If you thought that the Western-style boot trend this fall wasn’t for you, maybe give it another chance.  When I saw the trend coming, I was kind of into it, but now I’m INTO it.  My everyday life is admittedly heavy on the sneaker-wearing, but for a night out or date night dinner this time of year, boots are a go-to.  And right now I’m loving the mid-calf, loose-fitting Western-style boots that are seriously everywhere.  I just think they’re so flattering with dresses, skirts, and leather shorts.  Sadly my two current pairs are sold out, but I’m rounding up nine new pairs below that I love.  (And admittedly, I’ve already ordered a couple of them for myself – oops!)

You guys, they’re back.  My favorite wear with everything, JLo-inspired snake-print booties that were actually sent to me by mistake are fully back in stock right over here.  These first made their debut sometime around this Vegas trip two years ago, and they’ve become a total fall staple for me since.

The neutral snake print is perfect for jazzing up a simple look, or I love adding them to a floral dress to mix things up like the look above.  As an added bonus, they’re SUPER comfy – I’ve put some serious miles on these babies.  If you’re digging the print but looking for a slightly different shape, then scroll through below because I’m linking a bunch of additional cute to boot finds.

Side note, we’re gearing up for a fun little wine-tasting weekend with friends this Friday, and I’d love your suggestions!  We’ll be staying in the Solvang area and definitely want to hit up Los Olivos and Santa Ynez.  Let me know if you’ve been to any must-stop restaurants or wineries in the area.

Have a great rest of your week, babes!

Oh my gosh, y’all – what a weekend.  (Yes, I know it’s Tuesday, but we decided to extend our weekend a couple of days and things are feeling pretty Monday-ish over here.)  If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know that Eric and I and a couple of friends just spent a few days in Jackson Hole, WY.  We had an amazing time and were pretty bummed to leave, but if you have to leave vacation, it’s nice to get home to the holidays ahead of you, right?

I’ll be sharing a few snaps from the trip as well as favorite places we visited (SO many great places to EAT) on the blog soon, but for now, it’s back to a bit of regularly scheduled programming around here and the seriously warm December we’re having in SoCal.  With temps hovering in the mid 70’s for the foreseeable future, how’s a girl supposed to look holiday-ready?  Welp, I’m grabbing my go-to leather shorts and a favorite new pair of metallic booties and calling it a day.

The shorts are a favorite find from last year (styled here and here), but I’m linking a similar pair here.  And the booties are just plain fun.  They’re metallic without being over the top, and as a bonus, they’re so dang comfortable.  I’ll be wearing these all season long with dresses, distressed denim, and maybe even tights if the cool weather should ever come back.  Although after four days of Wyoming temps in the teens, I guess a few days of warm sunshine never hurt anyone.  Here’s hoping everyone has a great week ahead!

Monday, we meet again.  How was everyone’s weekend?  Mine was crazy productive in the best way possible.  My mom and my aunt flew in for a way too quick visit, and somehow with their help, we managed to get more decorating done around the house than I’ve been able to accomplish in the last four months.  Sometimes a second (and third) opinion is all you really need to help make a few decisions.  We mainly tackled the bedrooms of our house, and I can’t WAIT to show you guys the finished results…just as soon as we get some closet doors installed.  Baby steps, but I swear I’ll have a couple of room reveals up before it’s full-blown fall around here.

And speaking of fall, I’ve been chatting nothing but fall fashion around here for the last couple of weeks, but let’s be honest – it’s still very much summer outside.  In most places around the country including Southern California, it’s still pretty scorching out, so I’m soaking up every last day I can of jean shorts season.  Only these days, I’m pairing my beloved “jorts” with blouses or fall transitional tops and booties.  And I’ll be honest, there aren’t very many combos I love more than jean shorts and suede booties for the transition into fall.  Weird, maybe, but the jean shorts and suede booties thing has just been a favorite of mine for the last few years.  What are some of the transitional looks that you guys can’t live without?

I’m sure it goes without saying that I love clothes.  I wouldn’t have started this blog ten years ago if I didn’t.  But as much as I love clothing, my true weakness is handbags.  (And shoes and all accessories if I’m being honest.)  And while I do love an occasional designer bag splurge, I LOVE when I find a brand of handbags that only look expensive.  I’d be a bad internet friend if I didn’t share my favorite affordable handbag line with you guys, so today I’m sharing some of my fave bags from Scarleton with a discount code cherry on top.

I’ve tried a handful of Scarleton bags at this point, and every single one of them looks and feels so much more expensive than it actually is.  If you’re a backpack-loving gal, then I can’t recommend the backpack below more.  It’s structured and roomy with adjustable straps and would be so great as a carryon for travel.  The little white top handle is so versatile and pretty for spring and summer, but by far my favorite bag is this little crossbody that I now have in black and red.  (Also currently crushing on the green, so PRETTY!)  It’s the perfect size for everyday and comes with two different strap options, so it’s super versatile.

And right now my friends over at Scarleton are offering 15% off any of the bags here with code 15MYSTYLE.  (You can type in the discount code during Amazon checkout.)  I hope you guys love these as much as I do!

Happy December, friends!  Ahh, my favorite month of the year.  It’s the month of so many fun gatherings – Christmas parties, boat parades, girls’ holiday dinners, our annual white elephant party – and so many opportunities to get dressed up.  While we don’t have anything fancy on deck (yet!) this year, there will be plenty of occasions to pull out these go-to sweater dresses.  These two above and below are my absolute favorites right now –  so easy to dress up or down – and they happen to both be affordable finds.

So if you’ve got an upcoming holiday shindig that has you stumped in the wardrobe department, try one of these comfy, cozy sweater dresses.  (And don’t forget to scroll through the options at the bottom of this post for even more fun finds.)  Hope everyone has a great December ahead!

The Shopbop Black Friday Sale Is On

Spanx leggings, Hunter boots on sale | My Style Diaries blogger Nikki Prendergast (Original post hereSimilar cowl scarfSpanx leggings;  Hunter boots and boot socks

Happy Thanksgiving week, friends!  While I’m mentally preparing myself for the food coma ahead (or, let’s be honest – I’ve been in a food coma since arriving in Louisiana on Monday), I’m doing a little deal-loving happy dance over here because the Black Friday sales just seem to hit earlier and earlier every year.  And I, for one, am certainly not mad at it.  Just shop the sales, eat the bird, and spend a little time with family and friends instead of focusing on that old school Black Friday dash.

And today I’m kicking things off with some tried and true favorites from the Shopbop sale.  This is the Black Friday sale I look forward to every year.  For the second year in a row, I’ve used the sale to stock up on a few cold weather essentials for our upcoming trip to Jackson Hole.  (If you’ve got a cold weather trip coming up, I can’t recommend these Hunter boots, boot socks, shearling inserts, and chunky scarf more.)

It’s a Buy More, Save More sale, so the more you spend, the bigger the percentage off.  Just use code MORE18 at checkout.  Scroll through to see more of my favorites that are on sale and some brand new goodies that should be arriving to my door any minute now.  The anticipation, y’all.  Happy shopping, friends!

The Fall Dress You Can Wear Right Now

Chaser dress (c/o) Shopbop (also love the grey color here);  Free People bootiesZac Zac Posen handbag (c/o);  similar sunglassesJulie Vos necklace and bracelets (c/o)

OK, I know it, the Southern California girls are doing a little complaining about the current hot weather.  I mean, it’s hot, y’all.  And I’m dying for that sweater weather.  But if we can’t get a little cool breeze, then we can find some fall goods that we can wear right now, right?

I found it, friends.  This comfy dress combines some of my favorite things – super soft fabric, bell sleeves, and a teal color I love.  I ordered it on a whim, and I couldn’t love it more.  It’s so lightweight and totally wearable right now while you’re sweating your face off. (Or is that just me?)  Y’all, get it. Ant totally pretend it’s cool out, sip a pumpkin spice something, and live your best fall live.

And while you’re at it, the booties.  I may have said it last year, but these boots were totally sent to me as an accident.  I ordered a pair of black booties that were safe and whatever.  These showed up, and I was like, huh?  BUT, I had a trip to Vegas scheduled and thought, well, let me live my best J.Lo life.  And since then, I’ve worn them a TON of times.  They’re super comfy and somehow go with everything.  Promise.

Hope you gals have the best weekend ahead!  We’ll be in the desert for Modernism Week Preview in Palm Springs, so if you’re there, say hi!  Happy Friday, y’all!

Little Black Shift Dress: Now and Later

Black shift dress (c/o);  studded heelssunglassesLoren Hope and Charming Charlie bracelets Black shift dress (c/o);  Free People bootiescabi turtleneckStrathberry handbag (c/o);  Ray-Ban sunglasses

Well guys, I’m not much of a gambler, but I’d say if there’s one safe bet out there it’s that every blogger and fashion-loving gal will definitely jump the gun on some fall fashion in the coming weeks.  You know who I’m talking about.  You’ve seen the girl sweating it out in some leather pants or leggings like she’s taking a cue from Ross Geller.

And I can’t blame that girl!  I mean, you get your hands on some fresh fall threads, and you’re ready to get real cozy, sit by a fireplace, sip on something pumpkin flavored perhaps.  (Fast forward to me shooting the coziest of cashmere sweaters and ponchos yesterday in a Southern California heatwave.  No comment.)

So in these in-between-y days where my heart is saying fall and my sweaty forehead is saying summer, I’m all about some sweet transitional pieces like this lace-up little black shift dress.  For now, rock it solo with an embellished heel and oversized clutch, and later on, throw on a layering turtleneck and the snakeskin boots that make me feel like JLo.  (And who doesn’t wanna feel like JLo these days?  Just sayin’.)

So do yourself a favor, girl, and put down the sweater dress – unless of course you live in an area with weather that’s actually cool enough, and in that case, lucky you – and pick up something a smidge more practical.  Oh, and speaking of practical, I can’t recommend this bootie and handbag combo more.  Promise, they’ll be your new go-to neutrals.  Hope everyone is having a great week.

It’s hard to believe that the end of New York Fashion Week for me was one whole week ago today, and yet somehow this packed suitcase is still sitting on the floor refusing to unpack itself.  The unpacking struggle is so real over here, guys, but I’m thinking maybe tomorrow is the day.  This faux leather dress was definitely my favorite thing that I took along with me to New York, and I can’t believe I’m actually admitting it, but I totally wore this comfy little number twice during the trip.  Whaaat?!  I know.  It made its first appearance last Saturday for the Rebecca Minkoff backstage and show in SOHO followed by the KYBOE! show and after party.  Then on Tuesday, I wasn’t particularly feeling the cocktail dress that I had brought for the RewardStyle party, so I pulled out this leather dress again and added my favorite blazer and a fun little metal clutch to switch things up a bit.  On day number six of Fashion Week, all I wanted was a little bit of comfort, and this dress and boot combo is about as comfortable as it gets.  Seriously, these boots were made for walking, and they’ll definitely be coming with me to Vegas in just about a month.  I’m calling them my JLo boots, and although they were totally sent to me by mistake, they grew on me quickly.  And now I’m like, I totally needed these more than the solid black boots that I actually did order, right?  Right.  Nothing like happy accidents that actually work out.  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

xoxo
