If you haven’t checked in on the blog yet this week (I mean, where have you been?), I’ve been yammering on (and on and on) about the Shopbop Buy More, Save More sale, and today, I’m going back in.  But I promise it’s all for good reason!  I first posted about it here and then chose a few more favorites here, and I shopped the sale myself on the very first day.  (I’ll be receiving my goodies today and CAN’T FREAKING WAIT.)  But then I found myself browsing the site once again and realized that I missed so many things.  So many things.  Annnd they’ve added in some new arrivals!  Is it bad if I place another order today?  Shopbop sale, round two?  Good idea or bad idea?  Of course it’s a good idea, you guys are so supportive.  So today I’m sharing some of the things that I missed earlier, and I’m for sure, for sure ordering number 7.  And probably number 9 because I can never have too many basic stripes.  And then maybe number 13 because how great would they be paired back with number 7?  Decisions, decisions, may the shopping force be with you.

One Hell of a Year

2016-4And just like that, y’all, 2016 has come and (almost) gone.  Just bananas, I tell ya.  While I’m well aware that there are quite a few 2016 haters out there (a lot went down this year), I have to say that personally, it was one hell of a year around here.  This year I married my best buddy and started on our first year of marriage.  After all of last year’s planning and prepping and dreaming and more planning, our wedding celebration was everything we could have hoped for, and we still look back on the day ALL the time.  This year we bought our first home and started the long journey of gutting it, remodeling, and putting in our own personal touches.  The first phase got us moved in and counting our blessings, and the second phase has just begun around here.  (Here’s looking at you, Spring 2017.)  This year I experienced my first cruise with the best gals, headed back to New York for Fashion Week (twice! – BRRR! That first trip was a COLD one.), ventured a bit more around California, and had a bachelorette weekend to remember with an amazing bunch.  This year was trying at its worst and amazing at its best, and I’ve got nothing but love looking back at the goals and milestones reached in 2016.  And you guys!  Nothing, nothing, nothing but love for you guys for continuing to follow along on this journey and supporting me more than you ever know along the way.  I started this blog back in 2011 as a way to chat all things clothing, shoes, bags, beauty, travel, and anything in between with fellow fashion lovers, and you guys have given me five amazing years (and counting!) of doing just that.  To the amazing readers that constantly come back, leave comments, and give the best feedback; to the brands that I’ve been SO lucky to work with this year; to the beyond talented photographers that I now call friends; and to the local spots that I just can’t get enough of, here’s one giant THANK YOU from me to you.  I can’t keep this little blog going without all of you, and I couldn’t be more thankful for this little safe space in the craziness of 2016.  So cheers to you guys, and cheers to 2017 – let’s kick this one off with a bang, shall we?

xoxo

Keeping Cool in Coolchange

Day number 4,387 of the heat wave around here, and the keeping cool struggle is so real.  But just when I think that the heat is starting to get to my brain, I think back on the couple of mid-July weeks that I spent in New Orleans and Miami, and I’m like, what heat wave?  These photos were taken during my time in Miami where the air was toasty and the wardrobe options were limited.  I’ve since decided that this little cotton tunic from Coolchange is one of the breeziest things that I own, and along with its caftan sister, it’s been a serious go-to for keeping cool and keeping my sanity lately.  It’s just one of those perfect summer dresses that weighs nothing and works every time.  The studded sandals are probably my most worn kicks of the summer, and I can’t get enough of this tasseled crossbody.  Happy Monday, friends, and hope everyone is keeping cool this week.

Since moving to Newport Beach a few years ago, my collection of swimsuits and coverups has admittedly gotten a little out of hand, but I like to think that’s just because there are so many good ones out there these days.  Over the past year, I focused my attention on white suits and caftans because, well, it just seemed like the bridal thing to do at first and then it became a full-on obsession.  If you love a good white beach look like me, brace yourself.  Everything But Water has just launched the ultimate capsule collection full of “White Delights” and it is SO GOOD.  The collection includes bikinis, one-pieces and a few really great coverup options from some of Everything But Water’s best designers.  There’s no time like the present to snag your favorite and work on that tan because summer is just around the corner.

If you’ve been following along here for the past few months or over on Instagram, you probably know that I’m currently in New Orleans for my wedding week!  It’s been a long time coming, and I can’t believe the big day is almost here.  While planning for our wedding, I spent SO much time finding the dress, the shoes, the accessories, the little things that I wanted to make our day so special.  So when it came time for packing, I was a little overwhelmed to say the least.  There were so many things I needed to remember to pack!  And then it came to planning outfits for the rest of our trip, I went for easy dresses and caftans, gladiator sandals, versatile handbags, and some of my favorite “athleisure” pieces for traveling.  And this new “Mrs.” weekender was the icing on the cake.  So today I’m sharing a few of the pieces that made it into my bag for our wedding trip to New Orleans.  Whether I forgot anything important or not?  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Becca swimsuit, skirt, kimono (c/o);  Prima Donna hat (c/o);  Ray-Ban sunglasses; Tkees flip flops

A couple of weeks ago we had our first real taste of summer here, and I must say, it was pretty great.  There’s really nothing like a day at the beach to make you forget about the workweek and anything else weighing on your mind.  It’s why during the summer months here I pretty much live in a swimsuit.  Every year I stock up on a few go-to suits, and over the past couple of years, they’ve all been Becca.  I seriously, seriously just love their suits.  They offer a ton of styles, prints, and colors for all sizes, including those of us who need a little more coverage on top, and they won’t break the bank.  Every print has matching coverup options, and let’s be honest, I can’t resist a good coverup or caftan.  Give me a sheer muumuu or kimono and I’m one happy girl!  What are some of your go-to swimsuit brands?

Today I’m sharing one final look from our staycation in Laguna Beach a few weeks ago, and looking at these photos, I WANNA GO BACK!  I had so much fun soaking up the first beach weekend with Kathleen, Krystal, and Jenn, and the weekend was only made better surrounded by beautiful clothing and accessories.  Case in point, this new favorite Calypso St. Barth kaftan that makes any beach and post-beach day better.  Paired with the newest addition to my Becca swimsuit collection (If you have boobs, this brand is THE best.), it’ll pretty much be my summer standby.  And speaking of the beach, it’s seriously calling my name today – I just may have to take the afternoon off to sun my buns.  Happy Friday, everyone!

Theodora & Callum caftan (c/o);  Bijouterie bracelets;  Vanessa Mooney ring;  Persol sunglasses

In the summertime, I’m such a sucker for anything lightweight and flowy, particularly things that pair well with a swimsuit, and this Theodora & Callum caftan is right up my alley.  As creators of some of my favorite scarves, Theodora & Callum has the easy breezy thing down, but their bold colors and prints are what I love the most.  They really do make such a statement, and I know this caftan will be a definite go-to during so many weekends (and summers) to come.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!
