Creating today's post was such a sweet stroll down Memory Lane for me.  Over the past year, I've been fortunate to work with some seriously amazing brands and meet so many inspiring fellow bloggers.  I've posted and tweeted, Instagrammed, regrammed and later-grammed.  I genuinely love the work that I get to do, and it's all thanks to you, my fabulous readers.  Through your comments, emails and social media messages, I feel so connected and cozy within this interactive fashion community, and I couldn't be more thankful.  I'm so proud of how far this little blog has come, and I'm so excited for what's ahead.  So here's to you and cheers to a fantastic (and fashionable) 2013!

Breaking our usual tradition of New Year's Eve at a cabin in the mountains, this year we plan to spend the evening at home with friends, and I couldn't be happier.  That said, I've decided that a NYE at home shouldn't put a stop to the all out glam feel of the night, and this dress is simply stunning.  Keep the look classic with a sky-high grey patent heel and a jewel-toned clutch, and add an unexpected finish with delicate gold jewelry.  Let's face it, I may not get THIS decked out, but at least I can live vicariously through my fabulous readers.  What are your plans for the big night?  And, more importantly, what on earth are you going to wear?

Sweater: BCBG Max Azria; Cape: The Limited; Leggings: Topshop; Boots: Report; Bag: H&M; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Necklace: Forever 21; Watch: Michael Kors; Bracelets: C. Wonder, (c/o) Piperlme, Sugar Boutique; Rings: (c/o) Gorjana
On our way out of Louisiana yesterday the weather finally started to feel like winter, so I was happy that I packed this cozy cocoon-like sweater that had been buried in my closet for a couple years.  Paired with leggings, flat boots and a new winter cape, it was the perfect sweater for flight delays, missed connections, an eventual airport rerouting and an overall long day of travel.  In the end, it's great to be back, and I'm looking forward to a laidback weekend.  Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Always unpredictable, our Louisiana Christmas was warm and windy, with a chance of tornadoes.  For some reason, I packed for actual winter weather, so this cashmere and leather mini dress by C&C California was about the most heatwave-friendly outfit I could come up with for making the Christmas rounds.  Regardless, we had a great day spending time (and overeating) with family and friends.  Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!  I hope everyone is having an amazing holiday, and I can't wait to spend the next two days celebrating holiday traditions with family, friends and my main squeeze.  Whether you're dressing up for a festive Christmas Eve or already planning for New Year's Eve, a little red dress is eye-catching and full of holiday cheer.  Keep warm with a faux fur coat, fleece-lined tights and adorable cap-toe booties, and finish the look with a tasseled clutch and statement bracelet.  Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!

If the holiday hustle and bustle has you feeling a little less than refreshed, then this weekend is the perfect time to recharge.  Blame my Southern roots, but for me, nothing says relaxation better than a hot bath, so it's no surprise I get pretty excited about luxe new bath products.  If you're like me, you definitely need to add Prestiche's line (the "Mineral Treat" in Lavender is a personal fave) to your pre- or post-holiday de-stress repertoire.  Head on over to Prestiche.com to stock up on a wide array of gimmick-free, yummy-smelling goods, and you just may find that a little well-deserved "me time" is just the ticket to get you back in the holiday spirit.  Oh, and use code "nikki60" at checkout to receive 60% off of everything sitewide.  Yep, 60% off.  Good times, kids.  Hope everyone has a great (and relaxing) weekend!

This winter I'm all about rounding up the outerwear essentials that my closet has been lacking, and a military-inspired coat or cape was definitely at the top of the list.  Basic black skinnies and a neutral sweater are instantly polished when partnered with sleek leather boots and this fatigue-colored coat.  A utilitarian-esque messenger, wool hat and minimal jewelry choices finish the simple chic look.  What essential pieces are lacking from your winter wardrobe?

It seems that once again this year, despite my best efforts, I've managed to save a chunk of my holiday shopping for the last minute.  But hey, what's done is done, and I'm a people person, so what could be better than four million shoppers and one compact parking spot?  If you share my fate, then the least you can do is arm yourself with a little cozy comfort.  Second skin jeans.  Loose tee.  Ultra soft cardigan.  Even softer faux fur scarf.  No heels, no ma'am.  And for Pete's sake, keep your handbag handsfree and towards the smaller end of the spectrum.  You'll thank me later.  Happy shopping, y'all!

If the holiday sweets and obligatory eggnog have already left you feeling a bit stuffed into your skinny jeans, then this sweatshirt-turned-minidress is just what the doctor ordered.  Jazz up the comfy, cozy little number with platform shoe-boots and over-the-knee socks, and compliment the laidback vibe with a floral scarf and quilted messenger bag.  Finish the look with standout silver jewelry and mod-meets-retro shades for a cool, girl-about-town appeal.  Hope everyone is having a great week!
