Wedding Wednesdays: The Venue

Riverview Room
I started this blog a few years ago as a place where I could share a little style advice and put together virtual outfits for readers.  Over the years, it’s evolved into something very personal, a place where, along with outfits of the day, I’ve shared my own stories, travel, and mini milestones.  This year I’ll be planning our wedding, so I figured what better place to share aspects of that process than right here with you.  Hopefully, you don’t mind terribly.

I knew from the beginning that the venue would be the one detail that would make everything else fall into place.  Eric and I had just been to our friends’ wedding in Hawaii, so immediately, I thought I’d like to do a destination wedding.  I thought about Florida or Mexico, then did some serious searching in Big Sur, our favorite spot.  In the end though, home is where the heart is, and New Orleans just seemed right.  (Both of our families were voting for New Orleans from the beginning, it just took me a little while to come around.)

We looked at two venues in New Orleans, and we knew hands-down that the Riverview Room was the place for us.  It has an amazing rooftop overlooking the city for the ceremony, and inside will be perfect for the reception.  It’s open and airy with four different balconies for guests who want to step outside.  The reception will be served buffet-style, a Southern tradition at weddings that I love.  (No rules!  Eat when you want, dance when you want!)  With the venue booked and the date set (April of 2016!), I can’t wait to see the rest of the details fall into place.

xoxo
