Beauty Review: Temptu

A couple of years ago I got my makeup done, and the makeup artist used an airbrush system on my face.  I thought it was the coolest thing, and I must say, my skin looked flawless.  It was kind of the best possible version of myself without looking overly made-up.  When it comes to airbrush makeup systems, I’ve heard a lot of good things about Temptu, so I was excited to get the chance to try it out for myself.  Excited, but also intimidated. The Temptu system arrived pretty compact, and it was really quick and easy to set up.  (Connect the power cord, air hose, and AIRpod gun, then snap in the foundation pod.)  As soon as you turn it on you’ll start to feel the air coming through.  You hold the lightweight gun like a pencil and pull back on the “trigger” to allow product to flow through.  I tested the flow on my hand first to get a feel for how much or how little I wanted to press on the trigger.  I was surprised that the foundation is super light, allowing you to build the look you want through layers and avoiding one heavy, caked-on coat.  The dial on the machine allows you to adjust airflow according to your needs, but I keep mine on the standard 3:00 position.  The kit also included blush and highlighter shades which were also easy to apply, build, and blend.  (I even used a bit of the blush as a lipstain and added gloss over it afterward.)The intimidation factor wore off really quickly, and the after effect was light, bright, and a little bit glowing (if I do say so myself).  There are no brushes or sponges required, and the formula is hypoallergenic, great for most skin types.  I will say though, that Temptu for me is definitely not for everyday use.  It takes more time than my usual mineral powder makeup, and I would reserve it for special occasions only, making the price a bit steep.  (And also accounting for this sitting-down review.  I tend to sit on the floor in front of a mirror when I have a little more time to do my makeup.)  Overall though, I am impressed by the Temptu system, so if you’re looking for a professional-quality airbrushed look that you can achieve in your own home, it’s definitely worth a shot.
