Ever look in the mirror and realize, holy hell, I’ve let things get a little out of hand here?  And by things, I’m talking about strands – this hair of mine.  It’s what happens every time I realize that I need highlights.  I’m not one of those people who schedules my hair appointments weeks out.  Nope, I’m the girl who suddenly sees horrible roots and decides she needs a hair appointment that day.  (Not always an option – commence the begging.)

And the same goes for my occasional (or perhaps more common than I’d like to admit) ratty split ends.  Although Southern California certainly doesn’t have a crazy winter, we do get the dryer air that affects my skin and hair this time of year.  Additionally, like most girls I know, I tend to put my hair through quite the heat ringer, and let’s just say it happens way too often.  I knowwww that I shouldn’t wash and style my hair everyday, but when you’ve got a baby-fine, toddler mane like mine, sometimes skipping a wash just isn’t an option.  (Sometimes you just don’t want to be the girl who’s 85% dry shampoo, ya know?)

And so I wash and dry and straighten and style, and when L’Oreal reached out with a little “How Damaged Is Your Hair” quiz, I was pretty sure I knew how this one ended.  It ends with them telling me to chop it all off, right?  Nahh, there’s a better solution, friends.  L’Oreal’s got a brand new product line out right now called Elvive at Target, and it’s all about repairing our damaged locks.  Based on my quiz results, I spent the last couple of weeks putting the products to the test.

The L’Oreal Elvive Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm is that super moisturizing deep conditioner that every gal needs every now and then.  I’m no stranger to products like this one and am always on the hunt for the best deep conditioners.  This one really did leave my hair softer, shinier, and smelling amazing.  The directions say to leave it in for 3-5 minutes, but I love to slather it on, throw my hair in a loose bun, and leave it in for a while – maybe during a long bath (my fave) or while I’m doing something like laundry.

The L’Oreal Elvive Total Repair 5 Protein Recharge is that perfect everyday (or NOT everyday, because we’re not washing everyday, right?) leave-in conditioner to help protect my hair from all the heat.  It’s the product I’m reaching for right out of the shower before I start any styling.  We’ve all been told that hair could use more protein, so this product adds it back with each use.  Plus, it smells great which is a big plus for me.

The Extraordinary Oil Deep Nourishing Treatment is the second styling step for me when I feel like my hair could use a little extra moisture.  Most days, I’ll add it to my ends while they’re still wet, but occasionally I’ll also rub this stuff into my ends once they’re dry.  This one you can also use as a little switch-up for the Damage-Erasing Balm – add a bunch of oil to your mane and sit yourself in a hot bath, girl.  (Or stand in a steamy shower, whatever floats your boat.)  The heat will help the oil penetrate deep into strands so maybe, just maybe, you’ll get that freshly trimmed look.  Because that’s what we’re really going for here, right?

All three products I tried feel super luxe without breaking the bank, and if you want to take a little quiz to see which ones are best for you, head right over here.  (L’Oreal Elvive also has a specific product for colored hair – Color Vibrancy Repair and Protect Balm). Participating Target stores will be hosting an in-store event on 2/24 showcasing large scale reveals of before and after images of damaged to healthy hair after using L’Oreal Paris Elvive hair products. Follow this link to find out which Target stores near you will be participating. Here’s hoping we all have a 2018 filled with healthy hair.

xoxo
