REALLY trying to drive home the fact that I love holiday sparkle these days.  REALLY love it. Today’s look is another Rent the Runway find, and whether you’re looking for that last minute holiday party dress or getting a little head-start on finding your New Year’s Eve look, you can’t go wrong with this one.  I love the fact that it has sleeves so you can look fancy without freezing, and the easy shift shape leaves plenty of room for those holiday desserts.  (Because saying no to all of the holiday treats is just not an option, am I right?)  There are seriously A TON of sparkly options over on Rent the Runway right now just waiting for their next night out, and the process of renting and returning couldn’t be easier.  They send the dress or dresses that you choose (including a second size for free) to your door for a 4- or 6-day period.  Once you are done with your pieces, just throw them back into the garment bag (no need to clean them – they’ll do that for you), use the shipping label that’s included in your package, and drop them at your local UPS.  So simple.  So pick your dream dress, throw on your favorite heels, add a red lip (LOVE this one), and you’re good to go.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Happy Monday, friends!  How was everyone’s weekend?  I’m currently in Palm Springs getting our house ready for some photos this morning, and after a full day of working my booty off around here yesterday, I think she’s finally ready for her close-up.  I’m really excited with how the decor turned out, and I can’t wait to show you guys.  Also, I can’t wait until we can enjoy this house when it isn’t 118 degrees out.  No joke, that summertime scorch was in full effect yesterday.

But, moving onto today.  Today I’m sharing another look from our stay at the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara, and this little black maxi dress is so perfect for even the hottest days.  It’s lightweight, loose and airy, and bonus – it has pockets.  #Score  And it’s currently on MAJOR sale.  (Like, originally $338 marked down to $87.)

It’s part of Rent the Runway’s clearance sale where you can get previously rented dresses for up to 75% off.  (If you haven’t tried out their rental service, I’d totally recommend.  I’ve found some amazing party gems from RTR in the past.)  This BCBG maxi came in perfect condition and just in time for those Southern California end-of-summer heat waves.  Once the temps drop, just throw on a denim jacket and peep-toe booties, and you’re good to go.

The Rent the Runway clearance is full of amazing finds like this beyond beautiful trench, so I’m linking a few of my favorites below.  No time like the present to treat yo’self to a little something on sale.  Happy shopping!

Nikki Minton of My Style Diaries wearing a flirty floral dress and snakeskin heels for Valentine's Day style.

Sooo, clearly this year I’ve gotten really into this whole Valentine’s Day style thing (see here), but I just can’t help myself.  It’s our first married Valentine’s Day, so whatever, sue me.  We’re keeping things pretty low-key and walking to one of my favorite little spots in Lido Marina Village, but who says you can’t get a little dressed up just for the fun of it?  Same goes for a little Galentine’s Day dinner and drinks with the girlfriends.  Also, no need to reinvent the wheel here, so today I’m showing you how to recreate 8 looks from past posts that are perfect for the upcoming made-up holiday.  The best part?  Some of the pieces are now on super sale, so see something you like?  Go ahead, treat yo’self, girl.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

The cabi Scoop and a Few Spring Favorites

cabi Scoop Spring 2019 | My Style Diaries blogger Nikki Prendergast cabi joggers, turtleneck, and blazer (c/o);  Zac Zac Posen handbagJ.Crew velvet slides

Happy Tuesday, friends!  Did anyone else completely take the day off yesterday for Presidents’ Day?  I really can’t remember the last time I had a full-on lazy day lounging with the pups with zero responsibilities (slash none that couldn’t wait until today), and it was glorious.  We also went to bed super early snuggled under a ton of blankets because currently in Southern California, it IS COLD.  Eric left for work this morning with ice on his car, and we’ve been using our heater more in the last couple of weeks than we did all last winter.

But cold or no cold, spring fashion is on its way, and I am ready for it.  A few weeks ago I got to once again attend cabi’s annual “Scoop” fashion show, and it was just as fun as ever.  I’ve chatted about it here before, but cabi Scoop just epitomizes the idea of women supporting women.  It’s a huge room filled with ladies who seem to genuinely love what they do and are also SERIOUSLY enthused about the next season of fashion from cabi.  And when I saw the spring runway, I was pretty enthused myself.  We’re talking a slew of spring blouses, three pairs of wear-everywhere shoes, a handful of adorable sweaters and cardigans, the basic knit tees that have become my go-to favorites, and so much more.

If you missed out on the Scoop it, take a look at the video below to see the a peek at cabi’s spring line, and scroll down for a few of my favorites (including this striped blouse that will be on the blog soon).  Which pieces would you guys like to snag for spring?

Whoo-Wheeeee. Currently writing this blog post from a million miles in the sky as I’m heading home from two days in New York City. Two days. It was a super short trip, but wouldn’t you know it, the Big Fat Apple left me feeling all kinds of inspired? It’s been two years since I last attended fashion week, and by default, two years since I last visited New York. While I don’t really miss the hustle and bustle of that particular week in the city, I do miss the inspiration from it.

I bought this skirt thinking that it was perfect for a dinner night in New Orleans, and it definitely was. (Bee-Tee-Dubs – these photos were taken in New Orleans, not New York. I took zero photos in New York and I’m 100% Coolio with that. I shopped instead. Why are NYC Zara stores so much better than the ones in Southern California?) But I digress. So I bought the skirt, loved it, wore it, and thought – I can’t wait for the next time I can wear it.

Then I got to New York City and changed my thought to, What am I waiting for? The women in New York I swear just kill it. They’re commuting by buses, trains, and good old fashioned footwork, and some of these gals could be running right off a runway. I saw a girl yesterday hopping on a bus in a pleated metallic maxi skirt, a graphic tee, sneakers and a leather tote with all of the things. It was raining and humid and sticky and just freaking gross, but she had taken that pretty maxi skirt and made it rainy day, bus-hopping, city appropriate.  So chic.

Which brings me back to this new favorite metallic skirt. I love it dressed up (blouse + heels), dressed down (graphic tee + sneakers), or somewhere in between like the look above. And now I can’t wait to get home and pull out more favorites from my closet. What are some things in your wardrobe you’ve been “saving” for a special occasion that you could just pull out now? Finally splurged on that lust-worthy handbag? Don’t let it sit on a shelf, girl!

(Oh, and apparently I’ll be wearing these sock booties all fall long, so hopefully you don’t mind?)

Here’s hoping everyone has a great weekend ahead, guys!

Mixed Prints for Fall

While I’ve been a fan of mixed prints for a while, these days I really can’t get enough, and I’m blaming it all on these shoes.  In my mind, they go with everything.  In the easiest black and white pattern, it’s so easy to mix and match them with other prints and patterns in my closet like this black and green cabi blouse.  And don’t even get me started with the sort-of matching little crossbody that adds so easily to the mix.  Both the heels and the bag are part of Trina Turk’s newest fall collection, and I seriously can’t even count how many more pieces I’m eyeing.  It’s.  So.  Good.

But don’t take my word for it – come on into Trina Turk tonight to take a little look for yourself and find your own new favorite mixed prints.  Tonight I’m so excited to be attending Style Week OC and hosting a little in-store shopping party at the Trina Turk store in Fashion Island from 7 to 9 pm.  There’s a runway show at 6:30 and four other bloggers hosting in-store events at four different stores, so I really do think it’ll be such a fun night.  If you’re in the Orange County area, I’d love for you to come by and say hi!  Looking forward to meeting everyone there!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: First Picks

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 1. Rebecca Minkoff Chevron Quilted Love Crossbody ($98 off)  2. Tory Burch Polarized Cat Eye Sunglasses ($70 off)  3. Treasure & Bond Boyfriend Jeans ($43 off)  4. Hinge Faux Suede Miniskirt ($28 off)  5. Vince Camuto Bailey Crossbody ($60 off)  6. David & Young Felt Fedora ($10 off)  7. Steve Madden Suede Over the Knee Boot ($50 off)  8. Ruffle Hem Shift Dress ($18 off)

If you follow a few blogs, you’ve probably seen bloggers posting about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  (And if you don’t, well then guess what?  It’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale time!)  What’s all the hype about, you ask?  Well, it’s all for good reason because the sale is HUGE.  Like, bigger than Black Friday huge.  (After all, Black Friday is best spent recovering from your food coma on the couch while trying to gather the energy to go shopping for a Christmas tree, but I digress…)  It’s the best time to get a head start on this year’s fall wardrobe, and because the items on sale are all new, most sizes are usually in stock.  It’s the once-yearly, non-picked-over sale that you can shop right from your couch.  Technically right now is the Early Access sale for cardholders only, but even if you’re not a cardholder (and don’t want to become one), you can browse the sale here.  It’s shoppable for everyone starting on the 17th.  During last year’s sale, I scored the leopard pumps that I’m obsessed with (similar to number 11 above) and the Rebecca Minkoff crossbody that I’ve used to death.  (And dying for the new chevron version, number 1 above.)  Don’t miss out on this year’s sale to pick up a couple of new favorites for yourself for a sweet deal.  Happy shopping, and happy weekend, everyone!
