Ahh, the first Monday of the new year, and I figured the only way to kick it off was with stretch pants, coffee, a cute pup, and one giant sale. The Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale is once again kicking off, and it’s the best time to grab a couple of new favorites for spring. Got a warm weather vacation on the horizon? I don’t, but I’m thinking I need to grab this coverup and these sandals and plan one STAT.
Looking for something super versatile that you’ll wear a ton? This linen button-down is seriously so good. I’ve worn the white version so many times (see here, here and here), and right now you can grab it in four different colors for under $40. I’m rounding up a few more favorites below – snag your picks before they’re gone!
Hope everyone has a great first full week of the year!
You guys know I’m a sucker for a good sale, and today, one of my favorite sales of the season kicks off. It only happens twice a year, but the Lilly Pulitzer Afterparty sale is happening today, friends. I’ve worn a ton of Lilly over the years, and the pieces I have are serious closet favorites. In general, I keep things pretty neutral, but when I want to add a little color, Lilly Pulitzer is the go-to.
The sale has a ton of styles, all for a huge discount, and when it comes to the #AfterpartySale, the early bird definitely gets the worm. Head over to the site, get in line, and get ready to shop. (Full disclosure, the wait times can seem a little long, but just leave a browser open while you’re waiting and check back occasionally.)
Here’s wishing everyone a great week ahead! Happy Monday, friends.
And now this pretty-in-peach, rose gold embellished number is being added to the list. Y’all, I loved it when I saw it online, but in person it’s even more delicate and pretty. I love the cutout shoulder details, beaded tassels, and palm tree print, and I think it would make such a pretty little Valentine’s Day dress for those of us in the warmer weather.
If you’re a Lilly lover or maybe a newbie looking to dip your toes into the Lilly Pulitzer madness (trust – Lilly fans are no joke), then now is the perfect time because their biggest sale of the year is officially ON. It’s called the After Party Sale, and it’s pretty much bananas. If you head over to the site, it’ll put you in a queue and give you a wait time. It seems a little crazy, but it’s meant to make everyone’s shopping experience a little better (and prevent their site from crashing I’m sure).
So that’s it – wait your turn, and you’re in. No codes to enter, no song and dance. You can be sure I’ve got my eyes on the prize and claiming any pretty little Palm Springs-friendly pieces to take with me to Modernism Week in February. Happy shopping, friends!
Confession: I know one blogger who’s spending just a little extra time working from her bed in her pajamas today. (Insert raised hand emoji here.) Kathleen and I just spent the week playing Southern California tourists with Jenn and Krystal, and I, for one, am pooped! I mean, eating your way through Orange County can really take it out of a girl. Did you guys see our snaps and Insta stories from Anqi Bistro a couple of nights ago? That meal will go down as like, a lifetime favorite. Crazy, crazy good. Jenn and I and the boys rounded things out last night with some surf-watching from the Huntington pier and the yummiest fish at Duke’s. The gals headed home this morning and I’m thinking I could use a few days of fasting or cleansing or hibernating or something, but it was SO good getting to hang with them here for a few days. Next time we’ll all be together is in NYC for fashion week which is coming up so quickly.
And onto today’s post. Now that the crazy Nordstrom sale is over, I’m finally getting around to sharing one last look from Miami Swim Week. I’m not usually one for crazy colors and patterns, but when I saw this Lilly Pulitzer romper, I just couldn’t say no. It’s the coolest, breeziest little romper for the summer heat, and the fit is just easy. And isn’t that what we’re all looking for in the summer? Hope everyone is having a great week!
Wanna know one summer staple that is guaranteed to become a favorite of mine, year after year? Caftans, girl, and this Lilly Pulitzer caftan just jumped to the top of my list. It meets all of the basic requirements: light and airy, softest fabric, and an easy throw-on-and-go style, but Lilly Pulitzer kicks it up a notch with some seriously beautiful beading. It seriously feels like some kind of hand-made artwork and instantly transports me to some resort somewhere. (Vacation, anyone?) It’s the perfect swimsuit topper for those summer pool parties, but I’m definitely not confining this Lilly Pulitzer caftan to the beach or pool. How pretty would this little number be with some strappy gold sandals? I mean, real cute. You really can’t go wrong with anything Lilly this season, and in fact, you’ll probably want to spend your #SummerInLilly. Here’s hoping everyone is having a great week!
Happy Thursday, friends! Crazy times we’re living these days. The quarantine crazies are slowly setting in around here, and with all the current online sales, I just can’t stop wardrobe and home decor tinkering. Now before anyone comes at me for promoting sales and shopping at a time when SO many of our friends and family are hurting, I wanted to share my point of view.
Right now the retail industry is hurting. And while that industry includes retail giants who will likely bounce back (mostly) unscathed, it also consists of so many small businesses, designers, guys and gals who just love fashion like myself. The fashion industry has always supported me, from my college retail jobs to working with brands in public relations to this blog that’s been my own small business since 2011. And so, while I’m staying home spending LOTS of time with my laptop, I’m gonna support the fashion industry right back.
So today I’m rounding up some favorites from the Joie Friends & Family sale (30% off sitewide including sale items with code JOIEFRIENDS) as well as a few other sales worth shopping below. If you’re shopping right now, I invite you to take a scroll. (And if not, then no worries!) Also, if you know of any retailers, big or small, that should be added here, feel free to send them my way! Hope everyone is staying safe and taking time each day to do a little something that makes you happy.
Spring has finally arrived in SoCal, and I am one happy camper. Can we even believe that it’s almost May already? This weekend we spent some time in the sun and even made it to our first baseball game of the season. The year is flying by, but I gotta say I’m pretty excited that summer is right around the corner.
While spring is normally my cue to pull out ALL of the dresses, this year I’m also having a real obsession with wide leg pants. To be fair, I’ve always had a thing for wide leg pants (still loving this polka-dot pair from last year), but this year I just keep finding more and more pairs to love. Worn with a knotted tee, easy blouse or linen shirt and heels or wedges underneath, they’re such a flattering and fun wardrobe staple.
Whether you go for tame stripes or something super bold like these, there’s no better way to shake things up for spring. Hope everyone has a great week ahead!
If you’ve followed along for a few summers now, then you’ve probably noticed that jean shorts are my main jam when it comes to the warmer months. Last year I wore the hell out of this AGOLDE pair (still available this year here), and currently, I’m all about this high rise pair from Good American. Normally, I’m not into high rise shorts. I LOVE high rise jeans exclusively, but for some reason, I like to wear my shorts a bit lower. It’s probably because most companies don’t make them long enough for the tall girls, so a high rise equals a constant wedgie. TMI, but it’s the truth.
A couple of weeks ago I came across this pair at Nordstrom and figured I’d give them a whirl. I went up one size from my normal skinny jean size for a bit of a looser fit, and I love them. The denim is super soft, the rise hits at just the right spot on my waist, and the legs are a bit roomier than most – all pluses in my book. They’re admittedly a bit of a splurge, but I know I’ll be wearing these a ton all summer long with swimsuits, tees, or button-downs like this season after season favorite from Lilly Pulitzer. (See it styled here, here, and here.)
And while we’re talking about favorites, how cute are these striped espadrilles from Marc Fisher? If you’re feeling these then you’re in luck because early access to the Marc Fisher Friends & Family sale starts today. Take 25% off with code MFSquad25. Here’s hoping everyone has a great week ahead!
This one took a little more work to get it ready for visitors, but now I have to say I love it. It’s cute and comfortable and has a similar open and airy feel to the downstairs unit with two bedrooms, each with a queen sized bed. My favorite feature of this one though? Climb the spiral staircase in the kitchen to the large, private rooftop deck that I’m admittedly obsessed with. Those sling chairs (above) are seriously comfortable and just begging for some summertime rooftop hangs. I told Eric not to be surprised if he saw a familiar name (mine) on the rental calendar this summer because I genuinely just want to hang out here.
It may be only April, but we’ve already had our first couple of swimsuit weather days around here, and I’m 100% on board. I’ve got my sights firmly set on ALL of the spring, summer, and resort style pieces, and the number one item on my list every year? Gimme all of the cute swimsuit coverups. During the spring and summer months I tend to live in coverups, and during our Palm Springs weekends in particular, I’ll usually ditch the swimsuit and throw one on over slip to go from the pool to dinner or drinks.
So today I’m rounding up twenty-five favorites – from dresses to rompers, caftans and sarong styles – in a range of prices. Click through below to find your new favorite. Now excuse me while I go throw a few in a bag for the desert weekend ahead. Happy almost Friday, everyone!
