Happy almost Friday, friends! When it comes to getting dressed, there’s one thing I love more than clothes, shoes, or anything else: jewelry. Stacks of bangles, layers of necklaces, lots of rings – when accessorizing an outfit, I’m usually a more is more type of gal. I’ve been through tons of jewelry phases from chunky to delicate and everything in between, and currently, the pieces above are the ones I’m grabbing the most.
Admittedly, a couple of them are total splurges, but for the most part, they’re SUPER affordable Amazon finds. That nameplate necklace? It’s completely customizable and under $20. I’ve worn it along with the initial necklaces and gold beaded bracelets for months, and the quality has really held up. Linking these and a few more favorites that are currently in my cart below. Hope you guys love these as much as I do!
When it comes to my wardrobe, I have to admit – when I love something, I love it hard. Gladiator sandals were in, I wore them to DEATH. Stretchy culottes of the 2000s? I had every color. Comfy, cozy loungewear and all the matching sets of 2020? You know I went all in, and I’m not ditching a single piece yet. (In fact I’m just doubling down and grabbing more sets and comfy basics for spring, #NoRegrets.)
And in addition to the loungewear love I’ve currently got a big ole thing for jumpsuits. (To be fair, I’ve kind of always got a thing for jumpsuits, but they’re currently in heavy rotation around here.) It started with the tailored, strong shoulder version above and pretty much took off from there. If you’re digging the look like I am, scroll around below for a few of my faves at a bunch of different price points, including two that are under $20.
Happy Wednesday, friends! This morning I realized that I blinked and February was just about gone. Just like that, it’s almost March, and in my mind, almost spring. Wardrobe-wise, I’m SO ready for ALL things spring. Bring on the shorts, the dresses, the sandals, and everything else in between. And for today, here’s a little photo dump of so many looks from the last few weeks because spring or not, my favorite sneakers, loungewear, and comfy denim are here to stay.
Because my jogger addiction needed a reason to transition into a whole new season, I present to you the “spring jogger”. (These are actually called “summer sweatpants” on the website, but no need to skip ahead a season.) Now I’m no stranger to warm weather sweats, and last year I kicked it through quarantine in this little matching shorts and short-sleeved sweatshirt combo (that I now own in more colors than I care to admit) all spring and summer long. Recently I also snagged this shorts and sweatshirt combo from Target and have been living in it.
So when I stumbled upon the “summer sweats” above and below, let’s be honest, it wasn’t a real stretch for me. I will say though, I’m pleasantly surprised with how much I love them. They’re so lightweight, seriously soft, and are exactly what I want to throw on with a tee or sweatshirt lately. They currently come in two colors and run a bit big, so I’d recommend sizing down. Sizes sold pretty quickly and tend to come in and out of stock frequently, so if you’re looking to snag a pair, just keep checking.
And with that, here’s to the weekend, friends. Sending lots of love and prayers to Texas, Louisiana, and all those hit by the winter storms this week. I know there is a lot of work to be done for all those affected, and if anyone knows of some great organizations doing work to help in those areas, please send them my way via email (Nikki@mystylediaries.com) or Instagram message. Hoping for lots of sunshine ahead.
For the days when you want to wear sweats but feel the need to wear “real clothes” (hello, responsibilities), there’s just no beating an easy, comfy dress. With sneakers or booties (or sandals in the spring), I love the effortlessly polished vibe that a dress gives off over your everyday jeans and sneakers, and luckily here in SoCal, we can almost wear dresses all year long. Almost. So today I’m rounding up six super affordable, won’t break the bank styles that you can wear now and into spring.
Dry January is almost done and California is slowly reopening, so I’m thinking I’ll be making my way to a weekend brunch in one of these dresses REAL soon. Happy almost weekend, friends!
Well 2020 was certainly the year that I embraced all things loungewear, and while I fully intend to get dressed a bit more in 2021, that doesn’t mean I’m kicking the sweats to the curb anytime soon. In my defense, much of California is still operating in shutdown mode with a ban on all indoor AND outdoor dining, among other things – so we really don’t get out much around here besides the weekend bike rides. Also in my defense, I REALLY freaking love all the loungewear out in the world right now and see no reason to call it quits.
And so when I discovered joggers that look like jeans but are actually made of super soft jersey that’s just printed to look like denim? Say no more and sign me up because these joggers are seriously comfortable and somehow flattering as a bonus. They come in two “washes”, fit a bit on the bigger side (I’m wearing a small in these) and are admittedly a splurge. (I snagged them during an after-Christmas sale using a gift card, so they seemed somewhat reasonable, ha.) I’ll definitely keep an eye on these to see if they go on sale anytime soon because I clearly need them in the other wash now, right?
Loungewear lovers rejoice – our favorite fashion just got a little upgrade.
Heads up, friends – one of my favorite online boutiques is having a sitewide sale, and if you’re in need of a little wardrobe pick-me-up, I think you’re gonna want to take a scroll. Red Dress Boutique is one of those sites that I actually don’t shop all that often for some reason, but every time I do, I find a couple of things that I end of loving. The dark floral dress above is one of those pieces. Right now it’s under $45, and I really love how you can style it a thousand different ways. It’s so cute with booties, sneakers, or sandals, and I also paired it with tall boots and a leather jacket over the holidays. The tunic sweater above is another favorite that I think I’ll be grabbing in a second color.
Whatever you’re in the mood for, Red Dress has a ton of cute things right now. From dresses to sweaters, loungewear to sneakers, and the cutest selection of hats, there are so many good finds at some really good prices. Use code “Bright20” to take 20% off your entire purchase. January 2021 has been the longest year ever, right? So go ahead – treat yo’self.
Happy Friday, friends. I normally like to kick off the new year with some sort of new year goals post or at least a little look back at 2020, but the first week of 2021 has come and gone and to say it was a disastrous hot mess would be an extreme understatement. Holy embarrassment. So I’m calling a redo and officially kicking off the new year next week. (And no, I’m not trying to make light of this week’s events – I just don’t currently have the words.) Please, sweet baby Jesus, let us all get it back on track this year. As soon as we all re-learn to love and respect each other, the world will be a whole lot better for it.
So for now, I’m rounding up some favorite loungewear lately because hey – new year, same old stretch waistband, you feel me?
If I had to think back on some of favorite trends of 2020, I really can’t remember much besides loungewear, sweats, and so many fuzzy slippers. (What can I say, it’s been a really great year in fashion around here.) But besides my favorite stretchy gear, these days I’m loving that comfy, cozy “shackets” are seriously everywhere.
As you might gather from the name, shackets are somewhere between a shirt and a jacket, and I’m loving the versatility. You can wear one buttoned up or open over a tee or tank. Pair them with denim, leather shorts like above, with leggings or even over dresses. It’s the perfect layer for days and dinners ahead, so today I’m rounding up some of my favorite shackets from around the web. Hope you guys dig ’em as much as I do.
Happy Tuesday, friends! If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you probably noticed more than a couple of snaps from a snowy winter wonderland recently, and today I’m sharing a bit more about our trip to Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky, Montana.
Eric and I first laid eyes on Lone Mountain Ranch during this road trip last summer, but they were completely booked at the time so we settled for a quick lunch before hitting the road again. We knew we wanted to eventually make it back for a stay, so we started looking into packages and summer dates sometime around January of this year. Obviously within a couple of months Covid-19 was the new reality, and that trip was shelved for the future.
Fast forward to sometime around the end of summer and I came across an Instagram ad that Lone Mountain Ranch was staying open through the month of October (something they don’t normally do) and offering incredible cabin rates for that month. For reference, LMR offers a bunch of different packages, but for the most part, it’s an all-inclusive experience that includes your meals, trail rides, horse-back riding, and tons of different activities. (And for additional reference, the packages are pricey.) But because it’s 2020 and nothing is normal, we were able to book a cabin for a sort of a la carte stay that was so perfect for us.
We stayed in the “Ouzel” cabin, and given the chance, I would 100% book it again. It was spacious but so cozy with a wood-burning stove fireplace and a clawfoot tub that I loved. There are no TV’s (which we both enjoyed), but the wifi and cell service on the property is excellent which made it easy to get work done when needed. Horn & Cantle, the restaurant on the property, is seriously delicious, and we ate there for every breakfast and almost every dinner. The Korean Chicken Wings were probably the best wings I’ve ever had, and the Vegan Enchiladas were a surprising favorite for a couple of meat-eaters. The entire staff was beyond friendly, warm, and so helpful, and going during Covid restrictions, we felt completely safe – mask rules were in effect in any building we entered.
When I first booked it, I figured we would get some pretty chilly weather. I wasn’t really thinking it would be covered in snow and -6 degrees during one of the days, but it honestly just added to the trip. We spent one full day exploring Yellowstone National Park, and after seeing it last summer on our road trip, it was pretty cool to see it again in the winter. The snow really does add a magical layer to the park. We spent Saturday eating and shopping in downtown Bozeman (about an hour from the ranch) and then a lazy Sunday in the cabin, sitting by a fire, reading a book, and watching the snow. (I had scheduled horseback riding that had to be cancelled due to the weather – even the locals were surprised by the amount of snow and negative temps in October.) Overall, the trip was incredible, and Eric and I both agree that we’ll be back to Lone Mountain Ranch, hopefully sooner rather than later.
xoxo
P.S. – We were supposed to leave on Monday and fly home, but we decided we were just too close to Jackson Hole to NOT go. (Jackson has been a favorite of ours that we try to visit at least once a year.) So we extended our trip a couple of days and took the rental car the four hours to Jackson. It was a short stay but totally worth it. (You can see a bunch of my favorite spots to visit in Jackson Hole here.)
