Pacific Edge Staycation

While we’re frequent visitors to The Deck, this trip was my first time trying their more upscale restaurant Driftwood Kitchen.  I have NO idea why I’ve never eaten at Driftwood Kitchen before, but it definitely will not be my last time.  Where do I even start?  Eric ordered the filet, and I got the sea bass – both were delicious and worth ordering again.  BUT, if you’re gonna blow your pre-wedding diet, absolutely do it with the Butternut Squash Gnocchi.  Don’t think about it, just do it.  Because it’s the most delicious gnocchi I’ve ever had.  There, I said it.  The tuna tartare tacos are also great if you’re not looking to carb out, but that’s your choice, friend.  The place itself is beautiful (see the third photo above), and again with the staff.  Attentive and “on it” without being uptight, and if you’re indecisive like I tend to be, they’ll help a sister out.

Downtown Laguna is just a short stroll away, but then again so was our balcony.  And can you really beat a good balcony steps away from the Pacific?  It’s what dream Saturdays are made of.  And dream Sunday mornings too, for that matter.  We had a cup of coffee in the room but then couldn’t resist heading back to Driftwood Kitchen for breakfast, and now I can’t decide what’s better:  their dinner or their brunch.  I guess that’s why you can go for both.  I had the serious Sunday blues when we left, but it’s good to know that it’s just a short drive away for us.  If you’re headed to Laguna Beach anytime soon, the Pacific Edge Hotel is definitely worth checking out, and don’t even think about skipping Driftwood or The Deck.  You’ll kick yourself.  And get the gnocchi.  That’s it.  Hope everyone has an amazing weekend ahead!

xoxo

I just got married in October and had my wedding block there- such reasonably priced! I know you are getting married soon, not sure if you needed a room block but I recommend them for being so cheap! That awful Holiday Inn Across the street was $120 more a night and its not even on the beach!
