Earlier this week I shared about Target’s brand new, completely redesigned collection of denim, and today’s pair is definitely another favorite.  I needed a new pair of clean, black skinnies, and these fit the bill perfectly.  They fit like any designer pair of jeggings in my closet and were under $30.  You just can’t beat that.  If you don’t believe me about the fit, you should definitely give them a whirl yourself.  Now through August 15th, Target is offering free shipping and returns on all denim orders so you can try them on at home.  Just follow this link to check them out.  You won’t regret it, friend.

I love a good monochromatic look, and this spring and summer, I’m all about incorporating more blues into my wardrobe.  This jumpsuit from CAbi is one of those pieces you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again – from day to night, workday to weekend.  It’s so easy to dress up or down, and today it’s going down (for real) with a favorite denim jacket and metallic sandals.  This bucket bag is available in every necessary color for summer, fits all your crap, and makes just about any look better.  It’s a seasonless keeper that I’d definitely recommend.

I know the East Coasters are going to kill me, but today it’s supposed to get up to 83 degrees in Southern California so I’m breaking out one of my new favorite spring dresses.  For me, nothing says spring like a feather-weight shirtdress, and this one from CAbi’s new spring collection immediately caught my eye.  I love the bold print of it (perfect for laidback Valentine’s Day plans) paired with easy booties and CAbi’s equally easy Weekend Jacket.  (Seriously. I have last year’s version of this jacket and still wear the crap out of it.)  Today Eric and I are headed to Louisiana for my cousin’s wedding and will be (Gasp!) visiting a couple of wedding venues of our own in New Orleans.  Fingers crossed we find the one!

One of my big goals for 2015 is to update parts of our home and add in some much-needed organization.  My first stop on “Project Overhaul” is my home office where I spend a huge chunk of my time every week.  It’s probably one of the most neglected areas of our home, but it has so much potential.  It’s located in a nook in our living room (making it a very visible disaster) and is filled with so much natural light.  In the spring, I can open the top of our Dutch door to let in the best breeze.  My desk is a vintage, beat-up thing that an old neighbor was throwing out, and the desk chair is pretty much an eyesore.  There are a couple of things that can stay in my office space though.  I have an old black and white striped armchair that I love and a small cabinet where I keep office supplies.  The rest is a work in progress.  I’ve been on the hunt for a white desk that’s just right, and then I think everything will start to fall into place.  For now, here’s a color palette and a few favorite things that are giving me inspiration.  Stay tuned as I’ll be sharing my office redo along with revamps all around our little beach house.

On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink

And when the pink is high voltage fuschia ponyhair, small doses of pink will do.  I drooled over this bag forever until Piperlime’s 60% off sale after Christmas when I finally decided to pull the trigger.  (It’s now sold out on Piperlime, but you can find it on sale here.)  Along with these boots that I’ve worn the crap out of lately.  Two decisions I definitely do not regret.  Glorious mail day indeed.  The good news?  Piperlime is having another great sale that ends today.  Take an additional 60% off all sale merchandise with code “BESTSALE”.

With the holidays upon us, there’s nothing easier than an all black look, and by adding in pops of color and mixed textures, it’s as sleek as it is easy.  Leather joggers are always a comfortable choice, and topped with a cropped sweater and faux fur vest, they’re holiday party appropriate.  Bold accessories and a bolder red lip finish off the look.  Hope everyone has a great start to the holiday week!

Holiday Moments of Chic

With all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it’s so nice when you find versatile pieces that can work from day to night, from work to holiday party.  This little ivory dress from Piperlime’s collection is definitely a dressed up little party dress at first glance, but in a pinch, it works just as well for a day around town.  Add on a military-inspired jacket (this one from CAbi has been on major rotation lately), booties, and an easy crossbody to take a lacy number from night to day.  Once the sun goes down, switch up the footwear to heels, add a dressy jacket, and grab a clutch to fit right in at the holiday soiree.  How are you making your holiday chic a little easier this year?

This year, Thanksgiving was a warm one to say the least.  I don’t know why this always surprises me – it’s the same thing every year, but for some reason, when I think of the holidays, I think of celebrating them warm and toasty by a fire when the reality is more like warm and toasty in a pair of shorts.  But anywho.  We had an amazing day with family and friends, ate too much, fell deep into a food coma, and slept like babies.  Today we’re headed to Big Sur for the weekend, and I couldn’t be more thankful for this crazy spontaneous life filled with so much love.  Hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving!

I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect leopard coat for a couple of years now, and this year, I think I may have found it.  Don’t get me wrong: there are tons of really great leopard jackets and coats out there, but living in Southern California, the last thing I need is (another) heavy winter coat.  This one from CAbi is lightweight and SO comfortable, and I love the three-quarter length sleeves – so great with longer sleeves layered underneath in the winter.  Also, this post marks the first appearance of the boots that I will undoubtedly be over-wearing this winter.  They’re the perfect no-frills, suede over the knee boots, and after skipping out on them and regretting it last year, I couldn’t resist when they came back around this year.  These photos are from my recent New Orleans trip where a slight cool front gave me a little taste of fall.  Hopefully there are more fall temps coming my way soon!  Happy Friday, everyone!

It’s rare that I find a maxi skirt that I really love, but this one from Alloy really caught my eye.  I love fall-ish taupe color and crinkled pleating, and it works just as well now with a sleeveless top as it will later with a cropped sweater.  A fringed handbag and feather-embellished hat helped to complete the boho look.  Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!
