Prime Time

1. Smashbox Photo Finish Light Primer;  2. bareMinerals Prime Time BB Primer with SPF 30;  3. Neutrogena Shine Control Primer;  4. Too Faced Lip Insurance Lip Primer;  5. bareMinerals 5 in 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow;  6. Urban Decay Brightening & Tightening Complexion Primer Potion

Most morning, my makeup routine consists of concealer, my favorite powder foundation, and a little eye makeup to keep things clean and simple, but when it really matters, I always start with a little primer on top of my moisturizer.  It makes my makeup last longer and prevents the mid-day shine that can be inevitable.  There are so many options out there ranging in prices and promises, but above are a few that I’ve tried and love.  The bareMinerals “Prime Time” is my everyday go-to because it’s really light and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling.  The Smashbox “Photo Finish” is definitely a bit heavier, but it is great for an ultra-matte finish, perfect for an event or special occasion.  The Neutrogena version is an excellent drug store find, and the Urban Decay Brightening & Tightening potion helps smooth those fine lines and brighten dull skin.  For lips, Too Faced Lip Primer readies your pout for even the most unforgiving lipstick.  As for the eyes, I’ve never been a big fan of eye primers because it just seems like an unnecessary extra step, but this 5 in 1 from bareMinerals does it all –  brightens, smooths, has built-in color, and includes SPF.  Let me know – did I leave off any of your favorites?
xoxo

I have streamlined my daily routine so much in the past few years. I love Urban Decay’s eye primer potion in Sin; it’s a shimmery champagne , but I don’t use it to prime. I swipe on a light line of either navy or emerald UD eyeliner then smudge the Sin primer over as a natural yet defined day look. Then if I want to darker my shadow for night my primer is already in place later. Lorac also makes a fantastic CC cream. it has enough pigment to function as a buildable foundation but is light enough to function as a quick through on.
