Although California's weather has been a little more on the gloomy and chilly side than I'd prefer lately, this is exactly the type of weekend uniform I am craving for spring: distressed denim cutoffs and a loose tee paired with flatform sandals and a fringe messenger.  A Southwest-print scarf, aviators, and layered jewelry are the icing on the cake.  Have a great weekend!

This weekend we celebrated a friend's birthday with one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday: wine tasting in Temecula.  The gloomy, foggy morning turned into a pretty nice day once the sun broke through the clouds.  I picked up these faux leather track shorts and comfy, slouchy sweater on my recent trip to Kansas City, and the combination turned out to be perfect for Saturday's fickle weather.  A big thanks to Karen London Jewelry for this uh-mazing statement cuff and necklace.  I cannot get enough of the line's tough chains and studs mixed with beautiful wood pieces, the perfect accents for delicate spring ensembles.  All in all it was a great day with great friends and good wine, and the sinfully rich birthday cake didn't hurt either.

Being somewhat of a creature of habit, I'm constantly on the hunt for the perfect little black dress.  I came across this jersey tank version by Riller & Fount a few seasons ago, and to me, it is about as perfect as they come.  It pairs easily with just about every cardigan I own (including this semi-sheer blue cocoon from Urban Outfitters) but is perfectly capable of standing alone during the hot summer months.  These pictures were taken while heading to brunch on my last day in Kansas this past weekend.  Low-key booties (that have been in constant rotation lately), beaded bracelets, classic aviators, and this adorable wallet/clutch (which conveniently fits the contents of my wallet along with a lipgloss and my iPhone) completed the look for a laidback layered feel.
