Anyone else needing a serious post-holiday fast slash detox today?  (Raises hand.  How much eggnog can one person actually even drink?  You don’t wanna know.)  You can find me at Juice Served Here from now until the new year just getting my juice on, trying to erase those holiday calorie sins.  I mean, gotta kick off the new year right, right?  Riiiight.  This week my mind is firmly on our New Year’s Eve plans which have yet to be decided.  Nothing like the last minute.  We will most likely be spending the holiday in the mountains and crossing our fingers for snow, but we’re still deciding for sure because that’s just the kind of people we are.  The last minute kind.  I do know one thing for sure though, if we were spending our New Year’s Eve any other way, I’d have my outfit picked out by now.  While this is still my top pick for a NYE dress, a perfectly draped maxi might be my close second.  This one by Riller & Fount (constantly a favorite brand of mine) is serious perfection and makes me (sort of) forget about all those holiday sweets I had.  It’s unfortunately sold out online, but I’m linking several similar styles below, just in case you actually do have plans made and need a little last-minute New Year’s Eve help.  Annnd in case you’re looking for a party dress that feels like your favorite pajamas because, well, why not?

Bet you never woke up in the morning and thought, you know what my closet could really use?  A chambray maxi dress, I gotta get one of those.  Or maybe you have, in which case, go you.  Because I certainly never thought I needed one, but now that I have this chambray maxi dress in today’s post, I’m like, what else would I wear this weekend?  It fits like any other potato sack shaped weekend favorite, but it buttons all the way down the front so you can adjust just how much leg you want to show.  (Or just how much attention you want your pom pom sandals to attract because trust me, these kicks speak for themselves.)  And while I’m gushing about this pretty little maxi, I might as well throw in this fun factoid: it’s under $40, y’all.  Cheap thrills, friends, it’s what the weekend was made for, and who am I to let the weekend down?  Time to ditch the alarm clock, pour yourself a little Friday night vino, and say HELLOOO to the weekend.  Happy Friday, guys!

Back in December when my parents visited California for the month, I decided to surprise my mom for her birthday by requesting tickets to The Ellen Show.  It was kind of last minute and I really wasn’t expecting to hear back about the tickets, but surprisingly I got a call from the show a couple days later.  I took my mom and mother-in-law, and we made a day of it in LA.  Somewhere between the laughs and awkward sober dancing during commercial breaks, the day took the ultimate fun turn when we found out that we were part of Ellen’s Christmas giveaway shows.  Whaaat?!  It was a total surprise, and insanity ensued as an audience full of ladies collectively lost their minds.  Among the amazing prizes (including a trip to Vegas!) was a fat gift card to Kohl’s, and right now, there are a million things in store to spend it on.  Besides the amazing new collection of Reed handbags, there are flowy little dresses and maxis galore.  This one caught my eye and is already right at home in my summer dress rotation.  It’s light as a feather and so comfortable for the hot months ahead.  Plus, it’s currently on sale for under $40.  Gift card or no gift card, that’s a no-brainer, y’all.  Another no-brainer?  If you’re in LA or planning to visit the area, definitely request tickets to The Ellen Show because that shit is fun.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Switching things up quite a bit from yesterday’s post, today I’m heading full-speed for spring.  How am I supposed to resist when every store is filled with the prettiest new spring things and outside it’s like 75 degrees here?  So I’m just going for it.  I was actually roaming around Nordstrom looking for cozy pieces to bring to New York with me when I found this maxi.  From the front slit to the flowy sleeves to the killer print, it was love at first sight.  Paired with gladiator sandals (another spring and summer obsession of mine) or wedges, it’s perfect for an upcoming outdoor morning wedding that had me a little stumped in the wardrobe department.  Plus, I’m sure I’ll be wearing it 4,639 times this summer because it’s so lightweight and easy, and at under $100, I’d say that 4,639 is a sufficient amount of wears to make it more than worth it, right?

And just like that, it’s almost MAY.  It sounds so crazy to even say it, and between trips to Florida and Hawaii and some time spent in Palm Springs, it’s been a while since I checked in here.  So, HI!  What a difference a year makes, and I can honestly say I’ve never been so excited for spring and summer to arrive.  We celebrated Eric’s birthday over the weekend with a BBQ and some pickleball in the street, and somehow it felt like summer was already here.  (And after last year, it sort of feels like we earned it.)

So today, I’m celebrating summer days to come with a whole big roundup of warm weather dresses that I’m loving.  18 of them, to be exact, and over half of them are under $40.  Seriously, the amount of cute and affordable little dresses I’m finding this year… it’s starting to get…expensive, ha!  Scroll down below to shop – here’s hoping you find something that puts you in a summertime mood.  Happy Tuesday, Friends!

Happy New Year, my long lost friends!  Yes, I realize we are already halfway through January (WHAAAT?!) and that my last post was wayyy back at the beginning of December, but I can honestly say I have no regrets about it.  Well, that’s not true.  I do wish I had shared more snaps of our holiday home decor because it’s 100% my favorite time of year in our house, but other than that, I’m so glad that I spent the holidays being present and just celebrating my favorite time of year with family and friends.

Things have admittedly changed for me in the last couple of years in the blogosphere, and that’s OK.  I worked hard to build an authentic, genuine following here on the blog, and your support has meant and will continue to mean the world to me.  THANK YOU for following along all these years!  Over the years I’ve probably failed to keep up with some of the blogging trends out there – I NEVER got into Snapchat (still don’t get it), have zero interest in creating Youtube videos, am terrible at keeping up with Instagram stories, and, in general, was VERY late to the Instagram game.  And don’t even try to talk to me about TikTok – I have NO idea what that app is about.  Impeding, maybe, but I’m OK with that too because these just never felt very “me”.

These days, managing our Airbnb property takes up a good bit of my time, and when it comes to lots of events and travel, well, I really just love being at home with my husband and pups.  While I’ve continued to post on Instagram, the blog has been a bit neglected.  But now, the new year is here and it’s time I get back to sharing the things clouding up my headspace – fashion, home decor, and (obviously) the Amazon purchases I’m loving.  My 2020 goal is a handful of posts a month on only my favorite looks, finds, and random thoughts…and the dogs.  Obviously the dogs.

And so today, kicking off my 2020 posts with an outfit full of favorites.  I actually grabbed this dress in the orange color back in late November but decided to swap it once I saw the black color online.  It was on backorder but finally came in, and I LOVE it.  I love the fitted top, flowy skirt, sheer sleeves, and easy floral print.  It’s beyond comfortable, and I’m digging it with booties and a leather jacket now and sneakers and a denim jacket into spring.  Speaking of leather jackets, this favorite with gold hardware is currently on major sale and feels so much more expensive than it is.  Also, if you haven’t checked out these under $20 Amazon hats yet, you’re seriously missing out on a steal.

Happy 2020 and a BIG, FAT THANK YOU to all of you for following along!

xoxo

In summers past here on the old blog, you could usually find posts and posts with my favorite maxi dresses of the season.  They were always my jam, a throw-on-and-go staple that I couldn’t live without, but this summer has been pretty maxi-free for me.  (Well, unless you count these maxi pants that are freakin’ awesome.)

I just hadn’t come across any maxi dresses I loved this year, until I saw this one.  It’s that perfect, ultra-soft, gauzy material, has a built-in slip and the prettiest embroidery, and was the perfect piece for a recent Palm Springs shopping trip.  It was HOT out (112 degrees to be exact), but this little gauzy number somehow allowed me to breathe.

It’s really more of a midi dress which is actually perfect for transitioning into cooler fall temps.  How cute would this be styled with a favorite denim jacket and little taupe booties?  There are a TON of adorable fall bootie options here, but I’m really loving these and these.  (And these if you want a lower-heeled version.)

Here’s hoping you’re staying cool, friends, and that some cooler fall temps are right around the corner.  (A girl can dream, right?)

Happy Monday, friends!  How was everyone’s weekend?  I’m currently in Palm Springs getting our house ready for some photos this morning, and after a full day of working my booty off around here yesterday, I think she’s finally ready for her close-up.  I’m really excited with how the decor turned out, and I can’t wait to show you guys.  Also, I can’t wait until we can enjoy this house when it isn’t 118 degrees out.  No joke, that summertime scorch was in full effect yesterday.

But, moving onto today.  Today I’m sharing another look from our stay at the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara, and this little black maxi dress is so perfect for even the hottest days.  It’s lightweight, loose and airy, and bonus – it has pockets.  #Score  And it’s currently on MAJOR sale.  (Like, originally $338 marked down to $87.)

It’s part of Rent the Runway’s clearance sale where you can get previously rented dresses for up to 75% off.  (If you haven’t tried out their rental service, I’d totally recommend.  I’ve found some amazing party gems from RTR in the past.)  This BCBG maxi came in perfect condition and just in time for those Southern California end-of-summer heat waves.  Once the temps drop, just throw on a denim jacket and peep-toe booties, and you’re good to go.

The Rent the Runway clearance is full of amazing finds like this beyond beautiful trench, so I’m linking a few of my favorites below.  No time like the present to treat yo’self to a little something on sale.  Happy shopping!

The Romper Dress

A few years ago the romper stormed onto the fashion scene as something actually acceptable to wear out in public past the age of five and it grew really popular, really quickly because, other than that whole unzipping your entire outfit in public restrooms thing, what’s not to love?  I mean, a girl’s gotta have options besides your standard dress.  Similarly, the maxi dress was accepted with super enthusiastic open arms because it’s basically a smiled-upon muumuu, no?  So it was only a matter of time before these two trendy-trends joined forces and birthed, for lack of a better name, the romper dress.  The maxi romper?  The dromper?  Too far, Nikki.

Well who am I to pass up a good fashion fusion, so here I am, giving it a (literal) whirl.  And y’all, it’s not so bad.  I’ve got a long torso so I sized about as far up as you can go and paired her with the first ever bralette that I’ve found for busty gals.  (Seriously, it’s a game-changer.)  The romper dress has long sleeves, but it’s the perfect weight to make it A-OK for right this second.  Fall fashion or no fall fashion, I’m not trying to sweat it out for no apparent reason, feel me?

Also, a little blog housekeeping note.  After a WAY too long hiatus, the My Style Diaries emails are back up and kicking and (I hope!) better than ever!  I’m trying to make it so easy for you guys to get the content, links, and random ramblings straight to your inbox in a clean, consistent manor.  Today is day numero uno of the new system, and I totally welcome your feedback.  Please leave me a comment below or feel free to send over an email to Nikki@mystylediaries.com.  Growing and learning and experimenting with a romper dress together – who’s with me?!  (Seriously, are you with me?  If you haven’t already, head over to the side bar on the right to sign up for the emails.)  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Fall Dresses at Abercrombie

Bam!  And just like that, the blog is packed with so much fall fashion.  And you’re sweatin’ it out somewhere like, huh?  Where did summer go?  Well I’m right there with you, girl, but I just can’t turn my back on all the new NEW that’s happening right now with fall every-thang!  So while there’s plenty more swim, beach, and summer content coming atcha in the next few weeks, pardon this interruption for some of the cutest new dresses around.  Wanna know where they’re from?  Join me for a stroll down memory lane.

Admittedly, it’s been quite a while since I shopped at Abercrombie, but back in high school, it was my jam.  You had to have a pair of Abercrombie jeans, and obviously you needed one of those perfectly stretchy ribbed tanks or graphic tees to go with them.  Fast forward more than a few years, and Abercrombie is still known for their killer denim.  What really surprised me though was how many of their adorable dresses I wanted to take home.  Not kidding, their new slew of fall dresses are so dang cute.  From t-shirt dresses to boho florals, off the shoulder dresses, and even a couple of great rompers, there are seriously so many styles just calling my name.  They’re perfect for the seasonal transition, and at prices under $100 (and many under $50!), I couldn’t help but stock up.  This beaded clutch was the icing on the cake, and I left the store with the clutch and two fall dresses for around $140.  So if it’s been a while since you’ve checked out Abercrombie, go ahead and treat yo’self to a peek at fall because I’m telling you, it’s good.
