Wedding Wednesday once again, and today I’m so excited to share a few of my favorite details from our New Orleans wedding.  While my most favorite part of the day was the cute boy at the other end of the aisle, today’s post is all about those other little details.  The dress, the shoes, the jewels, the robes, the little things that made the day so memorable. There’s nothing quite like your wedding morning, and I’m sure it isn’t like this for some brides, but for me, it was just a calm day of getting ready with family and girlfriends, a little music, champagne and snacks, and hanging out in the softest robes.  Not a bad day at all I’ll say.

Planning a wedding is filled with a thousand and one choices, and two choices that I definitely don’t regret are my picks for hair and makeup.  Looking back at photos from the day, I feel like I really just look like the best version of myself instead of some glammed up stranger that Eric wouldn’t even recognize.  If you’re getting married in the New Orleans area, I really can’t say enough good things about Brandi Clement for hair and Preauxface Makeup Artists for the makeup.  Everyone was so professional, quick, and fun to be around, and somehow my hair and makeup lasted all day and night despite the weather.

And about that weather.  I knew from the beginning of planning a New Orleans wedding that rain on our big day was a real possibility, and boy did it come down.  They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck, but I wasn’t really sure what to make of the flash flood alerts screaming from everyone’s phones in the bridal suite.  Extra good luck?  Sure, I’ll go with that.  It rained ALL day and pretty much wiped out most of the photo spots that we had in mind for the first look, portraits and family photos.  But I’ve always loved the rain and decided that nothing was gonna ruffle my feathers that day.  Photos in a tented courtyard?  Go with it.  Transportation to our wedding that was really late because of the weather?  Grab a glass of wine from the hotel bar.  Eric’s wedding ring that didn’t fit after three days in New Orleans?  Borrow from a friend.  Overall, the day is totally what you make of it, and if you’ve spent the years dreaming it and months planning it (with beyond so much help from mom), you might as well decide that it’s gonna be the best day of your life.  And best day it was.

Stay tuned next week for more shots from our wedding day!

xoxo
