montana.
Eric and I first laid eyes on Lone Mountain Ranch during this road trip last summer, but they were completely booked at the time so we settled for a quick lunch before hitting the road again. We knew we wanted to eventually make it back for a stay, so we started looking into packages and summer dates sometime around January of this year. Obviously within a couple of months Covid-19 was the new reality, and that trip was shelved for the future.
Fast forward to sometime around the end of summer and I came across an Instagram ad that Lone Mountain Ranch was staying open through the month of October (something they don’t normally do) and offering incredible cabin rates for that month. For reference, LMR offers a bunch of different packages, but for the most part, it’s an all-inclusive experience that includes your meals, trail rides, horse-back riding, and tons of different activities. (And for additional reference, the packages are pricey.) But because it’s 2020 and nothing is normal, we were able to book a cabin for a sort of a la carte stay that was so perfect for us.
We stayed in the “Ouzel” cabin, and given the chance, I would 100% book it again. It was spacious but so cozy with a wood-burning stove fireplace and a clawfoot tub that I loved. There are no TV’s (which we both enjoyed), but the wifi and cell service on the property is excellent which made it easy to get work done when needed. Horn & Cantle, the restaurant on the property, is seriously delicious, and we ate there for every breakfast and almost every dinner. The Korean Chicken Wings were probably the best wings I’ve ever had, and the Vegan Enchiladas were a surprising favorite for a couple of meat-eaters. The entire staff was beyond friendly, warm, and so helpful, and going during Covid restrictions, we felt completely safe – mask rules were in effect in any building we entered.
When I first booked it, I figured we would get some pretty chilly weather. I wasn’t really thinking it would be covered in snow and -6 degrees during one of the days, but it honestly just added to the trip. We spent one full day exploring Yellowstone National Park, and after seeing it last summer on our road trip, it was pretty cool to see it again in the winter. The snow really does add a magical layer to the park. We spent Saturday eating and shopping in downtown Bozeman (about an hour from the ranch) and then a lazy Sunday in the cabin, sitting by a fire, reading a book, and watching the snow. (I had scheduled horseback riding that had to be cancelled due to the weather – even the locals were surprised by the amount of snow and negative temps in October.) Overall, the trip was incredible, and Eric and I both agree that we’ll be back to Lone Mountain Ranch, hopefully sooner rather than later.
xoxo
P.S. – We were supposed to leave on Monday and fly home, but we decided we were just too close to Jackson Hole to NOT go. (Jackson has been a favorite of ours that we try to visit at least once a year.) So we extended our trip a couple of days and took the rental car the four hours to Jackson. It was a short stay but totally worth it. (You can see a bunch of my favorite spots to visit in Jackson Hole here.)
I’ll be the first to admit that neon was NEVER really my thing, but over the holidays I just couldn’t say no to this chartreuse sweater from Scoop (above). Sadly the sweater is now sold out in this color (you can still snag the navy in a few sizes for under $20 here), but my quest for all things neon is currently still going strong.
There’s really no better way to add a little fun to any outfit, especially going into spring. Next up on my list? 100% these Tretorn sneakers (that I already own in two colors and LOVE) and this way-too-cute coordinated little workout set from Free People that I think I might just need today. And then? All the other things included in today’s roundup, just scroll below to add a little pop of neon to your wardrobe.
Happy Thanksgiving week, friends! A little over twelve hours in Louisiana, and I’m already testing out the stretch in my stretch pants. Thanksgiving week PLUS Louisiana food? This was bound to happen, and I’m not even mad at it.
Admittedly I’m a little behind on letting you guys know about some of the sale finds out now because tons of retailers just don’t wait until Black Friday any more. Both of my sweaters, the jeans, and the booties above are all on major sale. (The black cardigan is under $14!)
The Cyber Week sales right now are so good, and shopping them in your pajamas right from your computer (or phone) is even better. So below I’m rounding up some of my favorite sites to shop right now (and will be updating as the week goes on). Here’s hoping you find something for yourself and everyone on your list. Happy shopping!
Blame it on the up and down daily temps or the fact that these days I’m not looking to be anything but comfy, but if you’ve seen me out and about over the last few weeks, there’s a good chance I was wearing sneakers. Sneakers all day, every single day. And can I help it that my new obsession just happens to be every damn where this fall, calling my name from every website and storefront I shop? No, no, I cannot.
And I am not mad at it. I’ve been hooked on the sneaker trend for a few seasons now – with jeans, dresses, skirts, leggings, all of the outfits. And this fall, I feel like there are SO many great, affordable sneakers to be snagged. (Because yes, I do splurge on handbags, but I just cannot pull the trigger on those very popular $500+ sneakers.) So today I’m rounding up some of my favorite fall sneaks for under $100 – just click through below. Which ones are you currently eyeing?
It’s one of my favorite (FAVORITE) sites to shop, and it’s one of my favorite sales of the year. Shopbop is having one of their Buy More, Save More sales with 20% off orders under $500 and 25% off orders over $500, and it’s the perfect time to stock up on so much fall goodness. (If you think about it, that’s a similar percentage that lots of sites give on Black Friday, but this sale is just in time to kick off the new fall season.) Use code STOCKUP19 site-wide on full-price and sale items.
Well, folks, we’ve reached that time of year. Chances are every blogger you follow is currently talking “fall transition pieces” or “sweater weather” or “the booties you need” right now, and truthfully, it’s for good reason. Fall is the season that most people will be shopping next. Sweaters and jeans and booties and such are the pieces that lots of gals will be looking to add to their closets.
That said, we’re also in the season that I consider to be SoCal’s true summer. August, September, and even October are when things tend to seriously HEAT up around here, making me think a little more about beating the heat than fall fashion. So while I’ll no doubt still be wearing (and posting) breezy, airy dresses and denim shorts for a while, I’ll also be sprinkling in some lightweight fall pieces that I can’t wait to wear like my favorite black skinnies.
I snagged these Madewell skinnies last year (seen here and here) and am still loving the sleek, all black look. It’ll be a while before I’m pairing them with any sweaters, but a pretty little lace-trimmed blouse like this one from Wayf is not so far off. (I also love this blouse now paired with a faux leather skirt like this one or this one and simple booties.)
Which pieces are you guys looking forward to once the temps cool down?
It’s here again, friends – the spring sale from Shopbop. And while I’m a couple of days late sharing the sale, I couldn’t let today go by without doing a little roundup of some of my favorite snag-worthy pieces. It can be a little overwhelming combing through the entire site, but I always like to start by thinking of the pieces that I KNOW I’ll wear a bunch during the spring and summer months ahead – denim shorts, an easy sandal, a neutral sun hat, a versatile sundress, and a classic handbag. (Eek, so excited for that handbag to arrive!)
It’s also the perfect time to stock up on those season-less basics or to pull the trigger on the designer investment piece you’ve had your eye on. I wear the HECK out of the classic skinnies, slip-on loafer style and black turtleneck above, and while the Ferragamo handbag is a total splurge, you can currently snag it for 25% off if a designer bag is something you’ve been saving for.
It’s a Buy More, Save More sale, so the more you spend, the more you save. Check out a few more of my favorite finds in the sale below, and remember to enter code GOBIG19 at checkout. Happy shopping, friends!
