It’s officially gift-giving season (or at least gift-buying season), and I’ve already got a little tiny start. Three gifts is a start, right? This year I’m skipping the gift guides on the blog and sharing some favorite finds as they come along. If you’re on the hunt for cozy little somethings for your loved ones or yourself, definitely check out this post to grab Barefoot Dreams pieces for a steal.
And today I’m rounding up a slew of scarves that I’m loving right now, and they’re all under $50. From bold colors and beautiful prints, ultra-soft fabrics and fun fringe, there are lots of great picks below for the gals in your life. Click through and stay tuned for more gift ideas in the coming weeks. Happy shopping, friends!
Not to sound like some sort of naysaying “back in my day” grandpa or something, but if you had told me a few years ago that we’d be able to pay a small membership fee to get almost anything in the world delivered to our door within 24-48 hours with the click of a button, I would have thought you were living in a Go-Go Gadget pipe dream. And yet here we are, living in the land of Amazon Prime.
I’m well aware that Amazon certainly has its own problems and critics (and rightfully so in some cases), but I have to be honest. We use it. Like, a lot. And even going a step beyond Prime, we live in an area close enough to a distribution center that we have “Amazon Now” which will deliver certain items within two hours. It’s a wild, wild world. So while taking a little scroll through our recent orders, I thought I’d share a few things found on Prime that I’m loving these days.
This easy, breezy, under $30 dress – You may have seen a little buzz recently around the #Amazonnightgown dress (made VERY popular by Grace and Hitha and covered by a ton of media outlets) that I’m wearing below, and it’s just as comfy, cool and breezy as everyone promises. Admittedly it’s really not ideal for those of us who are busty, but I figured for the price, it was totally worth it for hanging around the house or running quick errands. But then I found the version above from the same brand, and I’m obsessed. It’s just as easy and breathable, still under $30, and has a drawstring waist for a much more flattering fit. I love this one so much, I’ve ordered the second color that it comes in too.
The beaded bracelets I’ve worn nonstop – I definitely go through phases with jewelry, and these days I’m in a “more is more” bracelet-stacking, necklace-layering kind of mood. I especially love stacking pretty glass beaded bracelets, but the good ones can be SO expensive. A few weeks ago I came across some really great beaded bracelets on Amazon, and I’ve been layering them nonstop everyday. Especially loving this all gold version (and am eyeing the other colors), this pretty gold and grey one, and these mixed sets.
This no-mess dog bowl – If you have a dog who can’t drink water without making a mess all over the damn floor (we have two of them), this water bowl is a real floor and sanity saver. The top part of the bowl floats on the water, so the pups can’t dip their whole face in the bowl and proceed to drip all over your wood floors that currently have permanent water stains. Speaking from experience here, clearly.
Hot honey, tuna…and flapjacks? – Occasionally there are food items that I either can’t find in our local grocery stores or just want to order more of without battling the shopping cart bumper car game that is Costco. Currently, here’s what I’m restocking. Mike’s Hot Honey is an obsession of mine on pizza, on breakfast sandwiches, for cooking shrimp, and so many other things. Safe Catch tuna is pretty much the only brand of tuna I’ll eat these days (and I have it often) because the only ingredient is, wait for it, tuna. While that may sound crazy, take a peek at the ingredient list on most of the tuna brands at your local grocery store – it’s wild. Finally, these Kodiak Cakes pancakes on the go are seriously SO good, the best breakfast treat, and they can be pretty hard to find.
The book I’m currently reading – I picked up Me Before You by Jojo Moyes during our summer roadtrip and couldn’t put it down. It’s heartbreaking, hopeful, and sweet, and once I was done reading it, I obviously needed the second book of the trilogy. Amazon had Me After You on my doorstep within about twelve hours. I’m about halfway through it (Why is making time for reading so much easier on vacation?) and am still loving the story.
These sunnies that only look expensive – I’d say about nine times out of ten, if I’m wearing sunglasses, they’re probably aviators. They’ve been my go-to shade style for years, but sometimes I want to switch things up with an oversized shape or something fun without breaking the bank. I had seen a few people talking about this $10 pair and decided to give them a try. I ended up “springing” for the polarized version which set me back a whole $17 – so worth the splurge.
A makeup case perfect for travel or home– My previous makeup bag had definitely seen better days, so I snagged this one during Amazon Prime Day when it was on sale. Even at full price though (under $20), it’s still a steal. It’s fully customizable with adjustable dividers, has a zippered compartment, and a covered section for storing makeup brushes. It’s kept my makeup clean, organized, and easy to toss in a suitcase for a few weeks now – can’t recommend more.
The coziest slippers – After little puppy Wilma ate my last two (not one, TWO) pairs of slippers, I figured I’d get a new pair when she was done with that delightful phase. A few months later I ordered these, brought them along on our summer roadtrip, and was so happy to have them. There’s just something about slipping into your own slippers in a hotel or while traveling, and these are seriously cozy. (I also have and love this pair from Emu. I keep them in Palm Springs and am always happy to be reunited with them when we head to the desert.)
The pimple patches that always save my butt (and face)– The occasional (or lately not-so-occasional) breakout is so much more manageable with these little magic stickers. They don’t work for every single blemish, but I’d say they have worked for the majority for me. I put one on before bed, sleep with it, and wake up to a zit that’s either completely gone or seriously reduced. I’ve gotten several friends hooked on these too, and the best part? A pack is only about $4.
My favorite seasonal K-cups (that happen to be completely out of season) – Community Coffee’s Mardi Gras King Cake K-cups are always my favorite around Mardi Gras season, and now, you don’t have to live in the South or even wait for Mardi Gras time to enjoy these. There are hints of cinnamon and vanilla, and I tell you, they make for one delicious cup.
Fresh off of this week’s fall sneak peek post, let’s switch things back to holy moly, it’s hot, y’all. This week I ventured out to my first ever solo movie date with myself, and I’ll admit – it was half because I really wanted to see Where’d You Go, Bernadette (which I read during our summer roadtrip) and half because I needed some freaking AIR CONDITIONING, friends. And also a little bit because I love The Lot SO much.
In the spirit of not sweating my face off, I’m all about little breezy dresses these days, and according to my recent purchases, I’m so into dark floral dresses. They’re airy and let me breathe, but they look a little fall-ish, right? Right. Pair them with sandals and wedges now and booties in the actual fall. (I paired the above dress with these booties recently for a Rolling Stones concert and felt that I was almost cool enough to be there.)
So scroll below where I’m rounding up a few of my favorite fall-ish dark florals that can help you play the “fall” part while still beating the crazy heat. Happy weekend, friends!
Spring has finally arrived in SoCal, and I am one happy camper. Can we even believe that it’s almost May already? This weekend we spent some time in the sun and even made it to our first baseball game of the season. The year is flying by, but I gotta say I’m pretty excited that summer is right around the corner.
While spring is normally my cue to pull out ALL of the dresses, this year I’m also having a real obsession with wide leg pants. To be fair, I’ve always had a thing for wide leg pants (still loving this polka-dot pair from last year), but this year I just keep finding more and more pairs to love. Worn with a knotted tee, easy blouse or linen shirt and heels or wedges underneath, they’re such a flattering and fun wardrobe staple.
Whether you go for tame stripes or something super bold like these, there’s no better way to shake things up for spring. Hope everyone has a great week ahead!
Blame it on the fact that this SoCal “winter weather” just won’t quit or that my current everyday uniform consists of workout wear and sweats, but if there’s one trend from fall that I’m still loving, it’s anything resembling a teddy jacket. And let’s be honest, I knew this one wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon for me. Something cozy and soft and oversized and just so good? Sign me up…times a few it seems.
I first scooped up my favorite ivory version in New York during the fall (seen here and here) and have worn that fuzzy little number more than I even care to admit. It’s just…so fun. I recently snagged this oversized version in green, and then a couple weeks later, wouldn’t you know the pink puff above somehow made her way into my closet? I guess you could say things are getting a little out of hand, but I gotta say, I really don’t care.
If you haven’t tried out the trend (or just want to get a little out of hand with it like yours truly), I’m rounding up a few favorites below that are almost all under $100 with a bunch under $40. Most of the versions that I’ve tried have run a little large, so I’d say it’s usually best to size down. So scroll around and pick your fave – something’s gotta hold us over until spring, right?
Velvet, leather, snake prints, and every single sweater I find – the fall fashion lust is real these days, and today I’m rounding up 15 favorite finds. Although Southern California has been WARM these last couple of weeks with no real end in sight, we did get a little taste of cool weather back in September that has me all about the fall things.
Why is it when I have the most work to do, I find myself doing the MOST online shopping? Well, I’m sure that’s not a hard one to figure out: procrastination at its finest, y’all. But also, part of my job? Sure, we’ll go with that. The new arrivals are seriously EVERYWHERE, and so many of them are just staring at me, like, buy me. So today I’m rounding up 13 pieces that are currently on my radar. I scooped up these velvet beauties this week, and now I’m like, do I need the leather ones at number six too? Maybe? Probably. The fur-embellished sneakers and patchwork jeans (same brand as these that I wear all the time) are next on my list as well as a pair of metallic sneakers for spring. Also, loving this big tote for any upcoming travel plans – totes made from this material always have the most comfortable padded straps. I need new sunglasses like I need a hole in my head, but somehow the perfectly mirrored pair under $20 just gets me every time – add ’em to the collection, hoarder. So basically the list goes on and on, but hey, that’s fashion, right? What pieces are you guys looking to add to your wardrobe this month?
Hey, girlfriends, anybody up for a little hump day cabi giveaway? Two whole months ago I gave you guys a little peek at a couple of my favorite things from cabi’s Fall 2016 collection, and finally, finally – fall is almost here. (Well, technically it’s here, but the fall weather seems to be a little delayed with this week’s SoCal heat wave.) Since the initial launch, I’ve fallen for so many more pieces like this long cardigan that I’m basically obsessed with for fall. Pair it with a dress (like this printed cabi number), skinny jeans, or comfy leggings to take this killer cardi anywhere, day or night. (Last week I actually needed a little outfit boost for dinner, so I paired with denim cutoffs, a tank, and leather mules for an easy transitional look.) Also loving this sweater pea coat and this beyond comfy layering piece that are both coming to the blog soon. If the first collection didn’t have enough goodness, cabi just added fourteen new arrivals yesterday so you can update that wishlist of yours. (And mine.) And while we’re on the topic of that wishlist, here comes the fun part. I’m teaming up with cabi to give one lucky reader $250 towards whatever your heart desires. So get the cardigan! Or don’t. It’s your prerogative, babes, but whatever you do, don’t miss out on entering this week’s cabi giveaway. Happy Wednesday, and good luck!
Happy Sunday from Miami, friends! If you’ve been following along on Instagram and Snapchat, then you probably know that I’ve been hanging out at Miami Swim Week with the Kyboe! team this weekend. Miami has been a scorcher, but it couldn’t stop me from hitting up the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for all the new fall goodness. Have you guys shopped the sale yet? While I’m LOVING all of the boots, jackets, and scarves, I definitely wanted a few transitional pieces that I could start wearing now. (Because who can let new clothes sit around unworn? Kills me.) This dress is definitely one of my favorite finds of the sale. It’s lightweight and breezy for now but so easy to pair with a leather jacket and booties once fall rolls around. Plus, the slit makes that whole “Angelina leg” thing make so much sense – you just can’t resist.
Need a little more motivation to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? I’m teaming up with some of my favorite blogger gals to give one lucky winner a $500 gift card to Nordstrom. So you can buy this dress. You can buy 10 of them actually. Although maybe that’s a little overkill, and there are a ton of other things you may want to get your hands on, just saying. So click around below to enter – a winner will be chosen on Thursday, July 21st. Good luck!
Happy Thanksgiving week, friends! Eric and I are in Louisiana for the week with my family, and when I’m home for the holidays, there are always two things I can count on: rain and stretch pants. We checked the rain off the list yesterday (and most likely again tomorrow and Friday), and as for the stretch pants, these faux leather leggings from Walmart have been the BEST. They look and feel exactly like a more expensive pair that I own. They’re high rise, stay put, and have just the right about of sheen.
I had been looking for a new tunic-length sweater to wear with leggings, and this one is GOOD. It’s super soft, just the right length, and is just so comfy. It’s currently on sale for $20 for Black Friday, so I went ahead and snagged a couple more. If you’re on the hunt for a new sweater or two, I’m telling you, you have to check out the selection at Walmart right now.
Whether you’re looking for comfy cozy looks or a little holiday sparkle, Walmart has so many great finds right now. Scroll below for a few more easy finds that I’m loving. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
