Recently I booked my tickets for September's Lucky FABB (Fashion and Beauty Bloggers) Conference in New York, and I'm already counting down the days.  Although I love the climate and pace of living in Southern California, New York City has always been one of my favorite places to visit, and the look above is exactly the kind of pieces I'll be packing for a laidback day of shopping around the city.  Floral denim shorts and a lightweight silk tee will help beat the midday heat, while easy black booties are chic and comfortable enough for a full day of walking.  Finish with retro shades, stacked gold jewels and a fall-friendly, ponyhair leopard clutch for a sleek, mixed-prints look.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Dear Diary,

You're right. Vegas is filled with girls in skintight, curve-flaunting party dresses (With good reason: it's the city where anything goes.), but why not try something a little different with a pair of standout sequin mini shorts and a flirty silk tank?  Up the edgy factor with cutout platform booties and a studded clutch.  Keep jewelry delicate and minimal for a look that is classy, fun and all-out glam.  If a body-con dress still seems more your speed, check out the chic LBD's below from Miss Selfridge.  Hope this helps, and happy shopping!

Some of my favorite statement jewelry pieces are those made with various types of gold chain, and lately I've found that Karen London seems to do it best.  For a standout office look, pair a lightweight peplum blouse (belted at the waist to further define curves) with a body-conscious knit pencil skirt.  Create a tonal effect with gold-trimmed, blush-hued accessories like this handbag, watch and heel.  Finish the look with standout gold-chain jewelry like these amazing "Stronger Than You Know" pieces from Karen London and fingers full of stackable rings.

One of my absolute favorite looks for a night out is a loose-fitting jersey mini dress elevated with layered jewelry and statement shoes, and I'm loving the chic navy hue and draped effect of this adorable (and affordable!) version by Cheap Monday.  Look-at-me snake heels take the comfortable mini from day to night, and a luxe black clutch and mixed metals jewelry add the finishing touch for an understated sexy-without-showing-too-much feel.

Well, it's that time of year again.  Time for fried Oreos (Yep. Fried. Oreos.), carnival rides, cover band enthusiasm and the general merriment that is the Orange County Fair.  As is probably the case in hundreds of cities across America during the summer, when a fair is in town, you just have to pick a weekend and go.  For me, that weekend is now.  Learning my lesson from a chilly night at the fair last year, (Chilly in July? Yes.) I'll probably opt for easy cutoffs and a lightweight summer sweater paired with throw-on-and-go suede booties to help avoid the not-so-desirable combination of muddy fair slush and flip flops.  A hands-free studded tote and seriously chic jewelry help pull it all together for a stylish and comfortable, laidback look.  Now, someone please point me to the funnel cake and cover band du jour.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!
